First I would like to warn anybody who is wanting to go on holiday to enjoy parties, clubbing and night life not to go to the Malibu Park. Why not, I hear you ask?
When I first arrived back here again this year I noticed a lot of the apartments were bought privately and I should have known then and there what was to come. We came to Playa de Las Americas because it was well known to be the party area in Tenerife. Most nights we would go out around 10 and go to places like 'Veronica's Strip' etc. to the clubs and bars - that was all good and fine. What wasn't fine was that say, for example, you were out clubbing or whatever and bumped into friends or new friends and wanted to go back to your apartment afterwards for some chat, music and partying - this was a complete no go. We found that every time we went out and returned back to the Malibu Park security was either pointing at us, speaking at us in Spanish or following us around or to our apartment like we had commited some sort of crime or something and we found it absolutely annoying, off putting and disgusting. I mean, so much for you being on holiday and wanting to enjoy yourselves. To us it felt more like a prison camp than a holiday apartment and be very aware that after 12 o'clock every night, the place is dead and I mean dead. We couldn't believe it the first time and thought maybe everyone had got swine flu or something and had to go into isolation or go home. No joke, it was that bad, but as the days and nights went on we found out that you dare not make any noise at all after 12 or the security moves in on you. Personally I think something big or bad has happened here and they have made up new and very strict rules to avoid it happening again, because, like I said, this is my second time here and last year was far far better and friendly and laid back and holiday like than this year, that's for sure.
In closing, I would say if you want a quiet, sitting in or sleeping in your apartment every night after 12 o'clock with no fun, noise, chat or parties, then the Malibu Park is definitely for you with its dead atmosphere and annoying security and rules. On the other hand, if you have worked hard all year back home and want to let your hair down and go on holiday and party, club, drink, chat and try to have an enjoyable holiday in a place where it is meant to be the party heaven, then I warn you all now to stay as far away as possible from the Malibu Park because you will be left deeply disappointed like we were. We totally love Tenerife 100% but we also totally hate Malibu Park 100% and will never be coming back here again that's for sure. Overall very bad experience of Malibu Park.

Well, we got in the hotel on the 25th January - room 2018. There were ten in our party. I was sharing with three others. Me and my mate shared the living room. As I picked my bed, which was the one under the settee, I pulled it out and sat on it and I fell through it! Three of the slats were broken so we told the staff but nothing was done. We took the shelf from the cupboard for my bed. TV: all we could get was ITV. Patio door was hard to lock and even the cleaners left the front door wide open. We did have clean towels every day. Phones didn't work and we walked every night for three days up hills then a lady told us about the lift, which made things better.
If you go to the Mablibu Park, you must go to the 'St. Engie's' bar. It's by the Irish bar. Really good night and for your meals, go to the 'Castle' bar on the beach front - all great food and cheap.
We all enjoyed it and would go back again. It was just my bed I missed - sleeping on the floor on a mattress isn't nice.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Malibu park for one week and could not have stayed a day longer. The beds got made every working day but never got changed, the fridge had rust all along the bottom and was not too clean, the toilet, bath and tiles had fungus growing on them, lights not working and apartment very dull at night and floors never got swept once. You get fresh towels ever other day but this is the only thing that I would say was good.
We walked up the hill for the first three days and were then told that there is a lift by the little Chinese restaurant (you must have a meal there it is lovely and a good price - just don't ask for a vodka as she thinks you drink it straight). The apartment is close to the water park but nothing else. At the start of the holiday we got taxis around but that was costing a small fortune so we resorted to the bus - not good!
The reception staff are not too happy or helpful at all. We felt if we asked for help we were bothering them. We will never stay at the Malibu Park again. I read the reviews before I went and thought that it couldn't be that bad. Maybe I just went with the wrong frame of mind but fungus and rust? Not somewhere you should be staying and paying a lot of money for. Well, I hope your holiday is much better than mine was.

Read all reviews before we went so felt uneasy when we arrived. Had to wait two hours for a room, which seemed longer when we had been up so early that morning. The reception staff were very helpful and showed us to our rooms when they were ready. Pleasantly surprised, it was clean and tidy and all locks worked. We stayed in room 3075 which over looked the pool, which was great as we could keep our eye on our 12 year old daughter.
The pool area was cleaned daily and the pool also. This had to be, as holiday makers could not be bothered putting their rubbish in the bins provided. The splash bar was good and showed kids' films in the evening. The staff were great and pleasant and the food was good.
Was a bit of a walk in the evening down to some restaurants but after two weeks, I never felt fitter. I would not hesitate to recommend the Malibu Park apartments. We are going back for seven nights in Februray 2009.

