Honolulu is not for the old! The hotel was clean and the food was OK. Could have been better i.e., more choice. There was a group of us and aged between 18-22. At night the hotel was very loud but we expected this as we were a group of lads and on a 'loud holiday'. If you are on a young group holiday, then the Honolulu is ideal as it's within walking distance to all the clubs and bars. If you are an older couple, then I wouldnt advise it as there is a steep incline and its very loud at night times.

My partner and I decided to have a short holiday in Majorca last week. We booked the Honolulu in Magaluf for a week's all inclusive. Big, big mistake.
It looked a nice place but we were wrong. The exterior of the building was fine - nice areas to sit and the pool area was fine, but when you were given a room (more like a rabbit hutch) then the proverbial hit the fan. The door to the toilet had great holes in it, the beds were like small camp beds, the TV didn't work, only two out of four lights worked and they still didn't work after our week there. No fridge, no phone and the furniture was junk.
There are two lifts and one of them won't work if more than three people are in it. It's supposed to be a maximum of six people. The food was plentiful, if you liked chips every day. The menu was very very basic and you had to microwave your food if you wanted it hot.
On our second day we deliberately left a boat trip advert on the floor. It was still there the day we left and our room was supposed to be cleaned every day.
The drink was plentiful but it was like drinking water and the bar staff hardly spoke a word. There were many people like us there. We are mature people and there was a good mix of age groups but when the sun went down, the night people seemed to crawl out of the woodwork. This hotel is desperately needing a major overhaul. If I was paid a lot of money, I couldn't be coaxed back to the Honolulu. Hell in Magaluf.

Had a great time at this hotel. We booked a last minute deal and read some of the reviews about this hotel but food was OK - what you would expect. Hotel was clean and tables in the restaurant and the bar were cleared quicker than any where else we have stopped.
The only negatives were some of the other guests (not only the young ones) who were inconsiderate of others. All the staff from the maids, restaurant and reception were friendly and very helpful. The bulb went in one of the lights and it was fixed within 30 minutes and extra pillows were delivered before evening. Loved it and did not want to come home but the steep incline is very steep, even if not long. We are 48 and 51 and found going up it twice a day an effort.

Booked an all inclusive holiday at short notice with my boyfriend. We were offered the Honolulu so took it on the all inclusive for seven days.
When we arrived, I was very unsure as it looked a bit 'dodgy', but once we both settled in and got to know our surroundings, it was an extremely pleasant experience.
The staff were friendly and we enjoyed most of the entertainment that was provided in the hotel, even though it did finish and shut down at 11:30 p.m. (unlike the rest of Magalluf). We would just head into Magalluf afterwards.
Had a really great holiday and would recommend it to people of all ages (18+).

We have just got back from a seven night all inclusive stay at the Honolulu and thought the hotel was great! I read some bad reviews before I went which worried me but those bad reviews were wrong!
The only downsides were the puddings and a slightly dodgy temperature on the shower.
The view was fantastic. We had Palma Nova beach on one side and Magaluf beach on the other and it was completely central to all the night life.
The room was clean, the food was fine - there were chips everyday but there was plenty of other sides. There was a great selection, My partner's favourite was the pork stew and I liked everything and you could have as much as you wanted - what more could you ask for. The drinks were great and did include some cocktails, my favourite being the 'Tequila Sunrise'.
The staff were great and only a couple did not understand English very well. There was no noise inside, only from outside but just close your huge patio doors and it's gone.
There was a variety of age groups at the hotel and not as many groups of screaming lads as I read about.
We went to BCM on a non event night and I have to say it was quite empty but the music was great. The entry was a bit steep at €20 but you got two drinks and on an event night that price would have been great as the atmosphere would have been wicked. All in all a great holiday and we would definitely go back there again - 100%.

The Honolulu is the worst place you can be if you want to enjoy a calmish holiday. Most of the people are aged between 16 and 20 and have no respect for anything or anyone. The drink is watered down and the rep doesn't have a clue. I was there for four days before I saw her then she took most of the day to take my complaint.
I would not recommend this bad place to my worst people on this planet. Would never go there again.

Please don't go here if you're a family! We were a group of teenage girls so we weren't too surprised that:
- there was a dead fly smeared across our shower wall
- there were numerous chunks missing from doors/walls
- one air con vent worked
- the pool had a faint smell of sewerage
- the constant prostitutes hanging around outside threw flip flops at us
We had the most fantastic holiday ever because of Magaluf, but I would advise anyone looking to enjoy their hotel to avoid the Honolulu!
You may enjoy it if you love stale potatoes, food poisoning, vomit in elevators, out-of-tune 'entertainers' and beds with unidentifiable crumbs in!

Hotel right next to the strip and you can see the famous 'Sling Shot'. Very good views from hotel.

