Andüjar is a town situated in the foothills of the Sierra Morena, some 60 kilometres north of Jaen. This is an historic town with a number of old buildings. It is on the right bank of the river Guadalquivir and the Madrid-Córdoba railway.

Andújar is known for its porous earthenware jars, called 'alcarrazas' which are manufactured from a whitish clay found in the neighbourhood.
