"Never Again!"

Have stayed in apartment 605 for two weeks in October 2008. It was shabby. Bathroom tiles were dirty and the shower hose would fall off the bar every ten seconds so you should hold it by hand while taking a shower. Cold water in the morning because they use only solar panels on the roof, so imagine if it's cloudy one day.
The cleaning staff is nice, but the cleaning itself is not good. The floor - had to wipe dust off our feet before putting on socks. The bathroom mirror hasn't been wiped during the two weeks of our stay. Both times the toilet paper roll finished and we had to go down and ask for more ourselves. Beds really hard (but maybe it's a plus for someone). Towels were not fresh. The sofa cushions were dirty as well.
The pool area was nice and the terrace view is pleasing. But this was not enough to beat all the minuses. Didn't expect the Miriam to be a luxurious hotel of course, but something simple and at least clean. Big disappointment for those who expect a pleasant and neat place to stay.

The apartments were not at all pleasing! On arrival (4 a.m.) we found nobody at reception or 24 hour service, just our name written on a piece of paper stuck to the window with our room number, which we had no idea how to get to dragging our suitcases up flights of stairs as the lift only takes you so far!
In the rooms there are no double beds, only two singles which we had to put together. The bathroom wasn't up to standard, the shower head kept falling off and the water was pretty cold. The cleaner everyday was fine, however all she did was tidy rather than clean! Toilet roll paper - you must ask for this yourself. It does not get provided and you need to pay for a kettle!
Moving on to the worst part! The Miriam apartments are a family orientated apartment with plenty of kids staying, so whilst we were at the pool area, there were a couple of females who sunbathed topless! No complaints if it was at the beach but it was in full view of the families staying at the hotel with kids in the pool. The staff did nothing about it.
Not a classy place and next time we will be going somewhere more dignified and hygienic.

"Miriam Apartments"

Me, my wife and six year old son have just spent two weeks at the Miriam apartments and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ayt first, it is a bit daunting as you are at the top of the mountain but once you know where the steps are, it is three easy flights down and you're almost at the beach or a leisurely walk down the road and you're in the town centre. To get back, if you're not into walking, it is very cheap and easy to get a cab - three euros.
The apartments are basic but you get what you pay for. Saying that, everything is there that you need. The rooms were cleaned regularly with new towels provided and the staff were very helpful indeed and made you very welcome. The pool is small but is great as long as your kids are alright swimming as it goes from two feet to about five feet deep. The pool bar is good but could have stayed open longer (it closed at 6 p.m.). The location means the sun is on the pool until well after 8 p.m., which is good and the views are spectacular from the sun terrace.
Puerto Rico is not geared up for kids like Majorca is but if the kids like the pool, arcades, the beach and swimming, I would definitely recommend the Miriam. We will definitely be going back.

Very basic apartments which could be so much better if they had better management and maybe someone who cared a little about the place. It has all the potential but no stock in the shop, no cues for the pool table and very limited opening times on reception (receptionists speak very little English).
It was basic but kept clean and and the woman that works in the little bar is really nice.
The positives are that the views from these apartments are awesome, the wind at that height keeps you fairly cool and the taxis are really cheap to get back up the hill.
I wouldn't personally go back to Puerto Rico but if anyone had booked the Miriam apartments, I would advise they are basic but perfect if, like us, you didn't spend much time in your apartment.

Don't think the Miriam apartments are as good as they make out in the book. No shops and no English TV. Don't recomend this to families at all. Was clean, give them that. There was no entertainent like it said there was.
We have been to Puerto Rico three times this was the first time we were disappointed with the hotel but we still had a great time. There was no reception at night time and there was no welcome meeting from any reps to tell you how to go on any tours.

Yes, no television, no telephone, cheap and basic. Good views and pool, no bar or shop open and you need a taxi back as steep hill but enjoyed Puerto Rico.

This apartment is the very description of basic. You don't get a TV as it says, you don't get a phone and your apartment is not cleaned five times a week as it says. In fact, it was dirty so I mopped the floor myself. The fridge was turned off and it took them two days to turn it on, even after informing them the hour we arrived.
If you want somewhere to lay your head and it is cheap, then these are for you. Close to the centre and in walking distance, but recommend a taxi back because its quite a trek at night after a few vinos.
But if, like me, you booked at the Nido del Aqulia first, then were given these instead because they had over booked (which I have been told the Nido do this a lot, be warned), you will be very disappointed as my boyfriend and I were.
Puerto Rico was a nice place but I would book another accommodation. This place was far too basic for the price we paid. Very disappointed and would not go again to these apartments. They are more like a hostel with a pool.

Nice complex. Not far from everything. Nice pool area. I would book again! It is not on a really steep hill, I found it OK. Nice holiday.

My friend and I stayed at the Miriam and it was perfect for what we needed. The rooms were cleaned every day and the staff were brilliant. The only bad thing was we had to walk down to the centre every day as there was no shop or bar there, but overall it was great, so great we are going back this year again,
