Yes, the golf course is in need off upgrading but overall the whole hotel site was very clean. We spent many happy hours playing in the pool and cannot fault it. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Overall the Xaloc Playa is the hotel to chose if you need to chill and recharge your batteries.

One moan is the entertainment. It was very poor. We were there two weeks and saw four dance groups, one band and a man playing a organ.

Review title: "Poorly Rubbish"
Travel date: July 2007
The Xaloc Playa was horrible! I really didn't like it! Especially the guy at the desk who was extremely unfriendly and gave me my first opinions of the resort.

During my stay, I found that the pool was disgusting and I arrived home with a terrible ear infection.

The layout of the golf course was also very frustrating and this meant that it was difficult to achieve a hole in one!

Review title: "Not Our Best Holiday"
Travel date: July 2007
First impressions were quite good. Our room was spacious and spotless. However, our balcony was one of only four in the hotel that overlooked a public car park. A bit disappointing.

The biggest curse was the refuse collections - at 2 a.m. every single morning right outside our balcony! Add to this the local kids revving their motor scooters till 3 a.m. and you have the room from hell. The management admitted they were not good rooms but it took three days of nagging to get a room change. The new room was perfect. The First Choice reps were as good as nothing when we complained about the room.

Food was plentiful but of a pretty low standard. The pool and outside gardens were very nice but sun lovers should be aware that there are only about 65 sunbeds between approximately 200 guests. You have to be up early if you want to beat the sun bed 'reservers'.

Staff were mostly friendly and helpful and it would have been a pretty good week if it were not for our room problems. Lack of air conditioning is a big minus.

Review title: "Xaloc Playa - Fantastic Staff In A Clean, Small, Friendly Hotel"
Travel date: July 2006
Our second consecutive year in this great place. We find the staff so friendly in this small, clean, well looked after hotel where the food is varied and great. We want to return for our third visit next year.

I would have given ten out of ten if there was air conditioning in the bedrooms, although there are fans available to hire which help. The hotel and resort are quiet, an ideal place to unwind, chill and recharge the batteries.

Review title: "Superb!"
Travel date: May 2006
This was my first holiday in six years and I had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and most of them speak very good English. The hotel is kept in an extremely good and very clean condition. The food was not at all bad for a three star hotel, plentiful and various and of a buffet style.

The hotel is situated right opposite the beach which is stunning with some good walks around the coastline. The hotel is ideal for the elderly, especially if they are able to gain a room on the ground floor because there are very few steps to cope with within the hotel.

I could not fault the hotel itself, although travelling around the island can be somewhat of a journey. There is a bus stop behind the hotel but to get anywhere you have to get a bus into the capital, Mahon and travel to another destination from there, then back to Mahon and another bus back to Punta Prima. This would be very tiresome for the elderly or people with young children. Taxis would be an alternative but could be quite pricy after a while.

For those smokers amongst you it is worth taking note of the new Spanish laws. Only one place in Menorca sells cigarettes and that's Sant Luiis, which was a taxi/bus ride away. There was a cigarette machine in one of the local cafes however. All in all, if you want a nice relaxing holiday without the rowdy nightclubs and nightlife, I would highly recommend this island and this hotel in particular.

Review title: "Xaloc Playa Is Fantastic"
Travel date: August 2005
This year (2006) will be our fourth visit to this great little hotel. It's clean, airy, laid back and the staff are wonderful. It's not one of those massive places where you feel that you have to battle daily for a table or lounger by the pool.

The resort of Punta Prima is small and quiet but the sea and beach are fantastic. The only thing the hotel needs is air conditioning in the bedrooms.

These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
