Soller (Puerto) Information

The resort of Puerto Soller (Port de Sóller) is to be found on the north west coast of Mallorca, 35 kilometres north of Palma and 44 kilometres north of the international airport. The resort is built around a fishing harbour and a marina for pleasure craft. There is a beach side promenade on the other side of the bay to the harbour and the main seafront road is lined with shops, restaurants and hotels.

Port de Sóller is popular with older couples and those interested in scenery and who are looking for a relaxing holiday. The beaches are quite small and night life consists of one or two bars and a disco, as well as musical entertainment provided by hotels. The resort hosts a number of restaurants offering local cuisine and international food.

There is a regular tram service to Sóller and a scenic narrow-gauge railway from Sóller to Palma several times a day. There are also frequent buses to Palma.

The place is very interesting, like a mini Monte Carlo. There are nice restaurants like ''Ca´s Mariner,' a typical fishing quarter restaurant and 'Es Mollet' - very good Majorcan cooking and like 'Ses Oliveres', a mix between Majorcan cooking with nouvelle cuisine at a very good price (all in front of the sea ) and also other ones like the one at the light house or another one on the road to Sóller, 'Sa Taulera', grilled meat and sucking pig. In fact, good food, nice places and a lot of history to be visited.
