I love it at the Kiwi apartments and really want to go back! Joe makes the best chips in the world and I missed him on his day off (Thursday)! Even though the pool was freezing, it was welcome in the heat of the day! Apart from a couple of cockroaches this was a great holiday!
One place which I must mention which must be visited is 'Ricky's' cabaret bar in the Yumbo centre! It was brilliant!

Just back last night. The Kiwi is a great place to stay. It isn't the Ritz but you get what you pay for. Bungalows are clean, beds are comfortable, but, space wise, the four of us felt crowded at times.
Joe at the bar is a legend. He never stops from 10 a.m. until often 11 at night. Always game for a laugh. Met loads of nice folk around the pool which was very welcoming to dip into to cool down from the heat.
We are a group of nearly 30 somethings who, when we wanted a wild night, we'd take a five minute taxi ride into Playa del Ingles, or if we just wanted a fun night, we'd head to the fantastic 'Banana Bar' in Faro 2 shopping centre just down the road. Fantastic cocktails, fun music and the guys working there took great care of us! Cheers Sergio etc. Fun times.

Been back from the Kiwi for a month now and really missing it. I went with my girl friend - we are young. It's a great atmosphere - it's everything you want and has a mixture of families, young couples and old couples. Everyone round the pool gets all like a family.
We met 16 great people and went to the bar beside the fairground all the time. It has great shows on nearly every night and is only about a five minute walk away from the Kiwi.
Can I just say that Joe (the barman) makes great food. Be sure to try his English breakfasts and his steak meals. He is great for letting you know where to go and how to save money - he's a top guy. I'll be booking my next holiday to the Kiwi next year.

We had a lovely holiday here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed our stay at the Kiwi. The bungalows have all you need and are basic. The people there were nice too. The bungalows have a television in them but you do have to feed it with euros. The camp was very clean and tidy and the maid service was excellent.
You are also very central to everything. The Faro II shopping centre is just outside the gate, turn right and a ten minute walk away. They have two supermarkets there and some nice shops and restaurants. Also, we recomend the 'Steak Grill' restaurant on the top level and on a corner. They also have their cocktail bar on the second level called the 'Banana Tropical'. This is a nice bar to relax and get waited on whilst listening to some great music.
The cabs are nearby and for about four euros, you can get into Playa del Ingles which had a lovely beach with shops and food and bars right along the seafront. We also visited the Yumbo Centre there in the evening, which is a huge shopping centre with plenty of buzz! The Holiday World is a short walk from the Kiwi, and has lots of rides and a bowling alley for children as well as us adults.
Right outside there is a bus stop which will take you into Puerto Rico, which is about a 20 minute journey away. Definitely woth a visit! There is a restaurant in the harbour there which is upstairs, called 'Harbour Lights' and you get a fantastic English breakfast there as well as a roast dinner on a Sunday.
The poolside bar at the Kiwi also does food but we never ate there as we were out most of the time. However they have happy hour there from 5 until 6 p.m. every day!
San Fernando Market on Saturdays is very near as well. Its huge! All in all, we had a great first time in Gran Canaria and would totally recomend it to anyone of any age group. Plenty of places to see and plenty of things to do. Maspalomas was also lovely but a bit quieter than the other places. We will definately be going back there again.

It is true - Joe is a great barman. The apartment was clean and pretty basic but that's what we expected. The bungalows are a very quiet place. I have been to far better hotels but Joe the barman made the holiday and I would say without him, the place is rubbish.
Ideal for an old couple or a family, not for people who want the night life. Also in the winter anyway the pool is absolutely freezing - it's nearly cold enough to keep food in, no lie. Anyway the Kiwi is a good place with Joe the barman although the bar shuts at six. Without him it's very boring.

Hi. Just came back two days ago from this paradise. Weather was wonderful, hotel was very nice and clean - just everything you need to relax. Atmosphere peaceful, manager helpful and nice. And two cats - grey and white females came every evening, so we were feeling just like at home.
The Kiwi Hotel is located just one minute from one small shopping centre Playmar and two minutes from second shopping centre Faro 2. It was about 20-30 minutes to the beach. We had self-catering accommodation, so had a meal in restaurants and it was about 20-30 euros a day for two of us. It was the best holiday in my life.

