"Gran Playa Aparthotel Is Awful"

The Gran Playa aparthotel, without prejudice, is in my opinion the worst holiday hotel I have ever stayed at. In 40 years of holidaying abroad and quite a few all inclusive deals, this one rates the lowest. If I could influence anybody in any way as to rectifying this I would say to them close it down and start again with new management and a review to refurbishment and menus.

"Amazing"

Do people expect five star for £350? I'm going to share the honest truth!
I expected this hotel to be more on the rough side for the money but it was brill! There were also no missing tiles by the pool. Great hotel, great food - not a lot of English choice but it was edible and the staff worked very hard 24/7!
It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the room was a nice size and had a cooker etc, even though we didn't need that because we were all inclusive. Nice balcony looking over the pools.
The entertainment staff were amazing - they tried so hard to keep the kids entertained and the kids loved it! Even though the entertainment was usually more for kids, it was hilarious to be there. The entertainment staff were so funny!
The beach is gorgeous. Right opposite the hotel is a bar called the 'King's Head'. We stayed at the hotel to get our all inclusive drinks until usually 11-12 p.m. then with the entertainment staff (who were just there for the laugh, totally respectable!) went over to the bar. The people there are also amazing. They have a laugh while they are working. The music is R n B/dance and some cheese. It is open until 3.00 a.m. and five minutes down the road is Cala Millor, six euros in a taxi and there are nightclubs to suit everyone open until 6 a.m.
I'm going back again next year with the girls to the Gran Playa!

"Gran Playa. Worst Hotel Ever Been To!!"
Travel date:
August 2007
The Gran Playa hotel is the worst hotel me and my family have ever been to. We arrived at the hotel at about 5 o'clock in the morning. There were four of us and we paid for two separate rooms but the man at reception said they were booked up and took us to one room for us to share which wasn't even in the hotel, it was a separate part around the corner and over the road!
We had a maid two out of six days! The food was disgusting. As soon as you went into the room, it had a very strong smell of fish. It was the same food every day, salad, bread and fruit! There was sausages and spaghetti and other things but they were luke warm and looked raw! Also there were buckets on the floor where water was leaking from the roof into the bucket! How professional!
Sa Coma did seem like a nice place.

"Very Poor Hotel"
Travel date:

This is by far the worst hotel I have stayed at. The food was luke warm and you had to be quick to get any before the flies had it all!! The plates weren't clean and the choice was very poor.
The decor from the outside to the inside was very dirty with the exception of the rooms. They were acceptable, although the cleaner needed a lesson in how to clean.
The staff seldom talked or even smiled (except the receptionist).
Entertainment was very poor. The entertainers did their bit but were below average. I think they had had enough for one season and it showed.
I will never visit this hotel again. The only highlight was JJ's British bar, two minutes walk away. Service and food were superb and prices were very good. Perhaps Jack, Lois and Clare from JJ's could teach the hotel management a thing or two!!
Sa Coma was clean and overall friendly with good shops and local attractions although my wife almost fell foul of 2 women pick pocketing, luckily I was observant and recovered her money.... an old guy was robbed on our last day so the motto here is be careful!!!.

"Hotel Not So Good"
Travel date:

Sa Coma was great, good weather but the Gran Playa in Sa Coma was poor. All inclusive food average, much the same daily. Drinks stopped at 12 am and you were asked to go to your room. There was only one room with entertainment. That was poor, nothing else to do but go to bed or sit bored on your balcony and with it being an all inclusive hotel, who wants to spend a fortune going out at night.
Also there were a few people who cut their feet in the pool because there were loose tiles. The outside bar area was not kept very clean and it closed as soon as the night time so called entertainment started which consisted of a half hour kids disco (same songs every night), a game of bingo and some sort of reps show or 20 minutes of something boring from some were else. Would definitely go back to Sa Coma but not to the Gran Playa.

"Excellent Place"
Travel date:
June 2005
I stayed in the Gran Playa four years ago with my husband and we loved staying there. We decided to go back there again with our three year old little girl, because I remembered this place was very good for children as well.
Everything you need is there for you: a beautiful sandy beach with shallow water five minutes walk from the hotel, a very large supermarket five minutes walk away, food in the hotel is excellent and healthy, you have to be incredible fussy if you can't find something you like at each meal as there are a number of choices. The shops are two minutes from the hotel (you can get anything).
We stayed as 'all inclusive' and never saw drunk people around. The alcohol level in the drinks is quite low but very enjoyable.
The staff in the hotel are very polite and friendly, the whole place is very very clean (rooms cleaned every other day), every apartment has a large balcony, kitchen (with everything you need (except microwave), fridge, cooker, pots and pans etc, table with four chairs (nice pine furniture), four beds, separate bedroom, curtains with blackout (I didn't need air conditioning).
The entertainment wasn't bad (improved a lot since four years ago). There was a children's disco every night which my child loved to dance to. From Sa Coma it is very easy to reach other places by bus or by boat. The pools are good for all ages, but don't expect a life guard, look after your own children. I think it's fair. I'm looking forward to going back again.
