"Laguna Park II. Not All Bad By The Way"
Travel date:
October 2009
Returned on 24th October 2009 and here's my review of my stay at the Laguna Park II.
Nice layout to the hotel. Loads of apartments and a steep walk to the bottom ones so maybe, if you are a bit dodgy with the legs, maybe worthwhile requesting an apartment near top of complex. Either way, it's a steep walkway to the pool/bar/restaurant or a steep walk back up from them, although there are elevators to take you from poolside to the main walkway two floors up of the hotel.
Rooms are fine. Don't expect the Ritz! But it's not bad as no doubt some folk will review. TV, cooker, fridge, microwave, cutlery/plates, kettle and towels all supplied. Bed was broken on arrival (not through my usage anyways) but was changed with a brand new bed within an hour
Digital safe in the room where you set your own code - great idea! Sliding patio doors - they are safe enough and mine locked fine, but still the advice is put anything of importance at all in the safe. I certainly had no problem with theft etc.
Staff were really nice. Amy in entertainment is a stunner but boyfriended up. Still, she was my karaoke backbone on a couple of nights, sometimes disastrously, say no more - she just picked bad duet songs!
Entertainment programme was actually quite good. I'm not one for hotel entertainment but the illusionist had me glued and the Billy Connolly show was very good, although toned down.
Pool - heated seawater but really could do with being cleaned. It was fine but too many floating objects for folk like me who should've been born a seal as I'm constantly swimming under the water. I hope the hotel does take this issue on board quite quickly! Plenty of sun loungers and the hotel has the rule of no reserved sun loungers with towels. Excellent rule!
Pool bar/snack bar very good, I have to say. Used it on the last day after a serious heavy night before. Food nicely priced.
Hotel's main bar where entertainment is has spirit drinks terribly priced and this comment should be taken on board! €11 for two Morgans and dash. Get used to the lager very quickly! San Miguel is very nice and I hate lager!
All in all, it was a fine enough holiday. No real complaints apart from the pointers above. I've been to many similar hotels within this star range and found them all perfectly sort of fine.
Beach is about ten minutes away near McDonadls and Burger King too which is brill for hangover cures!
The hotel is situated near the top of a steep hill road. Be careful if there are infirm or elderly group members as it is an incline and a half.
Watch the water in the apartments - it'll scald you. There are signs within apartment warning you of this though.
Pubs etc. are at the bottom of the hill and along the beach. Make sure you go to 'The Harp'. Stuart does a brilliant job in there. Forget the 'Academy Bar'. Lassie who does the karaoke needs lessons on how to compère! I do karaokes and she is the worst I have ever, ever experienced. If you read this, don't insult customers - it's firmly bad for the business of the bar.
Restaurants - the set meals are good but be very careful of the '*' at the side of meals. 'L'Osteria' next to 'Garfields' has a €1.50 supplement on anything marked with a star! Very deceiving so only went once. Chinese buffet next to the above is very nice and restaurant next to 'The Harp' is very nice - sirloin is yum yum.

"Laguna Park II - Good Value"
Travel date:
March 2006
The Laguna Park II is in the Adeje area of Los Americas and 'high' up on a hill - this is not for guests with walking difficulties! All the apartments involve 'climbing' steps at some time, but they are clean and were kept clean throughout our stay.
The complex is self contained and has a supermarket, hairdressers and of course a bar, restaurant and snack bar. The pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds but beware, the water is really cold. The hotel does have a free shuttle bus to take you down to the beach which is about a mile away.
