The village of Espot is situated at about 1,219 metres, in the valley of the River Escrita in the Pallors Sobira region of the Lleida province. This was originally an isolated village with a medieval watch tower and a Romanesque bridge but with the opening of the Espot Esqui ski resort, some one kilometre from the village, access has been greatly improved. Espot is one of the gateways to the Aigustortes i Estany Sant Maruci national park.
