"Great Holiday"
Travel date:
June 2009
Just arrived back today from the Sunclub. Me, my husband and three year old daughter had a lovely time. The apartments were very spacious, roomy, clean and tidy. Lovely big balconies and everything you might need there (other than a kettle - definitely worth taking a travel kettle as the hob takes forever to boil water). There was a microwave, two ring electric cooker, extractor fan, toaster, juicer, jug, pots, pans and the usual crockery plus a tea towel which amazed me as I've never been self catering anywhere and been give a tea towel!
The bathroom was spacious and shower lovely and powerful, hot water a plenty and clean towels frequently. There's a hair dryer too so no need to pack one! Absolutely loads of wardrobe space - two in the main bedroom and two in the living area.
The pool is average sized but clean and tidy. There is a small children's pool and a park, which to be honest is literally a slide and Wendy house but a small basketball/football area to the side of it. Sunbeds were in short supply but there was only one day when we didn't manage to get them and there's a little grass so we put our towels on there. The poolside is shaded in the mornings but come lunchtime its great!
Two lifts in the hotel, quite small but we never seemed to wait long at all. Reception staff all spoke good English and were very helpful and polite. Bar staff and shop staff English speaking too.
The take away and restaurant were average but OK for a quick pizza or burger. It's better to walk into the village if you'd prefer a good evening meal. Prices seemed steep but its our Euro exchange rate which is the problem. The prices over there haven't really changed, it's just we are getting a lot less Euros for our Sterling. Prices of take out in Euro - chips 2.60, burger 4.20, pizza 7.20, bacon sandwich 4.20, coca cola 2.10, San Miguel 2.60 ('Happy Hour' 2-4-1 between 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
The shop has a cash machine and was OK priced. Bottled water 0.45, ice creams 1.50 and all English newspapers two Euros. Initially we found the food and drink costly but its again the exchange rate, not the shops/restaurants at fault.
In Cap Salou village there are a few supermarkets and gift shops and a small funfair which has two bars, serves food and has nightly entertainment. It's not fantastically polished but has a lovely holiday atmosphere and my little girl loved it. There are some trampolines, electric dodgem cars, inflatable slide/castle, flying plane roundabout and plenty of football, air hockey tables and a small shooting range.
The 'Smugglers' Inn' was great. Staff all friendly and mainly English. My husband had a T-Bone steak and its was huge and so tender!
'The Paddock' was also a lovely place to eat with such friendly staff and a vast menu including rabbit, of all things!
Transport into Salou was frequent with buses every few minutes and priced at 1.85 Euros. A little train (well, it has wheels so not a real one!) was a lovely way to get into Salou. It cost three Euros per trip but worth every penny. The green line and blue lines both went into Salou and stopped directly outside the hotel. A small taxi rank outside too.
The hotel is on a steep incline but we had a buggy and to be honest, it's a short walk so doesn't tire you out too much (secret is to have a beer before attempting and it doesn't feel so bad at all).
We didn't really stay to watch any entertainment but it was on in the hotel nightly, plus kids' club stuff going on most of the time.
To be honest, I read tons of bad reviews before we went and was quite concerned but we shouldn't have been at all. Lovely place, lovely people and to be honest, it is a mainly self catering place, therefore it's never going to be a plush five star hotel is it?!
Well worth a visit - great fun! Oh - beaches lovely too.

"Dirty Rooms"
Travel date:
May 2009
Just back from a week's holidays at the Sunclub. Very disappointed with the rooms. I spent four hours changing the bed linen, washing and cleaning the bathroom after the last family. I was told by staff when I got there they would try and get to it themselves - that never happened.
I have always booked holidays through Falcon and they have never failed to please. The sunclub is really giving them a bad name.
Bring ear-plugs as the walls are paper thin. The reps doing the entertainment by night are really nice and were so kind to my three kids. Be careful if using the pool as we came across four pint glasses while swimming. Told reception and they said nothing.
I would just like to add I'm never one to complain and usually would not have the time to sit and write this but i do hope it helps.

