The four star Gran Durango Hotel was opened in 1998. It is in the renovated Durango Palace, a 19th century building and is designated as an historical Monument. It is located in Durango, 15 minutes from Bilbao and next to the A8 motorway, which joins Bilbao with France. It is surrounded by fields and is close to the Urkiola and Gorbea natural parks.

The hotel has 69 rooms, all equipped with a bathroom with hair dryer, radio, internet access, air conditioning, central heating, safety deposit box, desk and satellite television.

Facilities at the Gran Durango include a restaurant serving Basque cuisine, 24 hour room service, car parking, bar, business facilities and six function rooms with a capacity of up to 250 people.
