The four star Hotel Spa Playacálida is situated 100 metres from the beach, in Almuñecar on the Costa Tropical, about 80 kilometres south of Granada Airport.

The accommodation, at the Spa Playacálida comprises 325 double rooms, a number of family suites and a presidential suite, each having a bathroom and a balcony or terrace, and being equipped with air conditioning and heating, a ceiling fan, satellite television, a direct dial telephone, a mini bar and a rental safety deposit box. The family suites also have a living area with a sofa bed, a kitchenette, and a round bath in the bathroom. The presidential suite is as the family suite but also has a private pool.

The facilities, at the hotel, include two buffet restaurants, with show cooking, a drinks bar in the reception area, a theatre bar, a mezzanine bar, a pub, a beach pool bar (open in high season), 24 hour reception, a swimming pool in the design of a river with water slides and whirlpool, a panoramic pool with whirlpool and sunbathing area, an indoor pool (closed 01/06 to 15/09), a shop, a reading room, a hairdresser and a games area. Use of the 'Acquaplaya' health and beauty centre is available at an extra charge. A programme of entertainment is provided, including a mini club for the younger children which is open from 01/06 until 30/09.
