El Arenal Information
El Arenal (s'Arenal), situated on the south west coast of Mallorca, was one of the first developments for mass tourism on the island. However, a general plan to preserve the character of this area was non-existent for many years and the result is narrow, crowded streets with no parking, apartment blocks and noise from hundred of bars and hotels. Even so, the council has been spending much money and effort to improve the area and a new waterfront promenade has been constructed and the evening sunset unique. For those that like late nights and a selection of bars and entertainment, S'Arenal is the place to be. The tourist with family has mainly moved elsewhere.

We stayed all inclusive during our stay in El Arenal and as an antidote to all those calories, can highly recommend a stroll along the beach front of an evening. The sunsets are amazing as the sun disappears over the mountains and everybody seems to be out. Lots of pubs and clubs and cafes stay open late as well for those who what a night cap or two or three.

Marineland is excellent for a day out (car hire is recommended as we got the bus which shortened our time there). It has performing parrots, sealions and dolphins. Aqualand (outdoor waterpark) is a two minute walk from hotel and is an excellent day out.
The beach is clean and ten minutes from the hotel, although theres a bank to get there which can be cut out by using side streets. The sea is also really clean and shallow for kids. The front is lovely and has a lot of bars and restaurants.
Bridge and Montys are good for meals and the Sportsman is brilliant for the English. Its run by scousers and has football and soaps shown there and also sells food and has pool table and does karaoke. Veronicas nightclub seems to be most popular club and a bus runs to Magaluf late at night from the front. Scorpio bar is not advised! Full of sleezy men!
It is only ten minutes on the bus to Palma from the hotel and costs one euro. Caves of Drach were quite boring for us who are in our 20's. Far too expensive too.
Hair braiders constantly harrass you so if you want your hair braided, haggle them. cheapest is about 15 euro. There is plenty to do and lots of day trips to go on if the beach is too boring for you. The hotel Palma Mazas and resort is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.

What can i say about Arenal? After living there for just under two years, it has to be one of the nicest resorts in Mallorca. Yes, a lot of it is German and Dutch orientated when you wander for maybe 20 minutes up the seafront, but down the Club Nautico end, it's gorgeous! The beach is fab with lovely white sand as far as the eye can see, and palm trees set along the edge separating the sand from the pavement.

There's plenty to do with the Aqua Park a ten minute walk up the road and a bus service that runs you straight into Palma for only one euro! There's plenty of places to eat, drink and party as well. I recommend 'Trozencos' which is a live music bar run by a lovely couple - Niel and Sissy. Then there's the 'Rose and Crown' - a British run family bar, which serves the most fantastic food at reasonable prices. Definitely worth popping in to say hello. The family are lovely! Up the seafront you have 'Hole In The Wall' and 'Beachcomber' which are both extremely fun bars - Robbie is the best!

I know a lot of people have good words about the 'Sportsman' but always found it a very small, dingy bar which is overrun with sports! Yes, it is the busiest bar in the resort but it is way too cramped! Not a place to take young kids! All in all I would most definitely go back to Arenal. I've never had so much fun and the memories will last forever and ever.

I know everyone has their favourite bars in Arenal, but in truth there are only a handful of English speaking bars there now. My favourite has to be 'Blues Bar', which is right opposite the Marina. It's not always busy early on, but it stays open late and has a really good crowd later on at night. The bar man is very friendly and excellent fun, and the drinks are the cheapest on the island! Good luck for the coming year!

Was in Arenal for a week and 'Beachcombers' has been the source for a lot of good memories (up to the points in the night at which I can still remember what was going on, that is!)

Good crowd in there, good music and the barman was absolutely fantastic - cool guy, loads of fun. If I ever go back to Mallorca, I'm definitely going back to 'Beachcombers'

Travel date: July 2007
The 'Hole In The Wall' British bar has to be the best bar in Arenal! Big Rob makes the best meals on the island and his son makes the best cocktails. We felt very welcome by all staff - Big Rob, Robbie, Sarah and Kate. Would recommend to any one visiting Arenal or even any part of Majorca to visit this pub!

My partner and I spent a fair bit of time in this pub and what can I say, other than fantastic! All bar staff was brill but the stars of the show had to be the son, Rob and his side kick, Tony, who has not been there that long but has made a mark in my life for good. They are a great laugh and will never leave you feeling lost or left out! Give the bar a go, you won't want to leave!

Great bar with fantastic food. Best Sunday roast, well done Tibna, don't know how you do it. Great atmosphere for the world cup. Packed to the rafters. Really enjoyed myself. Thanks for looking after us all. If we visit Majorca again, will come and see you. Kiss for Alfie.

Review title: "Fantastic Family Bar & Restaurant"
Travel date: September 2005
Our first visit to El Arenal was cemented when we found this superb bar and restaurant beside the marina called the 'Strathallan Arms'. Great karaoke and a warm welcoming atmosphere and the owners Carolyne and Ali treated us like family. They even took to entertaining the kids for us. The food was delicious and the prices were comparable. If you are in Arenal, I would recommend this pub highly.

Just off the main drag, the next turning after the Sportsmans Bar is a bar called The One And Only. Run by husband and wife, Paul and Tina Anderson. Food is fantastic, beer flows as long as you want to drink, and a better couple you will never meet. And as for Connor and Dec well, what can we say. Two boys to be proud of. Thanks Paul and Tina for making our stay very memorable and we will be back.

Travel date: August 2004
I found Irana and Robert great hosts and their son Robert really tried to cater for all families and couples young or old. Their food was great and served with great speed. They would find something for even the most picky kids to eat and they were great company in the evenings too. If you were sitting alone waiting for someone, they treated you like one of the family after a few days. I would recommend them to all. They are just one street back from the promemade, opposite opposite the Caprabo supermarket.
