The island of Ibiza is the second largest of the Balearic Islands, situated in the Mediterranean some 160 kilometres east of the coast of mainland Spain. Ibiza is only about 50 kilometres by 19 kilometres at its widest, but is one of Europe's trendiest tourist destinations, with its night clubs and huge discos. The coast has about 17 kilometres of beaches in total, with many small hidden beaches, as well as the very crowded beaches in the main resorts. Ibiza Town (also known as Eivissa) is the main resort, full of clubs, bars, discos and shops, plus two large beaches. San Antonio is a package holiday resort, but again with a very lively night life and Santa Eulalia is a family resort.
