Review title: "Do Not Let Your Holiday Be Ruined - Be Warned"
Travel date: June 2008
This is no joke. You do not want to stay in this hotel. Be warned, it will put a downer on your holiday. Anything is better than hotel Don Juan.

To cut a very long story as short as I can - unhelpful staff, unclean (i.e. dead cockroaches on side of pool!) and food worse than school dinners. For details, please read on: I arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m. Check in opens at 2 p.m., so you would think that everything would be ready for you, well, it won't be. I was not greeted, I had to approach the unbelievably unhelpful staff myself to check in and when given my key, had to find my way to my room. When I found it, the door was wide open, it hadn't been cleaned, it smelt of wee, the bathroom lights flickered and the balcony door lock had been snapped (possibly a break in). I rang reception immediately and they said they would send someone up. I waited and waited and waited but no one came. I rang again, only for the reception to tell me I would have to wait as they were too busy and the cleaner had gone on her lunch. This made me really mad. I had to go back down to reception and literally scream at them for them to understand me. Eventually, about an hour later, I was given another room. I thought this would be the end of my troubles, but it wasn't by far,

Dinner was worse than school dinners - cold and everything tasted like it had been soaked in oil, no joke. You could probably injure someone with the bread rolls they were so solid. After finding a dead cockroach by the side of the pool, it made me feel sick even looking at their so called food.

One man at reception said to me all 'You English are the same mentality, you're all chaos', all because I accidentally locked my key in my room. They would only let me back in my room with a security guard, who sniffed around my room and then took my alcohol and confiscated it, which I had brought for a gift for my dad, it wasn't even open! I spoke to other guests who had forgotten their key card to get the key from behind reception and they would just say their room number to get their key and it would just be handed over.

I was only given two tiny bits of soap to use for a stay of seven days, which was used within the first three and it was not replaced. The towels had brown stains on!

When we tried to check out at the end of our nightmare seven days, we were refused our deposit, as some young lads staying right over the opposite side of the hotel trashed their rooms and the tennis courts. Somehow, all young people in the hotel were taking the blame. I didn't even know what was going on as the hotel staff wouldn't even give me a reason why I couldn't have it back. Some kind English person informed me of what had happened. We had to wait around five hours to get only half our deposit back. They even threatened to call the police, even though i hadn't done anything wrong. I just wanted what was rightfully mine and didn't appreciate being blanked and lied to.

Please do not ruin your holiday by staying in a place like this. Always read reviews. Believe me, we were not the only unhappy guests.

Review title: "Very Poor"
Travel date: October 2007
The Don Juan is a very poor hotel. The food too spanish for my liking and the breakfasts a joke. I hope I never see a boiled egg again. I know how Paul Newman felt in 'Cool Hand Luke'. I met a nice couple from Tamworth who, like me, thought the food was very poor.