"OK But Could Be A Lot Better"

We stayed at the Malibu Park for two weeks. My first impressions of the place were really positive. Our apartment was clean, had good space and had most equipment which you needed like a fridge and cooker etc. but would have liked a microwave as it would have been more convenient and quicker. One word of warning: if you are looking for TV, music and air conditioning etc. you have to pay extra for these at the reception plus you also have to pay a hefty deposit as well which is really annoying and off putting (even though when you return the item you get your deposit back).
At the start the cleaners would come in, clean your apartment floors, change the bed, empty the bins and replace your towels and toilet rolls etc., but into our second week, we noticed that the cleaners only emptied our bins and cleaned our floor and didn't even bother changing our bed or our towels etc. which I found totally unacceptable, especially having to lie on a bed that wasn't being changed. As far as cockroaches go, we only had one and that was out on our balcony so I cant complain at all. The view we had from our apartment was very nice and again I cant complain. Also our apartment was well situated with shops, bars and entertainment just a small walk away plus, if you wanted to, you could use the lift to get you from the third floor to the ground level. I found this really handy and the lift always worked and was easy to use.
I also found the internet cafe at the reception really useful and handy if you needed to keep in touch with family or loved ones back home and let them know you were safe and well. For one euro you got ten minutes useage time, which I found very reasonable. There is also a great breakfast bar next to the reception called the 'Terrace Bar'. The food is good, plus the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Kat who helped me a lot when I needed help with anything and I really appreciated her help and couldn't thank her enough. She was a lovely woman.
I was less impressed with the small supermarket also beside the reception. Yes, it was really handy and had everything you needed, but one day I purchased two drinks from the terrace bar and my friend needed to go to the supermarket so I went in with her. The person at the till saw quite clearly me entering the shop with my two drinks, but when my friend had bought her goods and we were about to leave, the person at the till accused me of not paying for the two drinks I had bought from the 'Terrace Bar'. When I tried to explain to her that I had bought them from the bar next door, she flew off into a rage and actually took off and left the shop unattended. And to make matters even worse, her shop didn't even sell the drinks I had bought. From that day on, I didn't go near her supermarket because I found her attitude and personality to be very poor so do beware.
I found the pool and sunbathing areas very good but I did notice that for some reason the big pool was always dirty and the small pool always clean?
I found the receptionists fairly friendly and helpful and can't complain. One thing I didn't enjoy was my next door neighbour leaving his TV on all night with the volume right up and because our bed was right next to the wall, I found getting a good night's sleep very difficult and even when I went to security and reception to report this, nothing was ever done about it and it just kept continuing. I feel that the security and reception should be more strict and firm on this matter. Don't get me wrong, I know it's a holiday resort and all and that people do like to stay up and party, including myself, but I think there has to be more respect for people who need and want to get some sleep as well.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Malibu Park, even with all its ups and downs and would stay there again, but will admit that there is a lot of things this resort drastically needs to improve on, that's for sure, in order for its visitors to return back.

The worst place we have ever stayed as a family. Dirty apartments, cracked and broken tiles in both the apartments and pool, the door on the fridge was red with rust, the fitting in the bathroom also red with rust, lights broken and the apartment was alive with cockroaches. What you see in the glossy brochure is not what our family got.
Another apartment was broken into and holiday makers' belongings stolen. Windows broken during a fight with glass and blood everywhere.
If you want an apartment and holiday like this, book the Malibu Park.

I would never bring my family to a so called three star apartment block like this ever. The resort is good but the Malibu Park apartments are well below par in all matters. I have looked over other feed backs but all are years old and not up to date. This one is true and up to date.

Malibu Park apartments are apartments. They are not five star hotels, so if you want a fairly cheap, clean, comfortable resort then its for you! They are great and exciting. The cleaners come everyday and they are friendly. Myself and my partner even left a few valuables as a test and they were not touched.
I love the receptionists, especially Christina who is on in the morning till 3 p.m. and the middle aged man on throughout the night. They are so funny and made our stay so much more enjoyable. Even though the pool is cold it is fun to lounge round the sides or in the bar.
The hill is not that steep and takes less than ten minutes to walk up. At the bottom are shops, bars, breakfast diners and Chinese restaurants. A 15 minute walk, Sant Eugenio is a shopping centre with many things to buy.
My holiday was great and will definitely be going back!

