s'Illot Information
The resort of s'Illot is to be found on the eastern coast of Mallorca, almost midway between the resorts of Cala Millor and Porto Cristo. It is 65 kilometres east from the Son Sant Joan International airport at Palma. This small resort is joined to the modern, purpose built resort of Sa Coma by a footbridge over a small freshwater lagoon and there is also a slightly longer road bridge.
s'Illot was originally a traditional fishing village that has gradually grown into a small holiday resort and is much less developed than Sa Coma. Both resorts are popular with British tourists and Sa Coma contains a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, many of which are British owned. Sa Coma has a sandy beach with water sport and beach facilities. Behind the beach is a wide traffic free promenade that runs the full length of the resort towards s'Illot to the south and the smaller sheltered beach of Cala Moreya in the north.
The resorts of Sa Coma and s'Illot are especially popular with families with children and has evening entertainment that is based in hotels, although the resorts do have a number of bars. Buses run into Palma several times a day during the summer, as well as to Manacor, Caves of Drach and Cala Millor.

"Best Bar In S'illot!!"

After ten years, we decided to go back to S'Illot this year and stay in my aunt's apartment. Everything looked much the same - beautiful beach, etc. This time we decided to give the 'Red Lion' a try (it's right by the beach.) and we are so glad we did. The food is delicious and the atmosphere great! If you do decide to go there check the toilets out - immaculate!

Whilst staying in a friend's apartment in s'Illot, Mallorca, we discovered The 'Red Lion' bar. It's right on the promenade next to a beautiful beach. Food was delicious and the company was great! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

We were staying at the Playa Moreia hotel on a self catering basis. We've been going back to S'Illot since the 1960s and always had something to eat at the 'Red Lion' but this year in 2007, we met Stuart and Elaine. Very enjoyable and pleasant couple. Lovely food and will go back again in 2008.

"The Best Sunday Roast "

We have just spent a couple of weeks in s'Illot. The 'Fawlty Towers' is a family run bar and the owners are friendly and accommodating, especially when you have young children. The food is reasonably priced and excellent and there is a children's menu. The highlight is the Sunday and Wednesday roast dinners which are superb.

"Excellent Food"

The food was excellent and the menu was extensive. They had everything including paella, pasta, chicken in various sauces, many seafood dishes and many English dishes as well as a children's menu. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the service was friendly. The location was gorgeous, right next to the sea. I would recommend it to anyone.

"Avoid"

We waited one hour and 40 minutes for a meal consisting of burgers and chips for our youngsters and pasta dishes for the adults. The staff were OK when they seated us (two children and seven adults) but when we asked how much longer we would be waiting, they got very angry and the response was 'what's the hurry, you are on holiday'! By this time it was well past 10 p.m. and we decided we had to leave to eat elsewhere. The manager was very angry. He thought we should be patient because he only had one member of staff on that night.
They should never have taken our order knowing they could not cope. We passed the bar many times - it was always empty.

Last year we stayed in s'Illot with our two children. The first place we found was the 'Red Lion' and we went back there every day! Food was great, as was the view of the lovely beach. Elaine and Stuart, who owned it, did everything they could to make us welcome. To cap it all, we were there for the big firework display and the 'Red Lion' had the best view going! We've already booked for this August and can't wait!

The 'Fawlty Towers' pub is great. Graeme and Maz are wonderful. Graeme sees to the drinks whilst Maz takes care of the cooking.
We have two children and each time we visit Mallorca they ask to visit 'Fawlty Towers'. We like it so much we probably spend half of our holiday there. See you in 2008.

Visit Paul at the 'Poker Bar'. Great character, you get a great meal, quality food and and an excellent service. A little extra is 'Elvis' the parrot who keeps the kids amused and if feeling vocal, provides the entertainment.

My wife and I first visited Stuart and his wife in 2005
on the day he very first opened. This year we were staying
in Cala Millor again we thought we would see how they were
both doing. We had a very warm greeting and were pleased to
learn they were doing very well. They deserve to with their
warmth and hospitality. Pity we had to leave after a couple
of sangrias, although we did go back in a couple of days with a couple of friends we had met at our hotel.

"Thanks S'Illot..."
Travel date:
October 2006
I visited S'Illot with my wife, daughter and grandchildren in October 2006 and we dined regularly throughout our holidays at the 'Fawlty Towers' bar. We were greeted warmly by Graeham and Maz and made welcome throughout our stay.
They really are a wonderful couple and their friendliness only surpassed by their dedication to our party in October 2005 when we first met them - and him a Spurs supporter as well! On our day of departure, we had to leave early to catch our plane, however they insisted on opening early in the morning, to cook and serve us breakfast before we left S'Illot. Cheers Graeham and Maz - you deserved the Carling cup this year. See you soon, about May 4th.

"Excellent Food And Very Cheap Drinks"
Travel date:
September 2006
Stopping in the Arcos Playa Apartments, which are nice but pretty basic, the most important thing was to find somewhere to eat and drink. After trying the hotel bar and the 'Red Lion', we tried 'Tiger Inn'.
Wish we had gone there first because once we had, we never left. We spent a memorable 12 days eating and drinking at 'Tiger Inn'. The food was excellent and the atmosphere of the bar was lovely. The views from the terrace were breathtaking. Finding the 'Tiger Inn' made our holiday and the couple who owned the bar put themselves out to make sure everybody was welcome. I would certainly go back and have no hesitation in recommending this bar to anyone.

"The Best And Friendliest Bar In s'Illot/Sa Coma"
Travel date:
March 2006
I visited the resort of Sa Coma in March 2006 and after visiting many bars in the area which were disappointing, I stumbled across the 'Tiger Inn' bar in s'Illot. The food was excellent and of a high standard. The portions were a good size and the menu had a variety of choice. The staff, who are a young/middle aged couple, were the most friendly, honest people you could meet. I felt very welcome and they always found time to chat and laugh with their customers.
The bar is very clean and decorated to a high standard, with entertainment and games most evenings. The breakfast is a must, also homemade meat pie then the delicious apple pie for afters. We had so much fun at the 'Tiger Inn' that it really made our holiday. We went back again in July 2006 and spent two lovely weeks, which was mostly spent eating and drinking at the bar. We are going back again this July 2007. If it wasn't for the 'Tiger Inn' I don't think we would return to the resort. I also have children who loved the staff at the 'Tiger Inn' and can't wait to see them again. Well done to you both! Such a successful bar.