Firstly, I would like to say when reading reviews, you do have to be careful. If I had taken on board what was said about this hotel, I would have missed out on a wonderful holiday at the Sunclub with my husband.
Reviews we had read stated stating poor accommodation, rudeness and facilities were sub standard. Well, I have just returned from a beautiful break.
When we arrived, I was shocked as the room was huge and immaculate. The staff spoke English, were so helpful and they did not try to sell you excursions etc.
The area is quiet. There isn't a great deal but there are the most beautiful coves and walks and the restaurants that are there were good, clean and welcoming. The buses run from outside the hotel, are cheap and within 15 minutes you are in Salou or La Pineda. They even run buses for the huge market of Bona Vista.
I will be returning with my whole family. You couldn't have asked for more welcoming and friendly people.

"Great Holiday"

I've just returned from a holiday in the Sunclub Apartments and thought it was great. I'm 17 and this was my last family hoilday so I wasn't at all looking forward to it but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived.
There were no queues to check-in so we were able to go to our room and get settled quickly. The room was a very good size and the air conditioning was brilliant (both balcony doors must be closed however in order for it to work). We had a pool view which was lovely and even though the bar was just downstairs, noise was not an issue. The pool was lovely but I would say that the sun only comes to the pool and bathing side of the apartments at around midday but there is a rooftop bathing area on the fifth floor with sunbeds and two working showers.
Bar staff and restaurant staff were lovely. However, the entertainment was a lot to be desired. The hotel directly facing (Mediterranean Village) had excellent entertainment which you can use. There is a supermarket just outside the bar area with a cash machine which is very handy! There is also an excellent bus service right outside the hotel which takes you anywhere in Salou and the buses come every 15 minutes! Overall it was an excellent holiday with everything at hand! Definitely recommend it!

Well, first of all, the hotel was lovely and the apartments were stunning. They were spotless but before you go, I warn you there is a deposit for everything! We hired a buggy and kettle which was 100 euros as soon as we got there. We had to pay without any warning!
The staff were very good pleasant and friendly. I realise someone has commented about thin walls - yes, they are very thin and you can hear everything that goes on next door - that's true!
The entertainment wasn't all that good in the day. There wasn't much going on but the hotel opposite had a lot to offer by the sound of it! The pool was freezing! There were very few sunbeds too.
We went to Portaventura, It was fab and the aquatic park too. Good holiday but the Sunclub hotel was a bit of a let down.

This place was just awful. The walls were so thin and I was awake all night from the entertainment from the hotel opposite (H10 Mediterranean Village) although in fairness this finished at midnight, but the revellers continued shouting two or three hours after this. Then, when all that died down, the people next to us, above us, down the corridor, etc., could be heard as if they were in the same room. Even them moving their chair across the floor, sounded amplified in our bedroom.
The evening meals in the restaurant were awful (breakfast was ok though). The pool was freezing. If you do end up at the Sunclub, use the H10 Mediterranean Village opposite for your meals, entertainment and sunbathing etc.
The only nice thing I can say about the place was that the Geordie receptionist lady was really nice and helpful.

I went to the Sunclub hotel and it was nothing like I expected, It is really good. It's clean and the staff are really friendly. The entertainers Naomi and Jane are great. I came down every night and gave them a hug they are so nice and they come over to you and have a chat and they make up their own games some times and they are mint.
The hotel is really good. The cleaners are all Spanish and they always say 'Hola'. The Sunclub is just great.

"Worth The Money"
Travel date:
July 2007
Just back from staying at the Sunclub in Cap Salou. First of all, the apartments are very clean. Maid came every day to tidy and sheets changed twice in our two week stay. The pool was awesome and open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. every day. The sun rises over the back of the building so the pool can be cold in the morning but the kids loved it regardless. There are plenty of chairs and sunbeds for all although this didn't stop guests from laying towels down first thing in the morning but we never had a problem finding our own bed. And there is an adults' only sun terrace on the roof which is quiet if you're stuck!
The restauraunt was basic but the breakfasts were great and good value. Would recommend finding other places to eat as the menu is limited and you would get bored of the same things for two weeks.
The kids' entertainment was fantastic with kids' clubs six days a week for you to grab some peace and quiet while the reps look after your children. Signed in and out for added safety which meant a lot to me having one at five and one at nine. Evening entertainment was great too with free quizzes, children's entertainment with the reps, bingo and adult based entertainment until 12 a.m.(Naomi and Jayne were brilliant).
Location was perfect with a five minute walk to the beach and we even walked to Salou which, if you walk along the beach, only takes about 20 minutes. Salou is busy with loads of shops and bars.
Finally overall it was an excellent holiday and the kids made loads of friends and had a wonderful time. Could not fault the reps in any way, even when the clubs weren't on they would come and play with the kids in the pool. All round family holiday with something for everyone.

