Spend a night or two down by the very smart marina. Restaurants nice but expensive and some you're expected to dress for dinner. Some pleasant bars and coffee houses to watch how the other half live. Often visited by celebrities. I say the other half assuming you don't own a half million pound yacht!

"Be Careful With Your Menu Choices!"

Good atmosphere if being in 'Little Britain,' spotting a few minor celebs and mixing with the ex pats is your 'cup of tea.' Food is inexpensive compared to GB. Not the place for a 'special meal' but there's more than enough other options for that. However, if you want a good quality steak or other straightforward fare in a 'buzzy' atmosphere (especially out of season,) then it's worth a visit.
Stay clear of the more elaborate sounding menu options - they can't cook so many things from scratch in such a short time, so it's probably out of the freezer and into the microwave/deep fat fryer! Like all things, there's always an exception to the rule - the duck fois was fab!

"Great Food"

We spent a week in Portals Nous and had several meals in this establishment. In fact last year, we made an effort to travel from Puerto Soller just to go for lunch here. It is a place frequented by locals and tourists alike. Staff are friendly, especially the gentleman in charge. The food is good and well presented. We have yet to try the paella but it must be good as we frequently saw people coming to pick up dishes of it to carry out, especially on a Sunday.
All grilled meats and fish are well cooked. The garlic mayonnaise to go with the bread is something else indeed. Finally the flan for dessert is wonderful. All in all I can safely say this is my favourite eatery in Portals Nous. Prices are great too!

Flintstones Restaurant, which is situated in the main street of Portals Nous, proved very popular with my husband and I. There was a good menu and the food was well presented and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and very efficient and we would recommend the restaurant as a very pleasant place to eat out.

This pub is about a one and a half mile walk down and up hill, but was the best and basically the only one to walk to from Costa Portals Hotel. At least we were made welcome and most of Costa's guests were in there, due to the hotel staff being very unfriendly.

Lovely little bar with paved garden. Friendly staff.
Quiet location just away from main resort near Hotels
Kasai, Costa Portals & Montemar. Just the place to unwind.

The Irish Rover. Don't be fooled - this is run by a Spanish couple Jose and Cecile who have just never bothered to change the name. Jose also runs the restaurant next door, opposite the Marina Portals Hotel. Down to earth but good friendly service. Revisit and they treat you like long lost friends.
Sky sports football on for English games followed by karaoke. No one pressured to join in, in fact the young Asian girl who runs it is so good most let her carry on all night.

When we visited Portas Nous, we found it to be quiet with lots of ex pats. It didn't take us long to find a great resturant/bar. Lloyds Bar. The food was the best in the area. Everything on the menu was healthy, presentation was excellent, service second to none. The staff were great fun, they took pride in their work and made sure you felt welcome. When we were there they had only been open for a couple of weeks, but made it look like they had been there for years. Well done Lloyds Bar, we will definately visit you again.

"Great Local With Food"

This is a great little bar in season and out of season. Say hello to Gaby the friendly waiter, who will look after you like a friend. The outside terrace is a sun trap and a great place to watch the world go by. The menu del dia during the week is great value, or just relax in the sun with drinks and tapas from the bar. The place is popular with locals, both ex pats and Mallorcans, and does not feel like an English bar placed in Mallorca - unlike some.
