"Be Aware"

What can I say? My husband and I booked nine weeks before arriving. I booked via Med Hotels who I have used on numerous occasions and have always been pleased. First impression as you walk into the hotel is great. Looks like this is going to be lovely. Rooms are above average and very clean. However, you soon realise the hotel is stuck in a 'grand canyon' style set up. Deep in a ditch with another two hotels, a beach with black sand and a couple of shops selling the usual holiday ashtrays etc. The latter we could cope with, wanting something quiet.
This was jokingly referred to by us as the Bermuda triangle. You can walk around the whole place in six minutes. If you want to go into any neighbouring towns it's a taxi (very expensive) or the bus(no good for night time).
The hotel itself is no smoking. You can't smoke in the bar, only outside, where there are limited tables and chairs. The night time entertainment was solely for children (of which there are more than average numbers of). The same thing every night. Singing 'heads shoulders, knees and toes' at 10.30 p.m. is not my idea of entertainment. I'm all for kids being entertained with clubs in the day etc and early evening but not the whole of the night.
My husband and I were having to eat at 18.30 to get to a table outside so we could enjoy adult company and a cigarette. If you wanted a seat outside after 20.00, you had to settle with the floor. This moves me on to the food. Again, first impression was good variety (we hadn't eaten all day from a long day of travelling). By the last day, we didn't think it could get any worse - green beans and scrambled egg mixed didn't whet my appetite. I pride myself on being a very unfussy eater. By day five I was living on chips and bread. Earlier in the week there were nice fish fillets etc. They started to appear uncooked and one I picked up was raw in the middle.
Last but not least, I will warn you of the staff attitude. A lady fainted by the pool at 18.05. I ran to get her some water from the pool bar. I was refused and told the bar shut at 18.00. I explained that the lady was very ill. The woman behind the bar could speak English but she sat with her fag in her mouth and flatly refused. I had to go to the other side of the hotel for water. If you are all inclusive and English, expect to be served last and grunted at. My husband requested a large beer. The bar maid looked at him and said; ‘Where is your glass? If you do not bring your glass back to the bar, you will have to have a small beer. I am very busy and I do not have time to serve and collect glasses!'. I think you get the picture!

"Always Two Sides To Any Story"
Travel date:

We travelled as a group of 16 - mixed adults, teenagers and children. Staff were fabulous, helpful (ok, not all the time), amenities were great, entertainment staff were very, very good. The evening entertainment was overall very good, a bit repetitive, but we were there for two weeks, the kids loved it.
Trips into Mogan and Puerto Rico broke up the fortnight we were there. Taxis were very cheap, so we thought, especially as we were getting four each time.
The one downside was the evening bar with only two staff and very small service area, but being friendly was not hard and served to keep us in drinks without any fuss. Overall we have no problem in recommending this hotel to any likeminded group or young family. Not a place for raving drunken people, but more enjoyable for that reason. We have already booked to go back again, in fact adding an extra two to our group.
