The three star Imperial Hotel was established in 1865. It is located within five minutes walk both to the sea and to a shopping centre. Nearby one can also experience views of the Marsamxett Harbour, with its picturesque Manoel Island and an imposing Valletta as a backdrop.

The hotel boasts an architectural influence of the high Victorian period. At that time Malta was a British colony and many of the people starting imitating British lifestyles, including building their stately homes along their architectural styles. The hotel boasts a sweeping staircase in its lobby. The furniture that is found in the hotel includes several unique pieces amongst which a mantelpiece clock dating back from Louis XIV, as well as some antique mirrors in the lobby. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine in classical settings. The bar serves a variety of cocktails, there is a television room, internet facilities, swimming pool set in the gardens, sun terrace and a games room with a snooker table and gym equipment.

The Imperial offers 95 bedrooms, all furnished with bathroom, air-conditioning, central heating, telephone, radio, television, tea and coffee making facilities and safety deposit box (at an extra charge). Most rooms have a view of the gardens and swimming pool whilst some overlook some typical streets in Sliema.

This is a wonderful hotel. My family and I have been to Malta twice, each time staying at the Imperial Hotel. Given the choice, we would not stay anywhere else on the island. The staff are very friendly, the food is good and the atmosphere one of relaxation. In terms of location, you couldn't ask for anything better. Can't wait until next time!

Thank goodness for the friendly staff!! The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment with rooms spartan and dingy, with the bathrooms especially needing upgrading. We were lucky, we had a good maid, others weren't so fortunate!

Parts of the hotel are extremely noisy with guests being awoken early by laundry trolleys being pushed about. Food is poor, with the breakfast crockery chipped and stained. No way is this a three star superior hotel - one to avoid!
