We arrived at the apartments on the 8th November. When we got there, the room was clean and tidy but the food was not very nice if you are all inclusive. All we ate was the chips. I wouldn't go back to the apartments again.

"Forget All The Bad Reports. Very Good Value."

One week all inclusive. This place is in the middle of an up and coming area. There is very little around, but there are a couple of supermarkets, bars and places to eat. It takes between 20-30 minutes to walk to Caleta, a nice walk down a new footpath. There are seats to rest on the way if needed. If you take a taxi, made sure they go the coast road and will be only four or five minutes.
All the food I had in the hotel was nice, all cooked well, always salad and fruit. Yes, as others have said, they do like you to clear your own tables, but the place is run well with very few staff. Just remember what you paid - you do get your money's worth! You do have to make your toast with a normal kitchen toaster and the coffee machine sometimes works, so there is a kettle to use. The food was similar to that you get in every two or three star hotel in Spain. For me it was good but there is a MacDonald's seven minutes away by car. Amongst other things there were for every breakfast, beans, boiled and fried egg, tomatoes, bacon and sausage. Food at lunch time is only on for an hour, 2-3 p.m. but was good and similar to the later meal at 6.30-8.30 p.m., including, most days, rice/pasta, potatoes/chips and one or two meats and fish on a couple of days.
All the staff were good and helpful, but you will only be able to get one drink per person at the bar and return your glass to get it refilled. You'll get used to it! All inclusive ends at 10 p.m. and after that you can buy drinks until the bar shuts.
I would return to La Pirimiade, Very good value but maybe not for the kids!

"One Week Was More Than Enough"
Travel date:

Just spent a week here and that was certainly more than enough. Food was terrible - the 'restaurant' was more like a transport cafe with plastic table cloths and clear your own tables.
The coffee machine didn't work nor did the toaster. The rooms were reasonably clean but the bathroom stank of drains and damp.
There was nothing to do here but the walk into Caleta de Fuste was pleasant and they did run a free bus daily but we never used it. Luckily we had good weather but I certainly would not recommend La Piramide to anyone.

We stayed at La Piramide for a week and had a fantastic time. The weather was great and the staff couldn't do enough for you. We met some great people there who all thought the same as us that it was a nice place with nice staff.
The apartments were clean and tidy and we had a laugh every night with the cheeky monkey behind the bar (you know who you are!) The food wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad either.
I advise anybody who wants a nice relaxing holiday go to La Piramide. I'm booking again for this summer.

Don't put yourself in danger honestly. The La Piramide Apartments were horrible – ants in the fridge, it's noisier then a disco, the food was rubbish, (I mean, who has chicken nuggets in the morning?), no kids' menus, everything around you was building but luckily I rented a car because we didn't have enough money to keep getting in taxis going to different places. So if I had never rented a car then honestly, have to say I would have booked the next flight home! Its put me off abraod - never going again!

"Fantastic For Three Star"

I stayed here with my husband, three of my children and my son's children and its one of the nicest place we have stayed considering its only a three star and my family loved it. I rented a car and it was so quick to get places!
Although the La Piramide wasn't the best, we still had a great time, we met people and the staff was friendly and the weather was great, sitting by the pool having a drink, just having a laugh.
The building sites around us weren't that noisy Thankfully but we were in the middle of no where! It was good that we had a car hire because it made it so easy to get places.
I think its personally nice and I'm going there again next summer!

"A Place On The UP!"

