The three star Rio Sol Aparthotel is on the hilltop, overlooking the harbour in Puerto Rico, some 1,500 metres from the beach and town centre, on the south western coast of Gran Canaria, about 50 kilometres from the airport.
The accommodation at the four storey Rio Sol comprises 235 apartments, each having a private bathroom and shower, one or two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a lounge and a furnished balcony or terrace with sea views. They are equipped with pay to view satellite television and a rental safety deposit box.
The facilities at the aparthotel include two restaurants, a pool bar, a lounge bar, two swimming pools (one heated in winter) surrounded by loungers and parasols, two squash courts, tennis court, a panoramic lift, a library, a self service laundry, a conference room, television and video room and a supermarket. A programme of entertainment is provided, including a mini club for the younger children. Guests can play squash and tennis, table tennis, darts, volleyball, mini golf and partake in rifle shooting. There are many shops, bars and restaurants nearby and a regular bus service to the beach.
Board basis available at this aparthotel is self catering, bed and breakfast or half board.

First time I have ever been to this hotel and wouldn't go back again. The place was boring, the accommodation was full of ants and cockroaches and the place stunk because the sewage.
Every time you went out for something to eat you were constantly hassled by touters to the point you didn't want to go out.
Couldn't get a sun bed, entertainment was rubbish - same thing all the time. Some one was mugged while walking down to the beach. Take my advice, don't stay at Rio Sol.

Every time you went out for something to eat you were constantly hassled by touters to the point you didn't want to go out.
Couldn't get a sun bed, entertainment was rubbish - same thing all the time. Some one was mugged while walking down to the beach. Take my advice, don't stay at Rio Sol.

We wanted to book for next year but it's shut for refurbishment. We will definitely be booking a holiday there when it re-opens.

One of the cleanest places I've stayed at. The Rio Sol apartments and bar and pool area were cleaned regularly. Had a few meals in restaurant which were good value for money. There was quite a good range for different tastes even for our fussy children. All the staff were very friendly but not too friendly, they didn't make you get up from your sun bed to play games if you didn't want to.
The only downside would be the lift kept breaking down and it's a long way to walk up to the top, but if you really wanted to, reception would have sent a man in a van for you. Lilos and balls weren't allowed in the pool either.
