"Mogan Princess Diamond Hotel"
Travel date:
October 2008
Booked two days before travelling. Arrived as dinner was about to finish and reception staff concerned that we should eat before going to our room as we had had such a long day. Although we were very tired, we went to the bright and happy dining room and enjoyed a five star dinner with gorgeous tasty fresh food - superb and this continued throughout our seven day stay. Lovely, lovely staff can't do enough to help and tables spotless, as was everything. When we did go to our room after dinner, what can we say? It was gorgeous. Everything you could wish for. The view was stunning with breathtaking sunsets. The room was spotless and cleaned every day - bed linen changed twice during our stay. The bathroom was kept pristine with towels changed daily (we chose not to change to as water is scarce in Spain) and every little helps. Everyone at the Mogan Princess was so kind and did everything to make our holiday perfect and we thank them.
Our only concern on arriving home was we had to diet! The Taurito resort is still developing but we will return as soon as we can. Thank you to all at Mogan Princess and also the Thomas Cook staff - top team.

"Relaxing Not Lively"
Travel date:
September 2008
Booked this holiday at the Mogan Princess two days before departure after loosing our original holiday due to the collapse of XL airlines.
The hotel was clean but the sheets in our room were not changed during our weeks stay. The pool area was spotless and there was no problem getting a sun bed. The food was OK (not four star) but got a little boring towards the end of our stay. The night time entertainment was varied - typical working men's club entertainment.
The worst part of our holiday was the access road up to the hotel. We enjoy walking but hated the road. It took you to the bus stop and resort centre so we used it on a daily basis. Very steep and full of pot holes. Not for the elderly or infirm.

"A Place To Avoid!"
Travel date:

Where do I start? After a five hour delay at Manchester my wife and I arrived at the hotel at 02.30 hours to be met by the night receptionist who couldn't speak a word of English. He checked us in and handed us an A4 sheet that appeared to be masqerading as a 'map' of the hotel and then waved us away to find our room.
Half an hour later, after going up and down in the main lift, we returned to reception complaining that we still could not find our room. The night 'security' man then escorted us into two different lifts and up five differing staircases until we finally came to our room (by now it was around 03.15!).
The hotel comprises six separate blocks, some connected by lifts, some by stairs, some by ramped walkways. The problem is that there's no directional signage so it's a lottery if you find your room or not.
By the way, if you're at all infirm in any way, avoid this hotel. The steps and ramps will stop you getting you about and the 20 minute hike down the unsurfaced road into Taurito will be virtually impossible.
Playa Taurito itself is a man-made resort comprising six hotels split on either side of a very deep steep valley and a 'lido' area in the middle (charging nine euros a day). There's only two little souvenir shops, a Spar supermarket, and a couple of small bars. That's it. Nothing else, not even a house. No-one lives in Taurito.
Back to the Mogan Princess Hotel, the food is terrible. My wife and I had to live on salad all week as nothing else was suitable. Many of the other guests were complaining about the food too. Meats etc leftover from lunch reappeared at dinner mixed into salads. The same bowls of salad bits (eg sweetcorn, beetroot, etc) were simply stirred up to give the impression of being fresh. If you don't like pork or veal then you're going to be a vegetarian for the length of your stay. Having travelled to many countries all round the world, we have never had such bad food anywhere.
If you want something to drink but don't want to sit outside then you're going to be thirsty! The pool bar is open from 11.00 until 18.00 hours and there's nowhere else in the hotel to get a drink (of any description, alcoholic/soft/tea or coffee) from. The inside bar (Princess Salon) only opens from 18.00 until 24.00 hours (at which time you will be forced, and I mean forced, to leave and go back to your room). If it's raining or cloudy and you don't like sitting outside, you want to sit inside - tough luck. You can't.
The hotel's laundry service - don't use it. We handed in one pair of my and three pairs of my wife's trousers on Monday morning and only got them back on Thursday evening. And guess what - all four pairs had shrunk, so badly that despite the hotel re-washing and stretching them we had to bin all four pairs. The hotel did refund the 20 euro cost of washing them though - not bad for £100 of clothes!
Hotel's entertainment team - not bad, considering. Nichan, Paolo, Cindy and Roeliene all did a good job in very trying circumstances. The hotel being full of mainly 60 something and older Germans doesn't make for a willing audience!
Views from the hotel are magnificent - being 200 feet up a cliff makes that possible I suppose.
All in all, the worst holiday we've ever been on. I'd booked it as a surprise first wedding anniversary present. How I wish I'd booked somewhere else! Won't be going back, not even to Gran Canaria. Put us off for life.

"Best Hols Yet"

The hotel is brilliant. It was the first time we had stayed at a Princess hotel. We will definitely look out for this chain elsewhere. The staff were so obliging and helpful to me with my dodgy knees! Suitable for all ages. Whilst we were there it was term time, so most people were either young with pre-school children (all very well behaved) or retired like ourselves.
Lots to do. We hired a car one day to investigate the west and north coasts. Plenty of excursions available from the tour reps.
The food was all excellent with plenty of choice. They are very good on the freshness and purity of their produce. (The chefs keep bringing in fresh platters for the buffets at all meals). 10 out of 10.
Free transport to the Taurito beach and also to the idyllic Puerto de Mogan, harbour and beaches.

"Mogan Princess Is Great"

On arrival, it was past midnight and it was a little too difficult to find our hotel room, as there were too many lifts to take. Once we had a good night's sleep, opened the curtains in the morning and the view was amazing. This hotel is definitely a hotel to stay in.
I didn't have one complaint to make. The staff were very friendly and made you feel very welcome. The whole hotel in general was very clean. Not one bug in sight. We stayed for one week and now wish that we had stayed longer.
You'll need a car to get around as the hotel is situated on top of the mountains. Places to see are Maspalomas, Playa del ingles.
Don't be alarmed when you read some bad reviews. Get yourself booked in and enjoy your stay. We certainly loved it.
