Los Cristianos Information
Los Cristianos is a town situated on the south coast of the Canary Islands of Tenerife. The quieter resort of Los Cristianos is right next to the lively resort of Playa de Las Americas. Los Cristianos has a history that predates the tourist boom of the 1970s and 80s. For many years this was a quiet fishing village and it still has evidence of its humble origins in the typical Canarian architecture of the older buildings. Nowadays, however, the town offers a lively holiday experience with its two sandy beaches, many bars and restaurants and its year round sunny climate. There is accommodation to suit all budgets including hotels, self catering apartments and time share resorts. There are also many excursions focused around the town's busy port including dolphin and whale watching as well as game fishing trips and party cruises.

Ferry services to La Gomera as well as to the other islands still exist.

Review title: "My Favourite Bolt-Hole"
Travel date: October 2005
This town is my favourite bolt-hole. It is at once quiet and relaxing or if you want lively and vibrant. If you want to 'bop 'til you drop' get a taxi and about five-ten minutes away you are in Las Americas and all the night clubs, but the great thing about Los Cristianos is that the Spanish choose to live there and there is a bye-law that all street entertainment stops at midnight. This doesn't mean the town closes, but it does mean you can get a night's sleep if you want without the incessant bass-beat of the nightclubs.

It is a lovely port with a good beach and lots of good restaurants, for instance, cabanas and bars; not the least of which is 'Chicago's' which has its own website; if you can get into the 'Cine-Bar', what is on the menu is what was caught that day by the family's fishing boat. You can, if you want, eat English particularly in 'Rumours' opposite the Arona Gran Hotel and there are many English and Irish pubs and bars which will serve English food. You will be missing out though if you don't try some of the Spanish cuisine which is very good.

If you walk into the town by going up the hill away from the beach you will find lots of shops selling all sorts of clothes, souvenirs and stuff and many more good restaurants and jewellers. From the dock you can go whale watching or game fishing or a fun trip on the 'Pirate Ship'. Just before the beach there is a square with a kids' play area and if you take the street just behind it from the beach you will find good restaurants including 'Café Montmartre' and 'Admiral Travel' where you will get good prices on tours and excursions around the island especially the Loro Parque which is a must, but a very full day. I can fully recommend Los Cristianos, I've been many times and intend to go back many more.

To put it mildly their food is rubbish and if you complain, you have to go through the embarrassment of the cook's inquisition whilst everyone else looks on - and they still charge you for chips!

Sandra and Gerry and the bar staff will make you have a night to remember. Beautiful views from the terrace and the drinks are big measures, not expensive either. If you sing you are more than welcome to get up.

Review title: "Rob Roy - The Place To Be"
Travel date: July 2009
My wife and I have been going to Tenerife for some 24 years now, My kids think of it as their second home. Los Cristianos is, in my mind, the place to be. Most of the streets are pedestrianised, which is great for young families, the bars are family friendly and the restaurants are great but the pub I like the best has got to be the 'Rob Roy' bar which is located in a quiet street, near the harbour.

The bar is run by Helen and Allan who are flawless hosts, the food is excellent and Allan makes a mean sangria. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Review title: "Irish Bar"
Travel date: October 2008
This bar is run by Gerry Higgins from Galway and Sandra from East Kilbride. Gerry does live music every night.
There is a Sunday session from 5 p.m. until late with free Irish stew made by Gerry. Different musicians play during the evening.

Open from 12 midday and they serve snacks and burgers. The view from the terrace is fantastic and has sun all day. Parasols are available if you need shade. Internet available as well.

You must try this place. Run by Frankie who is the chef.
The food is fantastic and the coffee is the best I have ever had. If you have never had tapas before, Frankie will explain. Try it and you too will love it.

Used to go there every other night. Very trendy and would suit young and old and kids are very welcome. Paul and his wife can't do enough for you. The food is something else - go starving for the breakfast as it's huge and well priced. Great crack. See you at Xmas.

So strange. I read a review on here entitled 'Amigos is Rubbish' and cannot understand it because we have always found 'Amigos' one of the best cafe/restaurants in Los Cristianos. The food is always top class and always plenty. The staff are always very helpful, especially if you have kids that need entertaining. Try the 'Amigos' fish and chips. It's true - they are the best ever.
