To start with, we were supposed to be staying in hotel Paradis Park. It seems that it doesn't matter what H. Top hotel you book in to, you just get allocated on arrival!
When we got to the hotel Olympic it looked great and it was really clean. We couldn't really fault it, except the food was so repetitive. We were all inclusive but we ate out every night! If you're a family with small children, it'd most likely be a great holiday, but definitely not for me.

I looked at reviews before me and my boyfriend went to the Olympic and I thought 'Oh my goodness' but please don't listen to everything that people say. It was very clean, you did have to wait for a drink but not 20 minutes. Food, yeah was horrible and it was the same thing everyday. We ate out everyday but it can't be that bad everyone was eating it. Me and my boyfriend are fussy but the money you pay is worth it, especially with your drinks.
We went school holiday all inclusive for £900. Air con was very good and the room was cleaned every day. Entertainment was rubbish but we sat outside because you couldn't smoke in there but while sitting out side we met some really nice people. Staff was very friendly. We had a laugh with them and as for the chairs around swimming pool, there was loads of them but like anywhere you go, you have to get there early to get one. If you haven't got a lot of money and you can only afford a three star hotel, you can't expect a palace.

When reading reviews before we went, we were very worried but the hotel was OK, apart from poor air conditioning. Beds and towels were changed everyday. Queues at the bar at night in hotel were too long and not enough staff on. The food was OK. There was a change if you were willing to try different things.
You had to get up at 7.00-7.30 a.m. to get your sunbeds around the pool area. Saw a couple of arguments about sunbeds.
Because it was so hot inside the bar area at night, we were going to a bar which was just next door called 'Western Ranch' - one pint for one euro so that was OK.
Do not go to the Olympic hotel if you have no children. In general, an average hotel but worth the money.

We booked this hotel without even researching into it. We read a lot of reviews and started to have doubts. However, when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised.
The Olympic hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The entertainment staff were brilliant with the adults' activities - always trying to get us to try something new. We did archery, riffle shooting and a lot of other activities.
The only downfall would be the food. We all ate chips and cheese every night because that's the only decent thing they had out.
I would recommend this holiday to young groups (like we were) and not to family, as it does get very noisy.

"Avoid At All Costs"

I'm so gklad to be home. Would not recommend. Unfortunately our tour operator booked us into this hotel and not our required choice of Olympic Park in Lloret de Mar.
Myself (32), my husband (36) and six year old son were all inclusive and arrived on 19 May 2008, By 21 May we were ready to leave! Unfortunately we had to wait until 29th May.
Room: Paper thin walls (which we took into account when it came to the neighbours). We got a maximum of five hours sleep if we were lucky. Wardrobe did not open and light bulb blown - did not get repaired/replaced although we reported this every day. Bath did not drain properly and we showered in a three inch pool of water. Shower was hot, but water did not come out properly. Rooms are very small and it was a squeeze for three of us - not enough wardrobe space for three. Beds were made every day, but sheets were never changed in the whole time we were there. Very., very, very basic. When neighbours shut their door, the mirror fell off the wall. No air conditioing.
Food/drink: Was always either pork, fish or turkey. Always cold. No consistency when the food was replaced. Started with boiled potatoes and changed for roast potatoes half way through the sitting. I found a piece of plastic in my blancmange and the staff were not interested when I complained. Desserts were always the same, lack of variety and cakes all had nuts in them. The food was awful - not allowed to take food/drink into restaurant or take it out. Tables packed so close together that when you were sitting, you couldn't get out. The snacks are in the restaurant, so if you are lying by the freezing cold pool, you have to go inside. Beer/fizzy drinks always flat.
All inclusive: All inclusive did not mean all inclusive! You basically drank what you were told. Could only order two drinks at a time, three members of bar staff, serving queues on average of 20 people. Would take a minimum of 20 minutes to get served. Very limited on what you could have.
Kiddy Club: My son was bored. Colouring, playing babyish games. Took children to the beach, without advising parents - we did not know where our son was for half an hour. Evening activities started at 9 p.m. until 10.30 p.m. which is far too late for children.
Hotel Staff: Very nice to begin with until you had a complaint or issue. Then they were very rude and ignorant. We complained every night about the noisy neighbours by 'phone as we were told to, but ended up going from floor seven to ground floor reception in pyjamas to complain. Only interested in taking money for their excursions and then giving false information and argued they were right, when they were actually wrong. Very argumentative. Would not help us with finding out about excursions that they didn't organise. Waitresses arguing during meal times while clearing tables at the speed of a snail and leaving the trolley with the dirty plates behind tables. There is not enough staff to cater for a hotel of this size.
Miscellaneous: The smell in the hallways of fish and rotting meat is so offensive. This is a glorified hostel.
Local Amenities: Calella town is lovely, but there is a lot of walking - this high street is so long. There is a train that runs through the streets, which was great. Lots of friendly local bars and places for the children. A tobacconist and supermarkets. 300 yards from the beach, which was great. You can play volleyball and football, sun loungers are available and a few bars. It's better to sunbathe on the beach, because the hotel pool has got a lot of shade and there weren't enough loungers for the number of guests.
Please don't book in the Olympic.

