Calafell is situated between Tarragona and Barcelona on the Costa Dorada, just 30 kilometres from Tarragona and 60 kilometres from Barcelona airport. The resort of Calafell consists of the old town which was built around the medieval castle, and the beaches of Segur and Calafell which offer five kilometres of sand with shallow water.The resort has a shopping centre and several outdoor markets on Tuesdays and Fridays. As well as the usual tourist shops, there is a selection of more traditional, Spanish shops.

We booked our apartment through villa-service.com and flew to Barcelona with fly globespan. What a delight Calafell is. Clean, cheap and although very busy at night, it was (quiet)silence from midnight. We stayed in a four bedroom apartment overlooking the beach.
Travelled to Tarragona, Universal and Barcelona by local train. Villa-service were first class with everything we needed, picking us up at the airport due to a late flight(at a cost) but we couldn't do it without them. We were two families of four.
My two daughters came home with all their holiday money as we couldn't spend it. There are tourist shops but they are in the back streets and sell what you can buy at home, nothing new so the holiday didn't cost us much in gifts. The visit to Nou Camp cost me a fortune though as Henrik Larsson had just signed that week -(big)celtic fans.
Plenty of bars but no British bars with drunken louts in them. Great! We had a wonderful time and would certainly go back.
