"Don't Listen To Bad Reviews"

Myself, my partner and my young son returned from the Clumba Mar last night and we have found some reviews misleading. We found the hotel very clean and well maintained. Food was nice, although a bit repetitive as you find in many hotels, but we always found something for each of us to eat.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and although the entertainment wasn't to everyone's taste, for a three star hotel we thought it was overall very good value for money.
We only stayed for one week, although I did think this was enough as we found the resort lovely but not a lot to do.
In the time that we stayed I only heard one complaint from a tourist at the Clumba Mar which was about the dress code for the evening meal which meant men wore trousers, but apart from that, everyone we spoke to enjoyed their holiday.
As for televisions, the one in our room had five British channels including CBBC which suited my son down to the ground.
An overall nice place so please don't be put off by bad reviews as this is a lovely hotel. We just found the resort a little limited, although Alcudia is a 15 minute bus ride away and is very cheap with a frequent local bus service.

No hair dressing area as stated in the brochure. Lack of imagination in the food, especially at dinner times and evening meals - at times vegetables under cooked, also dress code not in force. Most people dressed well but those that dressed like scarecrows still allowed in. We dined out in town due to the quality of the food.
Some staff, especially non Spanish, totally unfriendly - the rest very friendly.
We liked the room - very well looked after by the ladies that are up early to clean the place. Full marks to them!

Anyone thinking of booking the Stil Clumba Mar, don't! Anyone already booked, change it! Anyone with pre existing illness, don't even think of going there! Kids? Forget it, not even a toy, never mind a kids' club.

Room - basic but cleaned every day - about the only good point. No TV.
Food appalling - lukewarm if you were lucky but cold by the time you sat down. Appeared to be mainly deep fried frozen. Snacks at bar over road disgusting - chicken or tuna sandwich was in fact just paste sandwiches. No kids' club at all. So loads of screaming kids all day around pool. No entertainment staff. Just half hour mini disco in the evening for kids.
Drinks - plastic glasses not very clean. You are not allowed to have a bottle of water, only a glass of water. One night we took a bottle of water to our table and the waiter took it away saying we weren't allowed a bottle, only glasses.
To sum up, the worst holiday I've ever had at the Hotel Clumba Mar. Do not go there.

Have been staying in the Clumba Mar twice a year for several years and can't fault it, although would not have chosen all inclusive which was the only option last year. Have just received an e-mail from the manager (who over the years has become a friend) to say that half board will be available as an option again this year. So will be going back in May and October again.
The hotel is clean and friendly, with decent food (if a little repetitive - but, surely, that can be said about any good restaurant that you go to regularly). The resort is ideal - lively without being rowdy or brash - you can stay out until the wee small hours if you wish ('Skau' shuts about six in the morning) and still walk back to the hotel feeling safe.
Go to the Clumba Mar in Ca'n Picafort and enjoy yourself.

The rooms in the Stil Clumba Mar are spotless and cleaned daily. The restaurant is superb with plenty of variety. This year we went all inclusive and there was definately no fall in standards. The receptionists are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The dining staff are very friendly and efficient. It is great now that there is no smoking in the lounge and dining area. It is only a short walk to the beach.

We would recommend the Clumba Mar to everyone and we have. We had two very enjoyable weeks there last year at this very
friendly hotel. Cleanliness, linen and towel changes, food and a personal touch and smiles from all the staff, who over the two weeks became our friends.
We have already booked again for this year (2008) and once again, I will be celebrating my birthday there. Roll on September.

"Clumba Mar"

My wife and I made our fourth visit this year to the Stil Clumba Mar. However, the hotel went from half board in previous years to all inclusive in 2007. From a personal view point I do not like drinking out of half pint plastic glasses.
My wife, being disabled, although having a first floor room, it was unfortunate the breakfast chef during our stay caught the bacon alight and the fire alarm sounded around 5.30 a.m. We had to evacuate our room; with neither lift in operation that meant a slow walk down the stairs while other holidaymakers were pushing and shoving to try and get out.
No representative from the tour operator was present and all hell let loose in reception with reception staff speaking in Spanish on telephones etc. Eventually, and with over 200 guests spilling into the street outside, an announcement was made in English that the panic was over and we could return to our beds. What troubled us most was the evacuation drill in our rooms gave the assembly point as the tennis courts but these were converted two years earlier into a second swimming pool. Why was this information not updated?
The hotel itself was clean, staff were courteous and the entertainment team fantastic. We had booked for 14 days. Despite writing to the tour operator and the hotel direct we have had no satisfactory reply from the tour operator and no reply at all from the hotel.
200 metres from the beach and a fantastic resort in general. We were disappointed the 'I's' were not dotted nor the 'T's' crossed! Sorry, but that is the nuts and bolts of the situation. Maybe this time we were unlucky. From our point of view half board was a better option.

