The five star Choupana Hills Resort and Spa is situated at an altitude of 550 metres overlooking Funchal. Built in 2002 with an African and Asian influence this bungalow resort is about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Funchal, on the southern coast of Madeira.

The accommodation, at the Choupana Hills, comprises 56 rooms, 4 suites, and two family bungalows, in 34 bungalows set in the gardens of the resort, each room having a bathroom with hairdryer, and being equipped with air conditioning, cable television, DVD player, a telephone, a minibar and coffee and tea making equipment.

The facilities, at the Hotel, are as would be expected of a five star establishment and include a restaurant, 2 bars, 24 hour reception and room service, a lounge/library, laundry service, a souvenir shop, internet and Wi-fi access, and two conference/meeting rooms. The Hotel also has a heated outdoor swimming pool, a pool bar, a gym, an indoor pool and a Spa offering various baths, treatments and massages. A courtesy bus is provided to and from Funchal.
