"Never Again"

Just got back from the Turbo Club. Stayed there for two weeks. Weather was great. Food was OK, except breakfast (only eggs and some hams).
Rooms were clean, but if you are going, take cockroach spray - there are loads of them there.
Entertainment was horrible. Nothing on at night time. If there was anything, it lasted half an hour. Most of the nights we spent playing cards! There was only one kids' entertainer and they had two days off in a week.
Swimming pool is not suited for kids - it's way too deep. No snack bar - that is important for kids.
Resort is more for Spanish people. We were surrounded by them and lots of Germans as well. We would never go back there again.

The rooms were clean and were cleaned every day. The pools were lovely, especially the small pool as it was a bit quieter. The staff were friendly and helpful- I can't understand why people complain about the staff.
I had read many bad reviews about the food but the food was fine - enough to choose from and even good enough to go back for second helpings.
My children enjoyed the mini disco and the entertainment was good for adults too with reptile shows, parrot shows, bingo, bird shows and music quizzes which we won!
The TV, internet and fans/air con units are all an extra charge, but what do you expect on a two star holiday. For the money we paid we got extremely good value.
I would without a doubt go back to the Turbo Club. In fact, after two weeks I wanted to stay longer, which was helped by the great people we met there but also because of the hotel. If you read any bad reviews, ignore them. If you expect to go on holiday home from home or eat English food and expect everyone to speak English, my advice is stay at home! Otherwise have a great holiday and enjoy the Turbo Club. We did.

The Turbo Club apartments are lovely, very clean and the pool area was spotless. I stayed with my 12 year old son, who loved the pool. Childrens' entertainment was OK for younger kids, but not a lot for teenagers to do.
Food wasn't great - pretty basic. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, though only one that I spoke to could speak any English. One waitress was absolutely horrible - her attitude was really bad and kind of avoided the bar etc. if she was serving. I would have complained about her manner if I'd thought anyone would understand!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Turbo Club apartments (237). It was clean and tidy. Food and drink was good. Local to shopping centres and bars (I recommend you find a place call 'Ricky's'). Met lots of people. We did not want to leave there is so much to do there. Next time we will go for more than a week. Really enjoyed myself.

The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. The food in general was OK, with plenty of options. Daytime entertainment/games were good fun. Evening entertainment was getting better towards the end of the week. Staff are very friendly. Overall this was a very nice cheap all inclusive holiday and my husband and I would go back.

"Value For Money"
Travel date:
May 2007
I booked this holiday earlier this year, having first read the reviews. I travelled with my in-laws who are both in their 70's and have been on many All Inclusive Cruises, my husband and my four year old daughter who has never been abroad.
I went with an open mind as most complaints seemed to be about sheets not getting changed daily. I have to ask, how often do people do that at home!!
We arrived at silly o'clock in the morning and were met at reception by a very pleasant gentleman who made a fuss of our daughter and showed us to our rooms. We didn't realise until we read the literature we had been given the next morning that if we had asked, we would have been given some sandwiches. To be honest all we needed at that point was a bed, and very comfortable it was too!
The apartment was clean, but if you wish to have a kettle, microwave or air con then these need to be hired from reception. The fridge was full sized and there was crockery available. There are no drawers in the bedrooms, but there are two large cupboards with shelves and a hanging rail and several coat hangers. It seems like all the patios overlook one of the two pools, and the bedroom has a very small balcony as well.
I think in our week we saw the maid three or four times. Whilst the sheets or towels were not changed, I hadn't expected them to be and they didn't need changing either!
There was a choice of food at each meal, and even with a fussy eater like myself, I never had a problem filling my plate (so much so that my shorts were a little tight by the end of the week!) There was pork, beef, chicken and fish at every dinner and evening meal, often in various formats. The salad selection was excellent, and there was always a vegetable selection as well. The food was replenished as soon as trays looked low and was always hot. Soup was also available. Dessert was ice cream every meal though there were three to choose from, and these could change during the course of the meal as tubs were replenished - strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, peach, banana, lemon, toffee, pistachio and there might have been a coffee one as well! Everyone in the party agreed how nice this was. There was always a selection of fruit available from melon and kiwi fruit to bananas, apples and oranges. The service in the dining room was second to none, a trolley went round and round throughout the meal times clearing plates and cutlery very quickly.
There only seemed to be a handful of staff who worked both the bar and the dining room, and they were all extremely friendly and efficient.
Twice a week a British lady Helen comes to do manicures and nail art for a very reasonable 15 to 20 euros depending on what you want done. Every other day a sun care specialist is there to advise on sun cream and after sun (although they are selling they will give free advice) and there is also a scuba lesson available for ten euros in the main pool.
The supermarket has everything you need and is not much more expensive than the supermarkets away from the hotel. Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a market just down the road from the hotel within walking distance. Shop around as prices vary per stall. This is more a tourist market and prices are reflective of this. If you like the leather bags one word of advice, don't accept the first price, in fact if you see one you like ask how much, say no and walk off, the price drops a lot!
Holiday World is about ten minutes walk and has a variety of fairground rides but doesn't really open till about 7 p.m. However, there is ten pin bowling there all day and a selection of kids' rides for just a euro. Good value for money.
The entertainer was ill half way through our holiday so there was no kids' club or evening entertainment. The first couple of days while he was there this consisted of a quiz or bingo at 9.30 at night.
The atmosphere at the hotel is calm and peaceful, though there is music on all day by the main pool which we really liked. I believe this was a very quiet time for the hotel. We kept one room and paid for the additional all inclusive on our last day for the other room. This was excellent value for money as our coach didn't come till 1.45 in the morning.
For about three euros in a taxi you can go to the beach in Maspalomas or the busier resort of Playa Ingles.
I would go back there, and even the in laws enjoyed it. Make sure you take a decent factor sun cream as many people hadn't and got burnt. We paid for three star, and we got three star. In fact we got excellent value for money. No one was ill, and no one had a bad time.