"Clumba Mar Hotel Is A Great Hotel!"

I really enjoyed staying at the hotel so much that I went there twice in 2006, once with my boyfriend in July and then on a girls holiday in September! The hotel is really clean and tidy, the staff are brilliant and very friendly, especially the bar staff!
Entertainment was provided every night, which was Ok, but not to my liking. Although it was fine for young families and older couples I would not recommend relying on the hotel's entertainment for younger people! The food was also fine, although it lacked imagination. Many of the meals are repeated twice in one week and having been there twice in one summer I should know!
The swimming pools were great though and I would especially recommend the pool located across the road as it is much more modern! Don't worry about being over heated on your stay, the air conditioning works wonders, although it can be a little noisy at times! I would recommend staying at this hotel to anyone! Enjoy your stay if you've already booked!

Very clean and tidy, exceptionally friendly staff, the food was varied, well presented and most of all very good. The only downside was the constant smell of cigarette smoke in the lounge and bar area. Thank you staff for helping my wife and me to have a very nice week.

"Stil Clumba Mar Hotel Was Great"

June 2006
Myself, my husband and four year old son visited the Clumba Mar in June of this year and had a great time. After reading some of the reviews before we went, I was a bit worried as I was the one that had booked the holiday over the internet and I didn't want to take the blame if the hotel was rubbish, but we all thought the hotel was great.
The rooms were basic but clean. We had air conditioning and we paid ourselves to hire a fridge. The food was good and the swimming pools were great. We went to the pool across the road which was just built last year. This was a great big pool. All the staff were very friendly and nice, so if anybody is a bit apprehensive about going, don't be, you will have a great time.

My sister and I stayed at the Clumba Mar Hotel in June 2006. I didn't know what to expect as I had seen a negative report about it on the internet. However, we were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful, the food although not imaginative was well cooked with plenty of fresh fruit available, the entertainment was first class and we had the choice of using the pool at the bar across the road. Air conditioning was good if a bit noisy.
The hotel is in a good situation being near to both the beach and the shops. A really enjoyable holiday. Thank you.

I have stayed at this hotel for the last four years and I think that it is great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I think that all of the staff in the hotel and the bar opposite, that is also owned by the hotel, are fab. We always come with a crowd, that have been coming here for 36 years, so I think that is a bonus.
There are two pools, the Caracas pool is much better. The hotel food is very great, although it is very limited. The rooms are very nice, lovely bathrooms and powerful air conditioning. I would recommend anyone staying here!!!!!

We went to the Clumba Mar for three years running. We were four adults and really enjoyed the hotel, the resort and the surrounding area. The staff were great, especially Mathias on the reception [especially at night with his coca-cola - the local drink ‘mesclat'].
The restaurant was really clean, offered good choice of food and the desserts were to die for. Overall we had three wonderful years there, but felt that we needed to broaden our horizons a bit, but who knows, we may go back one day!

August 2003
My husband, myself and our eight year old son visited Ca'n Picafort in August 2003 and stayed at the Hotel Clumba Mar, which is close to the beach and shops. Our room was nice, it had air conditioning and a decent bathroom - all bedding and towels were clean and the maid service was good. The hotel restaurant served nice food with a children's section, although sometimes this was a bit limited. We had a good view of the sea and shops from the balcony - other balconies face the hotel pool. Overall the hotel facilities were good, such as the bar, restaurant and entertainment. The pool seemed a bit small considering the hotel is big and the area around the pool is also quite limited so sometimes we could not find anywhere to sit. There were organised games for both kids and adults. The beach is beautiful and the resort has a lot to offer everyone. An excellent holiday.
These opinions are those of HotelStreet visitors and not of HotelStreet.