When I saw all the bad reviews that people had put on here I was shocked! Because it sounds nothing like the place me and my girlfriend just returned from, but apparently it is! I know everyone has a different view of wherever they stay but I think I owe it to La Piramide to share mine with everyone.
When we arrived we did worry because there is a lot of building going on around the hotel, but once you're inside, you would never know! We met Bill (new manager of two weeks) who made us feel very welcome and continued that until the day we left. Any problems and you knew he'd sort it.
The apartments are what you expect to get. It's not the Ritz but you have everything you need and anything you do need is less than a 4.50 euro taxi away!
We were all inclusive and did enjoy the times we eat there, but we did also spend many nights in Caleta because at night in the hotel is only a bar and not much happening, but it makes it easier to meet the other people staying there and we made some wonderful new friends, which is what you want from a quiet little place like that.
The walk to Caleta is beautiful! It is about 30-40 minutes but we usually took longer to enjoy it! After you get past the few building sites, it's all along the rocky sea front and you get chipmunks around the rocky areas and you can feed them nuts, its amazing! They actually take the nuts out of your hand and you get great photos!
I'd definitely recommend this place. Bill and his team do all they can to make it a brilliant time for you, and they do it fantastically. The bar-men Mark and Martin are wonderful people and they also help you however they can and I truly believe that as soon as Bill gets his teeth into his new role things will only get better!!
Thanks to everyone at La Piramide for making our holiday one to remember! And we will be back!

"Do Not Book These Apartments"
Travel date:
October 2006
We arrived for our 11 day, self catering holiday, at around midday on Saturday 6th October 2006. Having read on another site that there was a building site opposite the apartments, I was not too concerned when we arrived. However, I had not been expecting there to be building sites on three out of four sides and on many surrounding roads.
On entering La Piramide, the reception/bar area seemed quite nice and the receptionist was very friendly. As we entered the pool area, I was surprised that it seemed much smaller than it appeared in the pictures I had seen. On entering the apartment, through filthy French windows, I was shocked at how shabby and tatty the apartment was. The curtain rail over the main door was hanging off the wall, the curtain was torn and the bed/settee was sagging and broken underneath. The bedroom and bathroom were adequate.
After unpacking we went to the pool bar where the music was blaring so loud we had to shout our order at the barman. Our large beers were served in paper Coca Cola cups and tasted awful. It was the first and last drink we had there.
We decided to wander into Calete de Fuste and were told by the receptionist it was about a ten minute walk. We arrived, after a brisk walk, 40 minutes later! However, the return journey by taxi took about seven minutes and cost 3.5 euros.
The next day we spoke to our ‘next door neighbours' who told us that they had arrived the previous Wednesday and had been in a ground floor apartment, but had been burgled during the early hours of Friday morning and had been moved upstairs the next day. From then on we locked everything of value in the safe each night.
On the Wednesday there were many new arrivals. On Thursday morning when we awoke, we were greeted around the pool by raised voices and a virtual guest revolt! The people on all inclusive basis were going ballistic about the disgusting food, the service, the attitude of the staff - including the manager. By midday on Thursday, seven of the new arrivals had been moved to other apartments - at a cost of 120 euros per person. The remaining 12 only stayed because they could not afford this!
On our penultimate night, it was very hot and we decided to leave our balcony door open slightly, but took the precaution of putting the armchair in front of the door. We woke next morning to find that we had been burgled. My mobile phone (which I had been using as a clock) had been taken from the bedside table, along with my make up bag, and various articles of my husband's clothes had gone - including a pair of his boxer shorts.
We realise we had been stupid, in light of what we had been told, but you really don't think things like that happen to you.
We reported the theft to the manageress (who we had previously nicknamed the camp commandant) and bearing in mind that this was the second incident of the kind in less that two weeks, she showed no real interest at all.
Although we had a relatively relaxing holiday, apart from the 40 minute a day walk and the blaring music from the bar, I would NEVER go back there again. It was one of our worst holidays in about 15 years.
I know that they state that Nuevo Horizonte is in a new, up and coming resort, but there is literally nothing apart from two bars (one English, one Irish) a basic Spanish restaurant, a supermarket and two mini markets within a 15 minute walking radius.

