The only thing to put you off this hotel is the swimming pool area - it is not equipped enough for the size of the hotel. If you miss breakfast and are up later then 9.00 a.m., then this area is packed and no sunbeds are left. We spent everyday down at the beach, which is great as this hotel is a very short walk away.
The best thing about the Ambassador Playa hotel is the location to the night life. The cabaret clubs are more or less on your door step and the night clubs are just a few minutes walk away.

"Food Not Nice"
Travel date:
May 2008
No tables set when we went at seven at night. Staff very unpleasant. When I went for curry and rice the lady was serving it but ran out of rice. She did not replace it. No one came to ask if we wanted a drink with our meal.
Last time I stopped at the Castila and I wish I had gone back there. The food was excellent there. In the Ambassador Playa it tasted so bland. I went in twice and was disgusted at the way it was presented. It tasted like it was presented. On the way to the dining room the smell was terrible. My daughter could not eat in it. We had to eat out all the holiday. When you pay all that money you should be looked after. I certainly won't go back there again.
The reception staff was a little bit more pleasant. The maids and bar staff where the best out of them all.

"Ambassador Playa Hotel = Best In Benidorm"
Travel date:
May 2008
First of all, I would like to say that Benidorm is fantastic if you want to be part of the night-life.
About the hotel: Firstly I strongly recommend the Ambassador Playa Hotel. It had two pools, one with a shelter to stop rain hitting swimmers and a deep circular pool for adults. There are two kiddy pools to save the bother of keeping blowing up arm bands up and inflatable rings.
The staff are consistently helpful with making you feel at home and making sure the service is up to your standards. It is a family hotel and holds plenty of rooms. Every single hotel room is cleaned daily whether you are in or out. The cleaners are helpful and are not the type to take any of your stuff while they are cleaning.
Food is excellent. A cavery is put on for breakfast, dinner, and supper with different food every time. Fruit and veg are available all the time to eat, however the restaurant is only open at a certain time, so if you want the opportunity to try out the amazing food, the best time is whenever you are advised by hotel staff. There are two bars not including the out door beach house that is near the pools. It sells coffee, tea, alcohol, ice creams, hot and cold food and more.
There are two buildings because so many people visit the hotel each year. It holds a variety of entertainment during the day and night. In the day, the activity manager, Tony J Hay, organises different kinds of games and activities around the hotel for kids and adults. They take part in dart tournaments to all sorts of things. Outings are also organised such as a tour to the bays of the sea around Benidorm and exploring famous monuments.
Bars are open all day and in between the two bars there is a cute little patio area looking down on the pool with around ten arcade games including toy machines and a snooker table.
At night there is a range of entertainment such as magic shows, singers, musicians, line dancing plus bingo which is also arranged by Tony J Hay. In the bar the friendly waiters are always there to clean up your tables and cater for you with care. They are quick to deliver your drinks to your table and accommodate you with any of your wants or needs. The hotel is also attached to a western saloon which the hotel also owns and is very popular. You will find the entrance next door to the hotel or in the Ambassador Playa II reception.
In the reception, it has a clean posh marble floor with 'phone box for home calls. It is the cheapest 'phone box around and are easy to use by pressing 0044 and the number for home calls. There are six lifts between the two hotels taking you to any floor you request in a matter of seconds including the two disabled lifts which are most helpful.
Most of the time when you arrive there is a tour organised. I would advise you to go on the trip seeing as it is very helpful. Not only is the hotel excellent but the location is also very nicely put. It faces the 'Morgan Tavern' which is the club shaped as a boat. It is also a very popular place. It holds entertainment every hour, mostly tribute acts such as 'Westlife', plus there is the soul family, 'Soul Brothers' who act as the 'T-Birds' out of the hit movie 'Grease'. Next to the 'Morgon Tavern' is another bar which claims to hold the best kareoke in Benidorm. I didn't visit the kareoke bar to make a comment on it but I have passed it many times and it seems like a popular family bar with a decent kareoke which seems to always be full with people. Next to that there is a row of useful shops and resturants which contain things like food to clothes, wigs and toys. Benidorm's number one hotel definately has to be the Ambassador Playa!