The accommodation is basic but comfortable and clean. A very friendly environment and as all previous statements comment, it is Joe who holds the key to its success with his warmth, humour and friendliness.

We have just returned and feel the need to go back already. The accommodation is basic but more than acceptable for a cheap self catering holiday.
The star of the bungalows is Joe the bar man. He does get a mention in every review and rightly so. He made our holiday with his good humour and caring nature. A true star which his employers should be proud of.

Hi. Me, my husband and two young children have just returned from the Kiwi Bungalows in Maspalomas. We had read all the reviews before going and had checked several other websites before making our decision.
It was everything we had expected it to be. The bungalows had enough room for us, although the kitchen hob was a bit small, everything else was perfect. The whole place was clean and tidy and we had clean towels everyday.
We had heard a lot about the barman Joe, and yes, all the reviews about him are true! He is there from around 8.30 a.m. until 11.00 or whenever the bar closes! He cooks excellent food, as well as tending to everyone's needs - he is a true asset to the Kiwi bungalows. I wonder if the place would be the same if he ever left! Thoroughly recommend staying at this place!

I have recently been out at Kiwi bungalows. In the first week of being on holiday, my grandad was rushed into hospital and we didn't know what was happening to him but the reps and the management at Kiwi bungalows were amazing. They looked after us and made sure we were alright.
The barman Joe was amazing in himself and when I celebrated my birthday, he even got me a cake.
When I stayed there there was never anyone swimming naked or anything disgusting in the pool. It was cleaned out everyday at 9.30 six days a week as the cleaners are off on Sunday. The cockroaches weren't that bad - you cant expect them just to disappear while you have a holiday.
I loved Kiwi bungalows and had the time of my life. I met new friends and will never forget this holiday. Thank you to everyone at Kiwi bungalows.

I read all the great reviews for the Kiwi on this site and decided to book two bungalows for a family of four. One of the bungalows were basic but looked nice on the outside. However, they were infested with cockroaches, it took ages to try and kill them at 3 a.m!
Next morning we had a chance to relax on the sun beds by the pool along with a very large family who had booked eight or so of the bungalows. They allowed their children to go in the pool with no bathers on, as young as two. Whilst I was in the pool, I was alerted by another couple to get out because one of the kids had done a poo in the pool. Their parents found this very amusing and did nothing to clean it up? As I climbed out, I looked back to see another child pee in the pool from the edge! I could not believe it. Straight away, we packed up and left.
I found a lovely place only yards away with a private pool. It really did make our holiday. It cost me more money but when you get so little time off work to enjoy yourself, I felt it was worth it. Maybe I just lucked out and this place is frequented by a much nicer type of people. However, my experience of the Kiwi was a bad one I'm afraid. P.S It was Joe's week off!

Just returned from two week holiday staying at Kiwi bungalows. The location of the bungalows was great; however we were disappointed with the size of the bungalows. We didn't think they were big enough for a family of four. We only had one wardrobe between the four of us and had to use the broom cupboard to put clothes in as there wasn't enough room in the wardrobe.
The food on the complex was average.
The good thing about this complex was that there was never a shortage of sun beds and the pool was great.
We wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone with a family. If there was only the two of us, it would have been great.

As a one key apartment, this is ideal very close to the shopping center Faro 2 and amusement parks. The apartments themselves are clean and have all your basic equipment. There is a small bar/restaurant on site and prices would be hard to beat outside and Joe the propriator is extremely helpful.
Be advised if you go the the welcome party with the rep that all drinks have to be paid for by yourself (expensive) as it is held in a local bar and they also have a timeshare rep there who offers you 42 euros off any trip that you may care to go on and only speaks to couples of differenct sexes and if you are females traveling together she leaves you to last (half an hour to an hour)and then tells you that you can not have the discount off the trips because you have to be a married couple.
