The small fishing village of El Golfo is situated on the west coast of Lanzarote, some 20 minutes by car to the west of Playa Blanca just outside of the Timanafaya national park. Just south of El Golfo, and within walking distance, lies the green lagoon of the Charco de Los Clicos, formed inside a volcanic semi-crater, the green colour coming from the chemicals in the volcanic sediment. The lagoon is separated from the sea by a beach of black sand.

The village has a selection of mainly sea food restaurants and a couple of shops. The only holiday accommodation is the El Hotelito del Golfo. El Golfo is known as the best place to watch the sunset on the island.
