I stayed at this hotel in a private apartment so can't really comment on the apartment itself as a lot of rooms are privately owned.

The hotel itself is lovely. I have read in previous reviews that the hotel is dated but I felt this wasn't true. The hotel doesn't really have an on site shop but there are shops opposite the main entrance where you get what you need. There is also a Lidl store - when you come out of the main entrance by the fountain, go straight up the hill and when you come to the top turn right and you'll see it on the opposite side. This is much cheaper.

The grounds itself in the hotel are nice, although a lot of space is wasted at the front with a noisy fountain. If you were unlucky like us to have a room above the fountain, its quite noisy and goes on until late. There isn't much room by the pool if you aren't lucky enough to get bed, which you will need to put on towel on the bed by 7.30 - 8.00 a,m, like the rest of the people. We went to the beach everyday which is lovely and only a short distance.

There are loads of restaurants along the street that you come out by the fountain. The 'Ivy' is lovely and if you're lucky to get a chair at 'Tom's Tavern', then they're lovely and the drink is cheap. 'Brogan's', which is opposite the hotel, sells a pint for one euro and the food is lovely.

Overall the Sol Aloha Puerto Hotel is lovely and it is just the swimming pool area that lets it down. We did use the swimming pool area at the Sol Timor, and just lay on our towels. Nobody knew we weren't staying at the hotel and the pool is much nicer and they've got a great store on site!
