Me and my boyfriend stayed for a week at Ipanema in September and totally loved it. The weather was hot, hot hot, the rooms were basic but clean, the pool was lovely but cold, the food was great - a lot of choice, the entertainer, James, was lovely and involved everyone in the activities around the bar on a night, the atmosphere is fantastic and the bar staff are great. We will definitely be going back here.

The only downfall was the cockroach we had in our room but after killing it, all was well and really, what do you expect, you're abroad and you're going to find a few somewhere!

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely be going back - we loved it.

We stayed at the Ipanema and were pleasantly surprised. We read a few bad reports about the place before we went, but it was beautiful, so good we are going back soon! Rooms were very clean, seven out of eight days they were cleaned, staff very friendly and the views, wow! Overlooking the marina, couldn't fault it. I have taken loads of photos.

Do you like cockroaches? I do hope so. They will be living with you and drinking from your glasses and teacups and of course, sharing your bed. No room for your partner and they are massive.

Lovely staff, wonderful view, filthy pool, filthy apartments. Great restaurant if you don't mind cockroaches falling on your head as you eat. What a shame. Could be a great place.