I know we went out of season but the hotel should have shut down and started a refurbishment in my opinion.
Some of the staff were rude and if you didn't get out of the room when the cleaner came to your door, she never came back. There was also no set time she would arrive so it was a hit or miss if your room got cleaned.
Our room was dark and dingy and the bathroom was awful. I know it was cheap but we deserve at least a clean room and decent food ,not the cold slop they served. All the room walls are so thin you can even hear everything and I do mean everything!
I will not return to the Olympic hotel. I know people do like it so this is just my opinion.
If you love shoes, Calella is the place to go and take the train to Barcalona, it's only €6.20 return as opposed to the planned excursion which is €22 - big difference - and the trains run every 15 minutes.

My hubby, son and myself slept at the Olympic hotel. The food was not very good but it is if you like pork, tukey or fish as that is what you are given every day for dinner and tea.
Rooms very squashed. Three single beds pushed together and walls paper thin. Take more money to eat out.
Calella itself was nice, not a lot going on. I would advise people to use the other H Top hotels.

Service really bad at the Olympic. Food bad, entertainment rubbish, children and young people just left to run about, security couldn't have cared less.
Calella OK. Best place is local pub just down the road. 'Gringo Joes'/'White Horse' this was a life saver without that we would have come home first day.
This hotel and some of the guests really put you off Spain. Be warned, stay clear of this hotel if you want a good holiday.

Our stay at the Olympic Hotel in Calella was very good. Fabulous food with a wide choice. Rooms a little tatty but cleaned daily with fresh towels.
Extremely popular and a little busy around the pool but the clean beach was about a ten minute walk. Great and reasonably priced.

"Olympic Hotel Is Rubbish"

Myself and my wife and young son stayed here for one week. It felt like two years. Loud youths running up and down corridors at all times of the night, the staff were really unhelpful apart from the Scottish lady on the front desk - she was great. The entertainment was really bad. At the beginning of every night they had a disco on for the kids with a DJ that never got the crowd going. He just stood there playing 'Agadoo'. Don't mind 'Agadoo' but when you hear that every night at the same time, it's bad.
The food was bad as well, just say warm. They had microwaves there but not turned on. When you asked the staff to turn them, on they took no notice. I managed to wait for a drink for 30 minutes from a barman who didn't care one bit and got my drink in two plastic beakers.
Overall, I will never set foot in this hotel again. Calella is OK apart from one bar, it's called 'Malibu' in the main street. It says it's English food. Well, it is. but rubbish. The helpings are really bad for the price you pay. The service is good, very chatty waiter but owner is English and asked me to leave and not come back to his place because I complained about the food I got and he didn't like it so I'll never go there again and if anyone likes good food and lots of it, don't go here.

My husband and I have just returned from this hotel. It is definitely not quiet. We were kept awake every night with shouting, swearing, people banging on doors etc. They have a large turn over of guests which are mainly young people from other countries that arrive by the coach load most days. It is very much in need of refurbishment throughout. The rooms are very small and not as clean as you would expect, going on our past experience of three star hotels. It should be classed as an 18-30's hotel. More like a youth hostel and not a hotel. Don't go there.

Accommodation quite good, clean and tidy. Could hear a pin drop - pity it was about two floors away though. Food was terrible apart from the salads which were the only thing edible. It was well presented but of poor quality. Is this the same Hotel Olympic people raved about last year? Guess not.
I stayed AI and it cost me more to eat out. I suggest anyone staying there in the future asks in more depth about this place but then again, there are yards more punters out there to take the offers up. I have been bitten once - never again. Oh! and the alcohol was OK but the mixers - how all of them can taste the same and look different beats me.

This hotel felt like a youth hostel with paper thin walls. Noise level was horrendous and very difficult to sleep at night due to uncontrollable students shouting and screaming down the corridors in the middle of the night. There were also two people mugged outside the hotel within a day of each other.
Food: not much choice and for three star rating disgusting. So, to sum up, don't waste your hard earned money. Choose another hotel but read reviews.

Clean, food was good, entertainment every night, good for children. Three pools so lots of room for a dip. A large hotel with more then 700 people but we didn't have to queue for meals. If you only like British food e.g. burger, chips etc, you won't like the food. But if you are willing to eat the food of the country you are in, I thought the food was good and you can visit other hotels in the group which was good.
If you are young and like to drink and fall into bed in the early hours, you'll like it. But if you like to get a nights sleep and aren't anesthetised, you won't get much sleep as its very noisy at night with large groups of young Spanish and Germans banging doors and shouting and laughing half the night. But price was good and I would go there again.

The hotel is clean and there is quite a good choice of food. We went half board and found everything satisfactory apart from the fact that drinks (not even water) were not included with dinner and a small bottle of water or can of coke cost about £1.50. Staff were not overly happy and we believe it was due to the fact that there was not enough bar staff to cover the all inclusive holiday makers. All inclusive = no tip = possibly no incentive?.
Our room was very small with four beds crammed into it but the room was cleaned every day and we got such a cheap deal that we considered ourselves fortunate.
Having three pools meant that we could have an undisturbed swim and we all enjoyed our holiday very much. The kid's club was non existent to the extent that we never even realised that they had one. Entertainment here is not brilliant but overall we paid less than £600 for two adults and two children half board in June so we cannot complain.
These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