"Fantastic Value For Money"

We arrived at reception in the small hours of Sunday morning. Although the receptionist spoke no English whatsoever, he was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. He even had food and drink available for us after the bar and restaurant was closed.
With regards to the all inclusive food, in our opinion we believed this to be of a very high standard considering the cost of our package holiday. Even beef steak was available one evening, and a great amount of choice was apparent for all tastes always including salad, fish, pasta and meat dishes.
Our room was impeccably clean, spacious and modern. Our only gripe that at the beginning of February we were cold with minimal blankets to cover us up at night.
We only experienced the entertainment on the last night, which was an hour disco for the children and a sports quiz shortly after which were both fun. A mile walk and you have a purpose built funfair, bowling and bar complex which was great for our four year old son and us alike.
With temperatures getting up to 28 deg in February, we found this was a fantastic winter break in the sun and would thoroughly recommend the Turbo Club Apartments.

"Turbo Club Was Nice"

Had a great hol (only returned over a week ago). Rooms were lovely and spacious, pool was immaculate, drinks were spot on (and strong).
The two downsides were the food, which I found stomach turning, and I'm not a picky eater, a bit school canteen like and, on the last day which we had paid for, we had to hand over all inclusive privileges at 12.00 lunchtime. No matter what time you were leaving that day and they expected you to pay another 12 euros to eat (no thanks) and drink there.
Other than my two moans we had a fab time and the people watching definitely made up for the food.

Just got back from my holiday. A lovely break. Rooms were very clean. Food basic. Entertainment poor in the evening. The staff in the dining area I found very rude and unpleasant.
I would go back to the Turbo Club if the staff was more friendly. If it wasn't for the people I met while I was there I would have moved to another complex but like they say, you get what you pay for.

"Trip Summary"
Travel date:
January 2006
I have just got back from a week away at the Turbo Club and I thought I should share my opinions. A lot of people have been saying that the club caters mainly for the German guests. This is inaccurate as there is entertainment at night for Spanish, English and German backgrounds involving a kids' disco and adult entertainment in forms of shows and quizzes to follow.
The all inclusive bar is well stocked with choices of brandy, whiskeys, rums etc. and with friendly bar staff, who can say no to the odd tipple. The food I found to be of a high standard. The platter covered the majority of food groups with salads and ice cream adding a little something more.
The accommodation was adequate, although in the winter months the room did get cold and extra blankets were needed.
As for the complex itself, there are two more than adequate pools and a small jacuzzi for those with a need to relax. There is also music playing most of the day to add atmosphere, along with additional entertainment in the form of inter-complex competitions for all ages including mini-golf, football and table tennis.
The resort would suit any family as well as the younger generation. If you are like myself and enjoy a good night out, the hotel is a great place to start. Have a few drinks here and something to eat and you are going to save yourself a huge amount of euros when considering the local alternatives. Overall I would give a four out of five and would consider visiting the complex again.

"Turbo Club, Just Returned"

Just returned from a week's holiday. Two adults getting away from the kids. We found the apartment and complex very clean. Meals are basic but there is a good assortment for all tastes. We enjoyed the food. Red and white wine, beer, cold drinks, coffee with meals. We went out in the evenings after dinner. We like to visit bars and nightlife, so we cannot comment on Turbo's entertainment. For what we paid, we found the Turbo value for money. Yes, we would go back. We love Maspalomas, it's nice and peaceful. Playa del Ingles with all its nightlife is just a taxi way, five minutes, three euros.

"Turbo Club Apartments"
Travel date:
October 2005
Just returned from my holiday to Gran Canaria - accommodation Turbo Club, Maspalomas. I booked my holiday last minute and after I read the reviews before I went I was a bit worried, but I went with open eyes and decided not to judge until I got there. The apartments are very clean and really spacious for two. The food was good, a bit basic and by end of week a bit repetitive but there was no need anyone for anyone to go hungry. The apartments are in a quiet area. Entertainment was a bit basic.
But our holiday there was spoilt. Our apartment was broken into, the window forced open (in the afternoon), up to £300 of items were stolen from our room. And before we left a total of five apartments had been done that week. Some reception staff struggle to talk English, which was not much help when you are just given the number of the police. Obviously this happens frequently there so if you visit the Turbo Club, do not leave valuables in your room at any time. Keep your windows closed at all times too!!!!
These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
