The old town of Alcudia is a restored walled city on the site of a Roman settlement, with remains of Roman houses and an amphitheatre. In recent years, the local council has been improving the appearance and general upkeep of the public areas of the town. The city is entered through one of the two town gates, the Portal de Moll, which has two square towers and two palm trees standing guard, this being the symbol of Alcudia.
