"Rubicon Goes All Inclusive."
Travel date:
June 2005
Having been to the Rubicon Palace, Playa Blanca twice before, two weeks in November 2001 and one week in September 2004, my husband and myself chose to go for one week in June 2005.
It, however, was now All Inclusive as well as half board, so we thought we would give it a try, this time AI.
Very pleasant staff and always helpful. Hotel as beautiful as ever, however a few things appeared to have slipped since going AI.
More mess lying around grounds due to people dumping carry out packages and glasses every where.
Appear to be a lot less staff around in restaurants and bars. Also less cleaners around.
Less choice in restaurant buffet than when it was solely half board.
There was 'Please, do not reserve sun loungers' signs on the loungers themselves and around the pool, even in the lifts but the Spanish guests were there grabbing their loungers before 8 am.
Our room was once missed off the rota, even though the maid was next door and saw us go into our room. However, that was put right when I called reception at six pm and some clean towels were sent up.
In our opinion the hotel is worse for being AI and was of a much better standard as a half board hotel. We only noticed the difference because we had been twice before, maybe others wouldn't notice the decline, but it is now time for us personally to move on, especially if the hotel is pushing AI.
AI sounds a wonderful thing, free drinks/food all day etc, but unfortunately standards have definitely slipped for us at the H10 Rubicon Palace, which is a shame as we have always loved it in the past.