Been to the Ambassador Playa hotel twice now. Enjoyed first time better than second. Head waiter was very pleasant but some waiters get over friendly when passing by. Made kids feel uncomfortable.
The pool was small and I found that a lot of the rules were broken, for example, sunbeds being reserved. Food wasn't that good so ate out a lot. Would recommend 'La Bahia' on the front. I think next time will try the 'Los Dalmatus'.

The Ambassador Playa hotel was clean and well maintained. The maids were first class and the staff very friendly.
The food was terrible, warm and not much choice so if you are a fussy eater, eat out.
The night was excellent. Go to 'Black Chicken' and 'Stardust' pub, as cabaret very good.
Beaches very clean. I took my son to Benidorm for the first time and he enjoyed it. Weather hot - in the 70s. I will be going back to Benidorm but with my wife.

I have stayed at the Ambassador Playa hotel more times than I can remember. I have always had a wonderful time here and the staff always made me feel I was important.
The food could be improved but there is plenty of it. Need to work on keeping families happy. Not much for children and could do with children's host.

My stay at the Ambassador Playa cost a fortune. We were forced to eat out at all times - the food I throw out at home looks more appetising! So it was shell out or starve!
Rooms clean and comfortable. This was our second time and there won't be a third!

Went to the Ambassador Playa with wife and in laws for last two years. Father in law disabled and in wheelchair. Hotel rep wouldn't get him taxi on way home as he was unable to walk. Food was lousy. Ate out every day.
Rooms and pool nice. Only helpful person was security guard.

Went to Ambassador Playa for two weeks. It was great, only downfall was no fridge in room but could buy one from reception. Never knew that until last few days.
Food was good, always something for everyone. Only thing could be bit more choice - every night seemed to be same. Would use this hotel again as centre of everything and close to beach. Great hotel!

Excellent hotel, clean and tidy. Central to all shops and bars, food is very good. The pools are clean, get down there early if you want a sun lounger as every time we went down they all had towels on even though it states you can't do this. We would definitely use this hotel again - highly recommended.

We have stayed in the Ambassador now three times and going again in November 2007. The staff are great and plenty to do. My aunty and uncle have been going there for the last 25 years. Sadly my uncle passed away last week. We are going back beginning of next year to lay his ashes.
Anyway, the hotel is brilliant, can't do enough for you and the food, well, there,s plenty to choose from.

My wife and I had stayed in this hotel for four weeks in February 2005 and found it very good value so decided to book for four weeks again this year but wish we had not.
On arrival, when I asked if this was a pool view we had been allocated they said no, that there were none but under a little pressure said we could have one for two euros each per night, then gave us the option of any floor so we paid as it can be very cold if your room is on the other side.
The holiday was good with plenty of entertainment in the bars and clubs nearby but the food in the hotel was not up to the same standard as on the last visit. In fact, I got food poisoning which, of course, ruined the last four days of my holiday when I was confined to the toilet day and night and none of the staff wanted to know although there were another four people on our floor affected Goodness knows how many in the whole hotel. Each of us had eaten the lamb at lunchtime. Needless to say we will not be going back.

Great time in the hotel. I stayed for one week with my two children ages six and 15. They both enjoyed the food and entertainment in the hotel. The staff was great, very nice but the rooms could have been cleaner and the pool was not the best but they were good. I would go back again and I think it's a great hotel to stay in.

A group of eight of us stayed at this hotel in July. Couldn't fault it, Food was great and catered for all. Location was brill - in the middle of everything - night life until all hours of the morning for all ages. Walk the beach within two minutes (if that!).
Clean place to stay. Friendly staff - always willing to help. Plenty to do – kids' discos, games room, bingo, line dancing. Pool was clean. Nice atmosphere to be in. Recommend it to anyone. Booked to go back there next June!

Just returned from two weeks at the Ambassaador Playa. Will not return. Food terrible so ate out a lot. Dining room unpleasant, not clean crockery and plates not washed properly.
Rude reception staff. Very smoky in public rooms. No atmosphere. Dance rooms full of non residents when line dancing and sequence dancing taking place. The only redeeming feature was the covered pool but this was cool and smelt of chlorine.
