Ca'n Pastilla Information
Ca'n Pastilla is situated on the south coast of Mallorca, eight kilometres south east of the city of Palma. It is just half a kilometre from the end of the runway of Palma's international airport.

The town grew in the 1960s with the tourism boom and many of the buildings and facilities date from that period. The town consists of a narrow main street with a central church, set amongst tightly packed streets beside the picturesque little harbour and marina.

The resort is more laid-back and relaxed than Playa de Palma and is popular with British tourists. Shopping facilities include a selection of shops for general goods in the main street and souvenir shops along the sea front. There are many eating places along the seafront too, mostly with British, German and Chinese cuisine. Night life is hotel and bar based and is mainly low key, compared to that of El Arenal.

Regular buses run from Ca'n Pastilla to both Palma and El Arenal and a tourist train runs along the sea front to El Arenal.

What can I say? Just came back from spending six nights in the Anfora Hotel. Great little hotel on the beach. Location is excellent, beautiful views of the bay and very serene. Food at the hotel was great for price we paid and they even provide free British newspapers to read.

C'an Pastilla has a lot of ex patriots and seems to have its own small community; there are some great little pubs and restaurants. Spend some time in the 'Tavern', great little cafe bar on the harbour, nice meals and visited by quite a few Brits. It is owned by Bernard from Wales and Andrea does the meals. Highly recommended.

You could try 'Buskers' if you prefer the English pub scene as it has a great atmosphere and I bet it gets really busy in the high season. Another nice little cafe bar is run by Dave and his wife and son from Birmingham. I can't remember the name but it is right next door to the English fish and chip shop. We spent a couple of nights here and had a good old chinwag with a few of the regulars and the beer was inexpensive. All of these pubs/cafes are within 300 metres walk from the Anfora Hotel and are highly recommended.

We hired a couple of bikes one day and cycled to Palma centre. Great, relaxing break although you can take the bus for one euro ten. If you visit C'an Pastilla, a walk to Arenal along the beach is a must. We even found a kebab shop facing the beach with great kebabs.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our six nights and will definitely go back. A great big thanks to the 'Tavern', 'Buskers' and Dave( next to the fish and chip shop) for making our break in the sun a memorable one. We will meet again.

Review title: "A Quiet Little Place."

I stayed at Ca'n Pastilla for a fortnight in November 2005. It is on the smallish side for a seaside town, but nevertheless there is a fair choice of shops ranging from clothing and souvenir shops to a rather nice plant and flower shop at the rear of the town square. There was also a £1 (or should it be a €1 shop?) there selling virtually everything and a good internet cafe was located in the town. There were also two 'Spar' supermarkets, but the one in the town centre is noticeably cheaper than the one on the seafront near the Anfora Hotel. (One litre of wine for about 50p - now that can't be bad !)

As it was the winter season many of the bars etc. were closed, but this really didn't bother me too much as there was a good bar in my hotel (Hotel Linda) which always seemed to be open - so no problems here.

I tried the independent burger bar in the town centre a couple of times and although it was small, the service was prompt and the burgers were good and they made a welcome change from Big Macs! There was a centrally located post office, so that one could post their cards home, and there was quite a nice market held in the town centre every Thursday morning.

The sandy beach extending all the way to Arenal was lovely, and this made for really a very pleasant (two and a half miles) walk along the sea front.

There were infrequent buses operating to Manacor, Porto Cristo, Caves of Drach and Valdermosa and these were fine for day trips to these places as long as you had the timetables for these buses. The bus service to Arena and Palma from Ca'n Pastilla (the number 15s) were very frequent with a bus running about every ten minutes - but in all other respects they were disgusting!!!! They were grossly overloaded, so on most trips it was standing room only (and boy! did they overload those buses) and if you did get a seat on the bus, it was just a basic hard plastic seat with no padding - very uncomfortable indeed on one's rear end, I must say. There was a taxi rank centrally situated in the town centre - it cost me €10 to get to the airport from here.

To be quite truthful I have most certainly in my lifetime been to more exciting places than Ca'n Pastilla, but then holidays are all about relaxing and taking things easy and quite frankly I feel that Ca'n Pastilla is just right for doing just that.

A very quiet and pleasant place to unwind. Very Spanish with a lovely promenade to walk along. Very good tapas bar by the small harbour. No time-share touts and good bus service to Palma City.

A relatively Brit free resort since UK tour operators ditched the area in the early '90's, this place is like a breath of fresh air. Ssshhh, keep it to yourselves or stay in Shagaluf!

English bar/cafeteria takeaway in Ca'n Pastilla 'El Diablo'. Finding this fab place was the highlight of our holiday. The food was fantastic and the family who own the business are second to none. Both David & Gail plus their lovely polite sons treated us like royalty. Such a friendly and relaxing place to wine and dine at a very reasonable cost. Lovely and clean. Will return again and again highly recommended.
