Side Information
The city of Side (pronounced see-day) is one of the most important historical places in Turkey, with many ancient ruins. Situated on a promontory on the Mediterranean coast of Southern Turkey, it is near to Manavgat and about 75 kilometres west of Antalya. Side was founded in the 7th century BC and was originally a Greek town. Over the centuries it has been ruled by many different peoples under such as Alexander the Great and the Roman General Pompey. The city has been sacked and abandoned many times. Now it is a tourist resort with many five and four star Hotels in the area.
