Benidorm Information
Benidorm is located in the south east of Spain, on the Costa Blanca, directly on the Mediterranean Sea. It is 42 kilometres north east of Alicante and 52 kilometres from the airport. The resort stretches over five kilometres along the coast and just over a kilometre inland. There is an old town with a blue-domed church, port, white houses and narrow streets but this is surrounded by tower block hotels. The heaviest concentration of skyscraper hotels is at Rincon de Loix area and behind the Playa de Levante.

Benidorm is especially popular with young, fun-seeking singles, couples and families looking for beaches, plenty of evening entertainment and a place that caters to the British tourist. There are many discos, amusement arcades and bars, as well as an entertainment centre with shows.

Benidorm has two main beaches, separated by the old town. East of the old town is Playa de Levante and the other main beach, Poniente, is to the west of the old town. There are fewer hotels this side and the beach is quieter and less congested.

A large theme park, 'Terra Mitica' lies just outside the resort and is divided into themed areas such as ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt and includes rides, shows and interactive games.

I went to Benidorm this year with my best mate. We had the most brilliant time ever. Can't complain about anything. We were mostly hungover in the day, because we were always out in the square at night time until they shut, which is usually about 6 a.m.!

All the staff are very friendly and we got on with them all! Scuba Steve, Martin, Rob, Scott, Naughty Nikki and all the others - too many to name!

The bars were ace - 'Chaplin's', 'Red Dog' and 'Sinatra's' were our faves but the best bit was the 'Touch Of Class' bar crawl! Lots of fun and games! Usually end up with lots of embarrassing but funny photos the next day! Drinks are very cheap and you get lots of free ones anyway.

Over all, Benidorm was a fantastic holiday and a brill experience and we are hopefully going out for the season next year!

Benidorm has two beaches both of which are blue flag. The Levante beach is busy during peak months and space can be limited. The Poniente beach is quieter and in my opinion a nicer beach.

This was my third visit to Benidorm and is set to be an annual event well into the future. To escape England the week after New Year and find glorious sunshine, fabulous beaches and nightlife is just the remedy for the winter blues. You can spend as much or as little as you can afford and still enjoy what the clubs and bars have to offer. There were people of all ages in the resort and even with all the foreign visitors and residents Benidorm retains it's Spanish feel. Terrific!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say a little something about the wonderful Benidorm! I have been five times now and just love it. Can't wait to go back in March. The apartments I have stayed in are pretty basic but who cares, it's worth it just to be there! Lots of pubs, clubs and friendly people. Very enjoyable if you love to party and go wild! Also love the way the clubs are on until five or six in the morning. Would recommend it to anyone, anyone that is fit enough. Ha Ha!

What can I say? I loved it. The area itself is great, the shops are a little repetitive, but there's not much you can't get, the night life is fantastic, and there's no problem with the food.

This was our first holiday abroad, and we've been again since and one day, with a little luck, we hope to move out here and retire.

If you're thinking of going to Benidorm you'll love it, but go for the Levante area rather than the Poniente because there is loads more to do.

I have not had any sort of problems in Benidorm except for parking and being bitten by gnats. I would recommend it to everyone, but certain ages find it better to go at different times of the year.

One of the places that we went to for food was 'Cheap And Cheerful' The food is great and very cheap. It only cost two euros for a bacon and cheese baguette and I couldn't eat it all. This place is some where to visit. The staff are friendly and to say the food is so cheap, it tastes great too! Visit there!

This was my first time in Benidorm, and to be honest, the place was a lot better than I first expected. I went with my wife self catering, so we ate out most nights. We happened to go out to ‘Ray's Chippy 2'. It had been recommended by friends, but what a waste of time going there was. The prices were very over inflated! It was only fish and chips. We were charged extra for everything - tartar sauce, mayonnaise, extra for wine. That's all it was, was one more charge after the other, and as for the staff, very rude and ignorant. They were about my age, mid fifties, so I thought they would be courteous but they were very rude and more interested in gossiping than serving anyone. I would recommend people not to go there and try somewhere else.

Five minutes later looked around to see the two guys who were working in the bar kissing each other. I'm not homophobic but I think there is a time and a place for this. Maybe this was just me or maybe it is a gay bar. Visited this bar last year. It was run by a young couple from Leeds, like me. That's why I returned. First time we visited the lady owner never spoke when we entered and just sat at the bar. But you like to give people the benefit of the doubt so we went a couple of nights later expecting her to say at least hello, having spent quite a bit in there previously. No, never even asked what we wanted - waited for us to tell her and can now see why everyone left after the Sunday quiz finished. We will definitely never return to this bar.

We've just returned from the Monika Holidays in Benidorm and it was OK. Very big, lots to do and a nice resort out of the hotel, not too busy. We visited all the English bars in the area. We would like to thank the couple who own the bar opposite to the Monika bar 'Casablanca'. They gave us top notch grub - the best English breakfast we've had on a holiday. Marks been a chef in some of the Benidorm hotels so we sampled his Sunday lunch - it was large, tasty and hot and followed by a pudding. If you're there, go and see for yourself!

We found the 'Casablanca Bar' when we had been to the local market one afternoon. It is opposite the Monika Holidays Apartments. We got on really well with the English couple that own the bar. They only took over in March but the bar was well kept and the meals they did were great, especially the lasagne. They also had entertainment some nights, which we went along to. I would recommend it for a daytime snack or evening meal or even just a few relaxing drinks (which more often than not turns in to a lot of drinks especially when the wine was only €1 a glass!) I can't wait to go back when we over there again in winter.

