Corralejo Information
Corralejo is an old fishing village at the northern tip of Fuerteventura, about 37 kilometres from Puerto del Rosario and 41 kilometres north of the airport. It has been extensively developed and is now the largest tourist resort area on the island. The waterfront has a promenade with shops, bars and restaurants and the town beaches are suitable for small children, as they do not have the currents which affect the main beaches, although they do have rocky areas. About two kilometres from the town is the main sandy beach with the famous dunes, which extends for some ten kilometres and is popular with windsurfers.

The night life is mainly hotel based but is not as lively as that found in the Mediterranean resorts of Spain. A regular car ferry service runs from the harbour to Lanzarote, a journey of about 40 minutes.

Christina's Country Kitchen rated 10 out of 10

Travel date: August 2009
I stayed at the Oasis Papagayo hotel which was good value for money, but the food was awful. However, we found a little gem - 'Christina's Country Kitchen'! Although we did try other places to eat, we just kept going back to Christina's with its taste the difference home made food and friendly, chatty and helpful staff. Enough choice on the menu to try a different meal each night of your holiday and all fresh and tasty. Although very close to another similar establishment, Christina's is miles ahead. Please try it out - you will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for good value for money and food that you can all eat, then this is your place. The menu is very wide and home cooked and the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you don't want to trudge up and down the road everyday looking for somewhere to eat, then pop in here. There is something on the menu for everyone and I'm fussy and found something every time I went in there. So pay it a visit, it's worth it.

There are many bars etc. in the town but if you want a decent drink at a good value for money price, then this is your place. The choice of drink is good and most of the drinks are branded so you won't be asking for a drink and getting a local equivalent which is worth noting. The owners are very friendly and helpful with local information. Well worth a visit.

Travel date: December 2008
What a pub. This place is a must while on holiday in Corralejo. The weather wasn't great this year so we were in need of a wee bit of good cheer and 'McCarthy's' was just the tonic. Two musicians were over from Cork, Ireland for the Christmas period and they had everyone singing and dancing. Thank you Barry and Kieran, you're legends.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was electric on New Year's Eve. We arrived early to get seats but we were told the line was down the street to get into the pub.

We are heading out again for St Patrick's day (week). The owner told me they will have musicians coming over from Ireland to play for the week. Can't wait.

The Waikiki is a lovely restaurant on the beach. Its staff are friendly and welcoming and the food excellent. Having gone there on more than one occasion, we were welcomed as friends, making it a very pleasant experience.

Great wee Irish bar. Music by Eugene from Ireland. Say hello from me to Linda behind the bar. Good crack, very friendly, good measures of drinks, no rubbish and great cocktails made by Maura. Elvis great on Saturday nights. Give it a go - you won't be disappointed - great holiday!

Ten of us went on holiday to Corralejo and we found 'McCarthy's' half way through our holiday. Just we wish we found it sooner. Aine, who is from Cork, was brilliant. She knew all our drinks as soon as we were in the door. Felt like we were in the local at home, except the prices were a lot less then Ireland. Toilets were very clean and don't forget to sign the visitors' book.

Although this pub is not in view of the main street, I highly recommend everyone go here. Friendliest staff I've ever known and Tim, who hosts the karaoke, is a riot.