I went on holiday with my mum, dad, sisters and brother! I thought the Sunclub was the best holiday I have ever been on! It was so cool because all the staff spoke English! I loved the entertainment every night - it was so cool! Naomi and Charlie were really cool but there was bingo every day!
The balconies were kind of annoying, because there was a gap around the edge and my little sister kept dropping her bottles down!
I met some friends there so I played with them a lot! I got my hair braided all around - it was so curly when I took them out!

"Our Stay In Sunclub Aparthotel"

After having booked a week's holiday for myself, my son and my parents at the Sunclub Aparthotel in Cap Salou, I read the various reviews people had put on the internet and to be honest, I was a bit unsure of what to expect as although people had said the area of Cap Salou and Salou were both nice, I had read that the hotel food and staff were not all that and that the swimming pool was freezing, with no sun until late afternoon. I had read that most people had used the next door H10 Hotel called the Mediterranean v After having booked a weeks holiday for myself, my son and my parents at the Sunclub Aparthotel in Cap Salou, I read the various reviews people had put on the internet and to be honest, I was a bit unsure of what to expect as although people had said the area of Cap Salou and Salou were both nice, I had read that the hotel food and staff were not all that and that the swimming pool was freezing, with no sun until late afternoon. I had read that most people had used the nextdoor H10 Hotel called the Mediterranean Village.
I would point out now that I wished I had not been so worried about what to expect as I could not fault the hotel in any way. We had a clean, spacious apartment, although it would have been nice to have had an electrical kettle as the boil on the ring ones took forever. Everything was clean and regular maid service. The food in the hotel restaurant was superb. I would give the chef a ten out of ten and made a point of telling him so. It was a shame that the only veg was mushy peas and most things were served with chips but it was always presented well and tasted delicious at all times. Even better was the happy hour - two drinks for the price of one. The bar and restaurant staff spoke good English and were at all times friendly and helpful.
The local 'Plana' bus service was excellent as was the 'Noddy Train', as my son called it that took you all around the island. Brilliant bargain.
We went on the 'Plana' trip to Barcelona. The Nou Camp Stadium was superb, as was the museum and the football shop. This visit is a must if going to Barcelona. Just a shame you only got one and a half hours there. Most definitely not enough time. You then got taken to the city for shopping - not that interesting, I thought, for three hours.
The weather was ok but we had a lot of high winds, and the swimming pool was closed on a couple of occasions. The pool was freezing but very well kept and always clean.
We tried the Mediterranean Village Hotel. Most definitely would not go there for a meal again. OK to have as much as you want to eat but again, only spinach as a veg and the only meat was turkey, covered in oil. A very disappointing evening.
All in all a lovely holiday with no faults on the hotel. We had a few problems with people upstairs but this was something we could not complain about as some people think it is ok to move furniture around all night and let their children run in the corridors. We did, however, not let this spoil our holiday and would certainly go back to Cap Salou again. This little village is a lovely place to stay.

I had an amazing holiday here! The hotel is bright and cheerful. It's clean and spacious. My apartment had a beautiful view of the beach and the surrounding views, such as Salou and the mountains.
The entertainment was good and everyone was friendly and helpful.
There are local bars, restaurants, clubs and shops near by. Catching a bus is a great access for going to Salou, Cambrils, La Pineda, Tarragona or Barcelona. It runs regularly for day and night trips.
I would recommend this hotel and resort any day! Thanks for a great holiday.
