Carvoeiro is a small fishing town on the south coast of the Algarve, situated some ten kilometres west of Armacao de Pera, seven kilometres east of Portimao and five kilometres south of Lagoa. This is a fast expanding tourist resort, but retains its 'fishing village' charm. There are a number of sandy beaches in the area.

The menu at 'Columbos', whilst not extensive, was varied and there was something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Two of us were even encouraged to sit at a table for eight as we would then be in the shade!
The English bookshop was a readers paradise. The very knowledgeable owner suggested different authors - brilliant!