The Malibu Park hotel itself has very friendly reception staff. However, maintenance and cleanliness are not the best in the world. It took three days to get some lighting into the bathroom, showering in the dark is not too wise. The apartment was supposed to be self catering however the fridge was located in front of the oven as it was too tall to fit into the units space provided for it. Once we moved that out of the way it was to find that we couldn't use the oven anyway as there were no shelves or trays. There was an attempt at providing one but it was too big for the oven however as compensation they did bring us a glass bowl to put our fruit in. All units were greasy and dirty and had to be cleaned before making a sandwich.
We were promised a room move which did not materialise, still, we were away from home and the local bars were friendly and not too expensive. There are not a lot of facilities on the site and 50 per cent of the accommodation is privately owned. Noise levels are just about tolerable.
The area has changed somewhat over the last few years and the standards are now much higher and a lot of money has been spent and is still being spent on updating and improving the resort.

"Malibu Park, Don't Even Go There!"

Malibu Park is the worst apartment we have ever stayed in. We booked to go away for New Year 2007. When we arrived in Malibu Park on 28/12/2007, we were surprised to see how miserable the reception staff were, but we thought it couldn't be that bad.
Our apartment looked quite clean only to be very, very wrong. I woke up in the middle of the night only to find that we were accompanied by several cockroaches. We wouldn't have minded as much, but as we had our 22 month old son with us this obviously meant that the apartment wasn't clean. I was right - our bed linen never got changed in the two week stay we had there and our towels were changed about five times.
There is no entertainment in the apartments, so we had to find some elsewhere. Malibu Park is quite high up on the island and walking down to find good pubs was OK but walking up was quite hard, especially with a pram and when you get to the apartments to find that the lifts don't work - this carried on for a week and half, so we either had to take the hill which was at a 45 degree angle or the stairs to the top floor. The only security we had on our doors was a plank of wood, to stop intruders from the outside, but the baby could open the door, which was very unsafe. Our shower broke in first week and only got fixed the day we were leaving.
We reported all of these problems to our Thomas Cook rep, and he couldn't care less, so we asked him for alternative accommodation. He only checked one hotel for us. By the 4th of January we wanted to go home as we were so fed up. We checked for flights but there weren't any and we still had a week left.
During the second week, there were still problems, but we paid so much for the holiday it seemed a shame for it to be wasted, so we tried to enjoy.
I would not recommend Malibu Park to anyone, especially families with young children or the elderly. The resort was fantastic, but the accommodation was a disgrace.

The apartments and staff were great. Maid service left a lot to be desired, although towels were clean most days of our week break, the bed sheets were not. The toilets stank, but only now and again. The staff were so friendly and so were the other guests.
It is a great basic family holiday. I was there with my daughter in law and two grandchildren - a nine year old boy and six year old girl. Thomas Cook holiday reps were fab and we all enjoyed our three excursions. Our favourite was the catamaran - three hours of pure bliss.
I recommend the Malibu park apartment complex and we will surely be back again in the near future. The view from our veranda was superb.

I had read lots of reviews before we went to the Malibu Park and I wasn't looking forward to it as we had our two children of six and three with us.
The room was clean and we had maid service every week day, our balcony overlooked the Aqua Park and the sea to the left and mountains to the right. We didn't get asked for a deposit on arrival and we didn't bother with the television as we were on holiday! If you require a fan the cheapest place to get one on rent is 'Lito's' at the bottom of the hill and to book excursions go to 'Admiral Travel' - first stop that the free bus from the hotel stops at.
There is a lift at the back of the complex so that you can miss out the steep hill at the front. The rep Laura was terrific and really helpful and checked that we were happy constantly.
I recommend 'Hemingways' opposite the Aqua Park for home cooked English breakfasts cooked by Gary and also at night for karaoke with Dwayne. Kim and Kevin own and run the bar and are really friendly and helpful and my children loved going there every night and even went up to sing!
We had no cockroaches in our apartment or in the complex, a few on the street at night but that was it! The pool area was clean and the pools were terrific. The beds got snatched up quickly and the pool bar was expensive. The bar showed two recent films at night, not of the best quality. Would have been better if they had provided a karaoke or quiz night so that people got to know each another but overall a terrific place and I would certainly return next year!

