The Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) were discovered by a French astronomer, Eduard Martel who undertook the first scientific exploration of the caves in 1896, financed by Archduke Luigi Salvatore d' Asburgo-Lorena.
Inside the caves are examples of various speleotherms such as stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and curtains. At the end of the caves is Lake Martel, one of the largest underground lakes in the world. Upon reaching lake Martel visitors are encouraged to take seats and witness the spectacular concert performed on boats. It is an opportunity to experience the perfect acoustics and listen to classical music.

Didn't really know what to expect, not having been to Mallorca before, but on entering the caves we were mesmerised. What wonderful sights. Worth every penny of our 10.50 euros.

I thought that the caves were absolutely amazing. It was like something out of a sci fi film. The only fault I could find was that I thought that it needed a bit more lighting, but apart from that, spectacular. Would do it again.
