Height Restrictions

"Beware!"

Whilst we overall enjoyed PortAventura, there is one issue I wish to raise. We visited with our six year old grandson, as we thought it would be an ideal holiday destination for him. However, all the rides have varying height restrictions, not age. Therefore, if you have children possibly under the age of five, there are many things for them to go on. However, I feel that for children between the ages of five and seven, this proves a bit of a problem. The reason is that many of the other rides are aimed at height 1.20 - 1.40 metres which I feel many of the average children between these ages do not fit. Our grandson is not unusually short but measured approx. 1.18 metres which meant he was not eligible, even with an adult to access many of the rides. The other rides for height 1.10 metres and under were a little 'too tame' for him. I fully understand and appreciate the need for these restrictions from a health and safety point if view, but I also feel that this then should be reflected in the admission prices. Children should be measured at the entrance (obviously only if in any doubt of the actual height) and then there should be a payment structure to reflect what rides they can actually access due to these restrictions. As I say, for children between the five and seven age range, these I feel are the ones that fall into this 'in between' catagory.
Other than this, PortAventura is a brilliant place to visit, be it a little too expensive because of these restrictions.

I went to the theme park Portaventura and I will say if you have kids, make sure you go. It's fantastic. I have been to Florida and it isn't as good as Florida but its still very enjoyable. Most of the rides only allow children over one meter ten and my little girl couldn't get on most of them. She still had other things to amuse her but I would recommend the roller coasters there. Fantastic, especially the 300 foot drop one.
I would just like to also say take plenty of food with you due to the all the restaurants closing at 4 pm and snack bars shut at 8 pm but I would definitely go back if I ever went to Spain again. Adios...

"Amazing Holiday - 5 Stars"

This is an amazing place for the whole family! I have now been twice and am going again this summer. The second time I went with my mum (40), dad (41), brother (7), nan (65) and grandad (66). Everyone loved it and this time we are going with my aunt and her sons as well.
The top attractions are the Hurricane Condor and the Dragon Kahn, both of which I have sadly not been on due to the queues and a lack of interest. My favourite is the Grand Canyon Rapids ride. The whole family loved it and it's a little bit different every time. One time you get wet the next your are bone dry (ish) and because it wasn't too fast, it didn't frighten my little brother who, on our first visit, was only six.
The food is mainly just, well, theme park food (burgers, hotdogs, chips) but unlike some theme parks, they do have other options in each section of the park (salads, pasta, wraps).
There are so many great attractions it is impossible to mention them all but it's just a great family park. Well worth three or four days at least of exploring. The park also has many great shows. My favourites were the Wild West Show and the Chinese acrobats, both in Spanish but easy to understand the idea because of not much dialogue.
The last thing to see before leaving is the firework display which takes you through a story of the different sections using jet skis, kites and of course fireworks. This is an amazing park. I wouldn't say it was as good as Florida's theme parks but it so different it is hard to compare. Enjoy!

"Ticket Problems"

When we purchased a two day ticket to the park, we were not told the tickets were consecutive. If you buy these you cannot miss a day and when we returned, the park would not accept our tickets even though we do not speak Spanish and were not told this. We lost our money and our children were very disappointed. Other people bought longer and lost more.
