"Isla Dorada Is Rubbish"
Travel date:
July 2006
My partner and I were not impressed with this hotel at all. It was awful. The receptionist were very rude, the rooms were very small, air conditioning was rubbish and your room is the only place in the hotel with air con. The hotel is full of Germans and they were treated better than us British. The food was disgusting. My partner ate once in there and was poorly for three days. He wasn't the only person there to get ill. Many of the people we met came down poorly. Many of us tried to complain to the staff about this but all of a sudden they didn't understand English. How convienient.
Small pool with a pool bar which is hard to get a drink as the staff only came out when they felt like it. If you do stay here, you are better serving yourself as my partner did on many occasions.
Enough about the pit we stayed in. El Arenal is a very nice place. There are many things you can do there. Beaches are nice. We found an English pub called ‘The Sportsman' It's a Liverpool bar and the staff are brilliant people. This became our local. There are many shops and restaurant to visit which are very reasonable prices which was good for us as we had to eat out every day and we were supposed to be all inclusive.

"Isla Dorada Hotel Isn't Great"
Travel date:

Me and my girlfriend have just arrived back from El Arenal. We stayed for one week at the Isla Dorada Hotel and we can safely say we will never stay at this hotel again. Once we arrived we were told there were no rooms available for us to stay in (which is a bit of a pain in the bum at three in the morning). We then had to walk with our cases to another hotel round the corner and spend the day there.
Once we finally go to stay in the hotel we paid for, we got to our room and it smelt like something had died in it. We complained to reception but they said it was ok. After about half an hour trying to explain to these people we didn't want the room, they finally gave us another room which wasn't much better. They are very small and the air-conditioning is very poor.
None of the staff are helpful, very ignorant. Got a lot of funny looks when asking for food or drink especially from the staff at the snack bar. The pool is tiny, a lot of arguing over sun loungers.
We ate at the restaurant a couple of times but the food is rubbish. Pretty much the same every night so we ate out most nights and the bar is only open till half eleven at night and they only serve you two drinks at a time which caused a problem, especially when you are all inclusive.
The place is full of Germans and the entertainment in the hotel is rubbish. Its ok if you are over 50 and German. It's bingo most nights. There nothing for kids to do and on two occasions, the night porter walked into our room at night when we were sleeping and just apologised and walked out. Think he was up to something. We told the reception but don't think they took any action. El Arenal is a nice place and I would go again but certainly not to the Isla Dorada.

"Great Hotel"

Lovely and clean hotel. The staff are some of the friendliest people I have ever came across. The meals were good and varied - there is something to suit everybody.
The only thing negative I would have to say is that the pool area seems to be too small for the size of the hotel. Would certainly come back to this hotel if I was in the area again.