"Avoid At All Costs"
Travel date:
September 2006
We arrived at the hotel on our honeymoon, being our first time abroad, not really knowing what to expect. The hotel looked like something in the middle of Beirut with just waste ground and building sites around us.
The apartment was quite clean, but had no air con, phone or kettle. TV didn't work, safe didn't work, but we did have two single beds for our honeymoon.
The night life was non existent. Nothing nearby what so ever. There was only a dart board, pool table with half the balls missing or the TV which only got the Spanish news. As we went all inclusive we thought we would try the restaurant which was closed at 8.30 p.m. We did however get some cold leftovers which tasted and smelt disgusting, so we tried the bar, which was OK apart from the service was slow. We then met two girls from Cleethorpes who had just arrived and their thoughts on the hotel were the same as ours, so after a few drinks, we went to another hotel to try their mini shop as ours was shut.
The next morning, we tried the restaurant for breakfast. What a mistake - the food was uncooked, cold, stale rolls and not looking too good. At this point, we left to go to the pool and discussed our thoughts with other British holiday makers. They were all disgusted as well. 13 of them got transfers to other hotels (at their own expense). We couldn't get a transfer until the next day but couldn't wait to leave. The receptionist was good to let us use the telephone most of the day to get a transfer, but was not at all bothered by anybody leaving. We left with another ten people, all transferring.
I would never go back there for anything. The only decent food we had there was an omelette the two girls from Cleethorpes made (they were great). This hotel is definitely not a three star hotel; it's more like a one star. Do not be fooled by the description. It is a ten minute cab journey to the beach at Caleta de Fuste. Be careful when booking.

"La Piramide - Grand Two Weeks"
Travel date:
August 2006
La Piramide Apartments is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday, set 30 minutes walk away from Caleta de Fuste and only ten minutes by taxi from the airport. An ideal location to take it easy and unwind by the amazing pool.
We went all inclusive for two weeks. The food and the service was fantastic. I would really recommend it to anybody. If you go, I i recommend that you hire a car because there isn't anything really to do in the immediate area but with a car you can get out and see the island because there are a lot of interesting places worth seeing.
There is only one problem that we had and that was the fact that two weeks went so quickly and we had to come home but we will be there again next year, if not earlier for a winter break later in 2006.

I didn't want to go on holiday this year because better things were going on at home, but I'm so glad I did! Fair enough this place is not five star but it is a genuine, friendly and helpful environment and the staff are all lovely. On behalf of my party I would like to say a big thank you and well done to Daniella and Sebastian whose efforts and energy were continuous throughout our stay, (we don't think Sebastian ever sleeps!) As were that of the rest of the staff but theirs are the only names we know.
The resort itself is beautiful and although not particularly busy, the town of Caleta de Fuste is about a ten minute walk along the stunning seafront where the friendly and tame chipmunks come to greet you. I got home today and am eagerly trying to book this hotel for next year, fingers crossed!

"Interesting"

We have just come back from one week all inclusive at La Piramide in Fuerteventura. My husband and I and our two eighteen year old daughters along with their boyfriends. When we arrived at the hotel by taxi, we wondered where on earth we had come to! It was in the middle of a building site with no sign of life other than another hotel nearby. Anyway when we walked into the entrance of the hotel we felt a little better, it was quite nice. The apartments surround a large swimming pool and the pool area and terraces looked good and well kept. It seemed very quiet as the pool area was empty, bearing in mind we arrived at midday! However, we were pointed in the directions of our rooms and these proved to be adequate, not smart but clean and tidy. We asked what time lunch was served and they told us ?Two o'clock today because we didn't know what time you were arriving!' Seemed odd that lunch was organised around us! Lunch was okay - not fab but okay!
It soon became apparent that there were very few guests in the hotel. After first impressions this was our conclusion by the end of the week. Plus points - pool to ourselves, dining room to ourselves! No queues for anything, choice of rooms near to the pool and on lower level. Minus points - no entertainment and had to find someone to serve us drinks as not enough people to warrant a barman! Poor choice of food - leftovers rehashed for next meal i.e. bacon and sausage for breakfast, then pasta with bacon and sausage chopped into it etc. Bins not emptied by pool all week (although we were only ones using them).
There were a few Spanish people there but they were not all inclusive and tended not come sit by the pool until late afternoon - when we were going in! The resort itself is a dump - and Caleta is okay but not much to occupy you for long! The few staff in the hotel seemed to work really hard and Sebastian was so helpful and obliging! Conclusion - attractive hotel, completely dead, good pool, below average food, dreadful resort! Would not recommend it although we made the most of it - weather was glorious and it was peaceful!
