There are a number of Moorish buildings in the city, the most important being the Aljaferia which is a large castle/palace which is now the seat of the Aragonese parliament. The Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar was built in 1681 and is the one of the most visited places of pilgrimage in the whole of Spain. There are many other historic buildings in Zaragoza including the 14th century cathedral and parts of the preserved Roman wall.
In 2008, Zaragoza will be host to the next world fair Expo 2008, and the city is bidding for the 2014 winter Olympics, together with the city of Jaca.
