Comissioned by Alfonso XIII in 1912, the five star Westin Palace Hotel is located in the heart of Madrid and close to the museums of El Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.

Facilities at the hotel include the 'El Bar del Palace', decorated in English classical style, serves cocktail, coffee and aperitifs and offers live music. The 'La Rotonda' restaurant is located under the hotel's glass dome and offers both 'a la carte' and a buffet with a variety of cold and warm dishes accompanied by live music. The hotel has 417 guest rooms, 47 guest suites and one royal suite with jacuzzi, sauna, pop up television, Bang & Olufsen sound system and butler service. Standard room amenities available in all rooms include pay-per-view movies, the 'Westin Heavenly Bed' (made up of a custom designed pillow-top mattress set, a down blanket, three sheets ranging in thread count from 180 to 250, a comforter, duvet and five plush pillows), bathroom with bathrobes and bath amenities, telephone, high speed internet access (at an extra charge), voice mail, 24 hour room service, individual climate control and electronic safety deposit box. Deluxe rooms have marble floors, a desk, cocktail table, arm chair and reading lamp. They have a queen or two twin beds. Premium deluxe rooms have silver fabric wall coverings, double glazed windows and insulated doors and curtains. Many of the 30 junior suites feature a marble entry hall and are equipped with a king, queen, or two-twin beds. The suites offer separate lounges and bedrooms. Sliding doors allow guests to keep the living area private from the bedroom. They feature a sofa and armchair with a reading lamp, upgraded bathroom with marble floor, separate shower (in select suites) and an additional television in the living area (in select suites). Executive suites have original mahogany doors, a lounge furnished with a sofa, armchair and reading light, desk has a fax machine/copier/printer, bedroom with a king, queen or two twin beds, and another desk, second television, table, armchair and reading lamp. Some rooms also have a dining area with seating for six. The royal suite is richly appointed with carved wood furniture, bronze lamps and library shelves stacked with gilt-edged, leather-bound volumes. Mahogany pocket doors separate the living, dining and sleeping areas while original oil paintings grace the walls. A marble fireplace in the library is crowned with an antique gilded mantel clock and luxurious rugs adorn the marble floors. The suite includes two bedrooms with individual dressing rooms and bathrooms. The master bath boasts a sauna and jacuzzi, and there is a powder room for guests as well. The lounge features a conversation grouping with sofa, table and chairs. A separate dining room seats eight and the library is equipped with a fax machine/photocopier/printer and television.