When we first arrived, we where surprised at the length away from the beach we where as we had said we wanted to be near it. It took a good 15 minutes to get booked in, then when we did eventually find our room, we found this to be very cramped and old fashioned with no air conditioning. The toilet seat was broken, but the maintenance guy came straight away and mended this which was good.
After being in the complex three days, we were burgled of everything we couldn't get in to the safe. All the reception did was tell us we would have to go ourselves to the police station to register our claim so that I could get my crime reference number. The reps didn't have a car so we had everything to do ourselves! We wouldn't advise anyone to go to these apartments as the security is a joke!
Apart from that, we enjoyed our time in Playa de Las Americas and the ‘Jungle Park' is excellent for kids and adults alike!

Great apartments, very clean and spacious. First holidays without the children - they were sunning it up in Florida! Pool ok, a bit small for me, I usually like a grand pool and it was freezing. The weather was good, but the pool only seemed to get the sun until dinner. This wasn't a problem as we headed for the beach.
There is a shop on site with is reasonable in price. Didn't eat at the apartments so I don't know what the food is like. Eating out is cheap.
No entertainment as such and this would be what I want if I was with my children. Lots of children there but I didn't see any kids' clubs. Overall fantastic holiday, but probably wouldn't take the children there as not enough going on for me.

The hotel provides a 24 hour reception which is great! Just make sure you never close your door with the key still inside as the hotel only holds one key per room. Our neighbour made that mistake and a member of staff had to climb out of our balcony and in to the other to get the door open!
The loungers go pretty quickly so get down there early in the morning. The only thing I didn't like was the swimming pools were freezing cold the whole stay, regardless of how sunny it was outside! Overall we loved our stay!

If you are looking for a very nice and clean resort, look no further as I was very pleased with the Malibu Park. I have never known a resort look so clean and tidy like Malibu. Yes, there is a slight hill to walk up, but if you go to the Chinese restaurant at the bottom of the hill you will find a lift that you can use, also don't forget to go to the Chinese restaurant, they are very homely.
I stayed at Malibu for two weeks in 2005 and I am going back in May 1006 with my friend who has just lost her husband. We are going on a widow's holiday. No men allowed thanks. We will be looked after as I think the Malibu is a great place
It's not far to the shopping mall below, but remember not to buy heavy things as the walk up to the lift is a bit tiring, if you are not all that fit like me. I am looking forward to going again.
Oh, the rooms are very clean and large. We had a great view of Mount Teide and that is why I go. Also this year I will have been a widow for 23 years the day after I arrive and this is the first abroad holiday I had with my husband. I am going to pray for my husband this year in a Tenerife church. No, I am not sad, I just loved my husband so much and thank him every time I go back to Tenerife for the wonderful holiday I had with him.
Oh, by the way I have also been to the very top of Mount Teide and what a gorgeous view you have from up there. It is breath taking, also going through the cloud is wonderful. Malibu Park is a large complex of over 300 apartments. It has a very good on-site shop, helpful 24 hour reception staff, internet access and two pizza/snack areas and a bar showing movies on the complex.
The sun loungers go quickly around the pool. Each room has a television but you must feed it ?1 per hour. There are no alarm clocks or radios in the apartments, but you do get a hairdryer.
The rooms are modern, clean, a generous size and have stunning views from the balcony of mountains, sea and the aqua park. Others look-in on the complex over the swimming pool and bar area. Safety deposit boxes are available in every room, also ample storage space.
The apartments are very clean inside and out with cheery cleaning staff cleaning them and making up the beds each day. My only qualm is the hot water tank in the apartment only holds enough hot water for two small hot showers. If you have a long shower, your partner will have to wait a good half-hour before they can enjoy theirs, unless you like cold showers!
It is only a 15-20 minute downhill stroll to the nearest supermarket, past the Windmill restaurant. There is also a nearer, smaller one signposted from the reception and reception can always call you a taxi, which usually arrives within minutes. There's also a taxi rank outside the supermarket, down the hill, over the motorway, which is handy for bringing you back up heart-attack hill with all your shopping.
You may want to bring your own salt and pepper and a good kitchen knife (in your suitcase ? not hand luggage!) to make it a quality self-catering experience, all other essentials e.g. corkscrew were included. You should also have ?80 cash on arrival for your (returnable) room and safety deposit box deposits. The room deposit is essential, and not mentioned clearly in all the travel itenaries.
Other than that, besides noisy neighbours, wafer thin walls and loud stiletto's, which are impossible to predict, have a great time there ? we did!!!
