Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic Islands, being about 50 kilometres long by 16 kilometres wide. There are more beaches on Menorca than on all the other Balearic Islands put together. The capital is Mahon (or Mao) with its harbour in the east of the island and the other large town is Ciutadella which is at the western end. This is a much quieter island than Mallorca or Ibiza, not having the hectic night life of its neighbours.