Went on holiday to La Cala de Finestrat, Benidorm. Stayed in Monica Holidays which was absolutely awful so decided to go into some local bars. Went into the 'Casablanca' bar opposite Monika Holidays. At first, the bar seemed nice until a couple of hours later when the staff and management of the bar were completely drunk and acting very unfriendly to holiday makers. The only people they seemed to be talking to were the locals who were more drunk than them - falling of chairs and the language was awful. The only worse thing than this was the fact that they were all English. If you are ever in La Cala Benidorm and staying in Monica, I would seriously recommend to keep away from 'Casablanca' bar unless you are ready for an unfriendly, very drunken reception.

Having lived in Spain for the last eight months, we were really looking forward to the 'Best English food in Benidorm' as the sign said. Staff very arrogant and making rude hand signals about any fat people in the bar/restuarant (behind their backs). The food was either soggy or very burnt, with the chips tasting of 'old oil'. In the short time we were there, two people walked out stating they had never come across such rude staff and long awaited meals were sent back. Personally having watched documentaries showing what happens to food which is sent back (i.e. staff spitting in the new food etc.), I choose not to complain! However we did mention the fact that my pork chop tasted as if it should have been binned about two weeks ago (it was fizzy with a vile after taste) and that my bacon was so burnt it crumbled when I tried to cut it, to which the surly waitress simply replied 'oh'. If the people in there are the owners, they should sell up, as they have so obviously been doing it too long and if they are not, I pity the poor investment they have made. My advice to you all, don't waste your money, keep on walking past this cafe down to the seafront where there are top notch eateries with excellent staff!

I recommend to stay away from what is known as the ?Square' in Benidorm and if you are looking to go clubbing, then stick to the see front where there are many pubs and clubs in a much more safe environment with police patrol on watch along the beach.

Couldn't go to Benidorm and miss this. It was a wonderful day out. Ideal for everybody. You can see the parrots up to their tricks, penguins at play, sea lions wallowing in the sun; to name only a few. The act that stole the show of course were those beautiful dolphins. You will realise what excellent value for money it is when you've explored the sights and seen the displays. You could spend all day there.

There is a restaurant and snack bars on site, and also a picnic area should you choose to take your own. We went each way by taxi from the local rank not far from Riudor Hotel, Costa Blanca and it cost just under four euros each way. A really good day out for all the family AND you've got the added advantage of Aqualandia right next door.

Terra Mitica was great. If you like getting wet, you'll enjoy this park. They have about five water rides and one you even go down the hill backwards. It's great fun and a real laugh!!!

Also they have fun and high up roller coasters even if you are afraid of heights you'll love it and there is lots to do and amazing shows and places to eat. You just have to go!!!!!!!!

Mundamar is great fun and you will love it! They have wonderful, funny shows that show dolphins, sealions, whales and you can see animals in their own natural environment. It's great!!! We stayed at the Hotel Flamingo Oasis which is all inclusive and a great location just down the road of Mundarmar !!!!!!!

Just got back from another week in Benidorm (old town). I change my money in the same place in the old town, in the centre. They sell tickets sort of like a travel agent. You don't get ripped off in this place and it's about the only one that is honest, but, they are so rude. Not a hello, they snatch the money and I have seen them take the money off a man as if it was contaminated with something. So from now on, I'm going to change my money at the Eurotobacco in the Rincon. You get a better rate and the staff are so nice too. Hope this helps as people like us keep their business going and you don't need to be treated like that.

Make sure you go and see Danny Downing in Steptoes II. He is brilliant. You can't miss his show. The best act in Benidorm. As he comes out on stage he's wearing a balaclava, white socks with sandals (classy) with a baseball bat in his hand. Don't sit near the front because he'll have you. Ten out of ten.

Terra Mitica theme park is a good place to go for a change.
It is well laid out and the rides are exciting. There is a free bus service to take you there and the journey takes about 15 minutes. A service bus to take you back into Benidorm which cost one euro. There are rides at the park for all the family. Recommended.

This is the best water park that our family has ever been to. It is excellent value for money. There are so many slides and water attractions there, never a dull moment. If you like water parks you will definitely love this one. Something here for the whole family, even sun loungers. The park is very easy to get to from Benidorm on the bus at a cost of one euro and they run about every 20 minutes - journey time ten minutes.

It wasn't my first time in Benidorm and it won't be my last. I have been to Benidorm twice but my first time at Terra Mitica was brilliant. It was a bit pricey to get in the park but it was worth it. I loved all the rides – there weren't big queues for the rides.

We were staying in Alicante but my nan stayed in the 'Orange' hotel. We went there and it was lovely. The food, the people and the pool so if you want to go to Benidorm, I recommend that it is a lovely holiday resort for every family to go.

Review title: "Fab Rides At Terra Mitica"
Travel date: June 2006
We visited Terra Mitica during our stay in Benidorm. We set off around 10 a.m. on the local bus - which cost less than two euros for about a 15 minute journey from Levante Beach. We paid 33 euros which was great value for money as we were there until about 6 p.m.! Plenty of rides for all ages. 'Tizona' is great for those adrenaline seekers - very similar to 'Nemesis' at Alton Towers and 'Titans Fury' is a great water ride - you get absolutely soaked but soon dry off in the hot Benidorm sun.

Terra Mitica is absolutely massive - all the rides are spread out so plenty of walking to do. But its not just about the rides - there are various shows to watch - although most spoken in Spanish! Overall a great day out for all ages.
