The food was beautiful, the hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the kids' club was very useful and the Medplaya entertainment team were out of this world.
I am booking now the Calypso for September and I am booking next week to go back with my friends next year, all 15 of us and I can't wait.

The hotel has loads to offer. The buffet has an excellent choice/variety. The rooms are spotless plus cleaned every day. There's great entertainment every night for kids as well as adults. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Entertainment staff fantastic, something for everyone. Food, well, that's another story, if you like chips for every meal! Beware if you stay here between May and June as Spanish school kids practically take over the place. Would go back to the Calypso again if they sort the food out.
Shopkeepers are so pushy you can't even look round a shop within being hounded in to trying to buy something, also the prices of food etc is a bit pricey. Not what you would expect on holiday.

"Wouldn't Visit Calypso Hotel Again"

Stayed at hotel for two weeks but wouldn't want to go back. We stayed in poor end of hotel - only Spanish, Dutch, Germans get to stay in nice block of hotel. Food was awful, unless you like salad and chips for two weeks. The roof leaked when it rained and wet the bed but we were not offered another room, just towels to mop wet up.
Salou itself was nice. Been to Cambrils last year and found it much cleaner. Plenty of dog muck and glass all over near Hotel Calypso. Entertainment was poor. Would recommend Salou for family holiday. Wouldn't go back to Calypso, even if we won the free holiday with Mr or Miss Calypso!

"Calypso Hotel - Don't Bother"

Food great, staff in dining room great, everything else, forget it. Don't go in May, brochure said may have Spanish children staying - it was running with them. They ranged from 11 to 18. I travelled with my husband, my son, his wife and two children and my daughter, her husband and two children. All four children were under five.
We have just returned yesterday, after being there for 10 days. On four occasions we had to call security to stop the kids screaming up and down the corridors at one and two in the morning, but the reception staff were reluctant to do this for us. Other Spanish, Italian, German, French guests stayed in the main part of the hotel. All English guests are placed in another part of the hotel.
Beaches lovely, shop owners very pushy. Salou dirty compared to when we visited six years ago. Port Aventura great, which was the main reason we went there, but if we ever went again, Hotel Calypso would be the very last hotel we chose.

Absolutely great stay. Everything was perfect - from the food, to the staff, to the surrounding areas. The hotel was spotless inside and out. I'll be back in October. Looking forward to it already!
