Playa de Las Americas Information
Playa de Las Americas is the largest and liveliest resort in Tenerife. It stretches some eight kilometres along the south west coast of the island, and three kilometres inland. It is mainly level, although the suburbs of Fañabe and Torviscas are quite hilly. There are two beaches, one of the local black volcanic sand and the other of golden sand imported from Africa.

The accommodation varies from five star hotels to one key apartments and there are numerous shops, department stores and shopping malls. There are many restaurants and bars and the night life is the best in the Canaries.

For those seeking a quieter life, the resort of Los Cristianos is only about 25 minutes walk away.

I visited this restaurant five times in my week stay. It is absolutely great. I loved everything. The service is polite, efficient and welcoming.

A very nice dish is the steak in pepper sauce which you get with salad and chips/or potato. Do ask for canary potatoes though. (Be warned, they are on the salty side). It's the cheapest place to eat too. I got a lobster with potatoes and salad for 29 euros (others are over 35 euros) and it was quite big, I must say.

One waiter in particular was very nice and friendly (Bashir) but bless him, he is harmless. Keep an eye out for their really cool boot glasses. Enjoy!

Been to Tenerfe 15 times. Made so many friends there over the years, including the great Titch Cooper (boy I love that guy, but no, I won't marry you Dave), Dorian and Jean, Dorian played Gary Glitter in 'Amanda's' and Everesto who has worked in 'Mario's' for, well his whole life.

Visit the 'Wali Hi' owned by two brothers, Martine and Jose. Love those guys, coco loco all the way, great cocktail. Titch works here Monday to Saturday, great guy, makes you laugh. Don't get to know him too well though though, he'll just pick on you like he does me - no, he's a great friend.

Also for good food, go to 'Marios', (opposite the shopping centre San Eugenio), and 'Vera 2' which is on the beach near the harbour, fantastic food.

We have found a truly outstanding singer whose name is Michael Graham. He owns a bar called Mary Rogan's, which is located on the Vista Sur complex between Las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Michael takes the time to talk to all visitors to his bar prior to going on stage. He really does make you feel welcome. His voice is without doubt one of the best on the island of Tenerife. His bar is spotlessly clean and the bar staff are very friendly. Don't take it from me, why don't you visit the bar yourself? Michael arrives on stage at about 22.20 every night apart from Tuesday's and Sunday's.

One word of warning though, get there early if you want a seat. Michael is very popular and people go back to his bar night after night.

Spent two weeks in Tenerife and I swear on my life we went here every night. I am not joking. You have to get there early to talk to world class singer Michael Graham who kind of sounds like George Michael, Elton John and a bit of Westlife thrown in. He runs a tight ship in the bar that is known as 'Mary Rogan's'. We also stayed in his luxurious top quality apartments (nice one, Michael!). Best accommodation ever.

Michael is a hit with the ladies and the men, with that Irish charm of his he. He is so funny, had me in tears.

Having visited Tenerife several times over the last few years, I have to say that 'Mary Rogan's' Irish music bar is the best evening's entertainment you will find on the whole of the island. Michael Graham the owner and all of the staff have a way of making you feel special.

The bar itself is spotlessly clean and air conditioned, the food is excellent and good value for money. Michael himself is the main source of entertainment and more than lives up to his reputation of 'Tenerife's favourite Irish singer'. If you're in Tenerife, then visiting 'Mary Rogan's' is a must.

Review title: "Is Rags Nightclub For You? Definitely"
Travel date: June 2007
This is my review on one of the nightclubs in Playa de Las Americas in Tenerife. I have been to Tenerife five times in my life, three times in the last three years. The night life, which is one of the main parts of my holiday, is fantastic with a great atmosphere and without the thuggish one you get in some places in England. In my opinion the place to really spend a few hours in throughout the night is 'Rags'. Situated on the outskirts as you walk into the heart of night life, Veronicas. No matter what time of night, even before it gets packed, it has a great feel and plays a massive variety of songs on its great sound system.

Above this club is another club called 'Tramps' which in its own way is equally as good but it is divided in to sections where they play different types of music. This is fine if you want to listen to one type of music from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. but like most people I like a variety and 'Rags' is where you get it.

By all means wander or stagger around from each of the clubs and make the most of the bargain drink deals, such as buy one, get one free, a shot each and a jug of cocktail all for the price of your first drink. It is very difficult to spend the equivalent of £100 on drink in a night over there if you make the most of these offers and play it wisely. You can go bar to bar getting these offers & really go for it and have a good one.

The sort of way we played our nights out there was go into a few bars on the way to Veronicas, then go to a beach bar called 'Bikini G's', followed by 'Yates'. Then from there wander back down the hill onto Veronica Street (you can't miss it), go to a bar called 'Sound of Cream', there are loads of bars there, so you can take your pick, then back through the tunnel to the two clubs 'Tramps' and 'Rags' at about 12 o'clockish. Just flutter between the two & you will not get bored no matter how many nights you have.

If you are going to Tenerife have a really good one but definitely visit some of the places stated as these are about as good as they get. And never enter a venue without latching onto one of the reps for the bar who are on the street as they get you the drink deals and it also keeps them getting some money in and enjoying living over there.

Oh my goodness! Just got back from Tenerife and although I was really, really ill when I was out there, I had the time of my life! I was so ill that we went out a few nights but I couldn't drink! How annoying, I know but my friend could and we found some OK bars for getting ready for going out! Of course, in town, the best places are 'Edward's', 'The Met Bar', 'Linekers', 'Downandunder' and well 'Yate's' is there but I wasn't so keen!

On the last night, we went on the 'Oh What A Night' bar crawl! Basically there are two guys that go around on the blue moped and stop groups of people to sell this night! They only stop all girl groups or all boy groups so you know everyone is going to be up for a giggle! This bar crawl was the best one I have ever done. The games were brilliant, the banter was fab and although you get totally off your face with free shoots and what ever else, you do feel really safe with these guys! To top it off the whole thing is caught on camera so if there is anything you don't remember the next day it's there to remind you although I'm not sure I wanted reminding! But no, if you get the chance to go on one of these nights then do, they cover all the best bars! But this bar crawl really isn't for boring people and you have to be able to let your hair down and be up for pretty much anything!
