Calella And Its Surroundings

Calella is a lovely resort and the locals take a pride in keeping it clean. The beach is cleaned every morning and the bins are emptied regularly. There are lifeguards stationed at regular intervals as the sea is not ideal for poor swimmers as the beach drops quickly.
Facilities are excellent with many bars and restaurants of differing nationalities and styles, generally all are reasonably priced. The variety of shops is also good and not all close in the afternoon.
One of the best features of the area is the railway as it runs along the coast from Blanes to Barcelona, with stops at most resorts, very cheap fares and a roughly half hourly service every day.
The local police patrol in pairs on bicycles and are only too willing to help with any information you may require. We certainly did not see any 'trouble' during our stay.

"Best Time Of My Life"

I spent five of my summers working at 'Gringo Joe's' restaurant. It was the best five years of my life. I couldn't have wished to have met nicer people anywhere else in the world. My bosses Mary and Dinah the owners of the restaurant and night club 'The White Hart' were amazing, as was my best friend who used to live over there.

English speaking people, great food, great beer, clean, you can get everything from English television to getting a book while you are on holiday for a few euros which all goes to charity and most off all a wonderful welcome. A place not to be missed. Without this place Calella would not be so good.

"Excellent British Pub"

Having visited Calella seven times in the last 15 years, 'Alcatraz' has always proved to be an excellent watering hole. Although the 'White Horse' and 'Beach Boys' are good English pubs, the staff at 'Alactraz' do all they can to make your holiday a good one. Excellent food, horses and football in abundance (if that is what you want) and lots of games in the evening e.g. pool competitions and bingo etc.
John the owner has done a brilliant job in securing the British pound goes in his bar. Keep up the good work.

All I can say about this bar is great. The staff are so helpful, the food is great, the DJ come barman (Sid) is a good lad and it's a nice, cool, great place. What more can I say.

That 'White Horse' is a right proper pub. Me and me pals proper loved it, we did. The karaoke was brilliant every night. Happening. One evening was ruined when a bunch of Essex boys turned up and booed the karaoke. Overall, it was like home from home. I'd recommend it to an any Brit who visits Calella. It was just like a night down the club back home and they sell a proper pint of Tetley's and proper chips and gravy. Happening.

You would think looking on the outside that this wasn't going to be the nicest pub, but it is so friendly and everyone is lovely - I spent every evening in there and was never bored for one minute especially considering you get two rather dishy guys dressing up in skirts when the 'Cheeky Girls' song is on. It is a great all rounder and it is sure to make your holiday a good one!

If you go to Calella, check 'Molly Malone's' pub. It is great. Amazing entertainment! Great food and drink. The friendliest staff you'll ever meet and if you like Guinness, it will be the best pint you'll ever have abroad! xxx

Coming from a little town in the West Midlands to Calella, me and my mate went for our birthdays (18 and 21). We went in the 'White Horse' to check it out and it was the friendliest bar we ever been to abroad. Everyone who worked in there lived in the Midlands and really made us feel welcome. Thanks to the entertainment and welcoming - it felt like we were back home, but with the hot weather! Thanks lads, you made our holiday. See you next year!

This was our best ever holiday! The staff at the 'White Horse' became friends. Our three children loved the staff and were heartbroken when it was time to go home. We Loved Calella and the Spanish people, but our boys just lived for the evenings and going to see their friends at the 'White Horse'. Can't wait to see you all this year.