Really don't know where to start! Went to the Honolulu for a week as a group of five lads aged 25 to 28. Checked in then received a talk from the hotel manager - enjoy our stay but warning us of our behaviour!
Got to our rooms once they had been cleaned. No door number on one of the rooms which, as you can imagine, is hard to find after a night out. On first impressions the room seemed OK. Thereafter the balcony door would not shut properly, the socket behind my bed was loose from the wall and literally every time I sat on my bed the slats across would pop out of position and the mattress would end up on the floor and before you think it, I only weigh ten stone. One more thing on the room - the 'air conditioning' what a waste of time - totally in the wrong place in the room by the doorway and not very powerful.
We went all inclusive due to the current exchange rate but ended up eating out day and night (at a great Welsh bar on the beach) after the first day as everyone was well really ill. All food was made in bulk which is fine but the 'chef's' clearly aren't capable of maintaining the quality for such numbers. A good selection was available alcohol wise but all was served in half pint glasses quite often half full and the ready made cocktails were obviously lacking in 'alcohol'. As I said, we were aged 25 to 28 - not old but loads of barely 18 year olds were staying at the hotel who didn't appear to enjoy sleeping 24 hours a day - shouting with megaphones, throwing water bombs onto the main entrance stairway, slamming doors and bobby knocking all hours. I sound like a big moaner for my age but I assure you, no exaggeration.
One good thing to say is the location of the hotel - close but not to close to the night life and a few minutes from Palma Nova beach. P.S. Didn't appreciate the hassle off the prostitutes outside the hotel every night.

This was my first time away with a group of friends. Four of us went. When we were booking the holiday, we were after a relaxing time in the day, relaxing around the pool with a beach nearby and night life at night. This is exactly what we got.
The night life is extremely close to the hotel. The rooms were very clean and basic but contained everything needed. When we arrived out air conditioning in one of our rooms wasn't working. Within an hour the hotel staff had this sorted out for us which we were very pleased about.
There were a lot of big groups staying at the hotel, mostly lad groups with a few girl groups. The entertainment in the hotel at night was fab - something different every night. We enjoyed a game of bingo each night before we hit the night life!
Overall, an excellent holiday and would definitely return to the Honolulu hotel with a group of friends again.

The hotel itself was huge and definitely a loud one. Mostly lad groups, a few families, and a few girl groups. It was OK if you want to get right in the centre of everything. Main strip directly behind. Famous 'Sling Shot' on the doorstep basically. Can be seen very clearly from balcony of rooms. Lots of noise from that until around four in the morning.
Can't say anything about the stunning view. Everything can be seen from that hotel. It's lush. Palma Nova and Magaluf plus the separate beaches - breathtaking!
The hotel has a continuous supply of food and alcohol. Lots of cocktails at the bar in the main entertainment area throughout the day as well as hot drinks. The restaurant is huge and caters for all tastes - full cooked breakfasts or massive selection of fruits, cereals, yoghurts, fruit juice and coke machines are help yourself basis. Lunchtimes and teatimes there are salads, cheeses, selection of rolls, soup, three different main courses like lasagne, a carvery, pork chops, pizzas, meats and side portions of things. Burgers and chips served through the day as snacks, and snacks at the bar until midnight like sandwiches - with no butter so slightly dry. Will taste OK after a few of their cocktails.
My family did enjoy the stay and we were a mixture of ages as young as 11 and as old as 55. Can get quite full on though. Staff can be too relaxed - good service though. Cleaners everyday too.
Very hot temperatures - as high as 36. A couple shady days but could still catch a tan. All round lovely area with plenty of shops and things to do, not just night life. Loads of bars though.
Beware of prostitutes on the corner of hotel. Only saw them a couple of times though in two weeks.
BCM just around the corner - five minutes. Magaluf and Palma Nova will take you a day to figure out where everything is. Been back to this holiday destination six times now. Love it. First time at the Honolulu hotel though.
Little arcade area in hotel. Kids' sweet machine is infested with ants. Entertainment was basic with volleyball, archery and 'killer pool'. Half and hour entertainment for kids at night times. Adult time for half an hour with competitions like 'Mr. Honolulu'. Quite funny actually. Hope this helps.

The food isn't the best, but me and my friends survived on it for a week and to be honest, if you are 19 and going to Magaluf, then you don't really care about the food! The staff are really nice (except for one guy in the bar who just seemed to smoke all the time) and the entertainment is shocking, but we never wanted to watch it anyway. The hill isn't even that bad! Me and my friends were so so worried about it when we booked it but we walked up and down it every night in heels! So its quite safe!
The pool was really nice and rooms were always clean. All in all it was fantastic, and I've just booked another holiday at the Honolulu for September! We loved it!

Went as one of a stag party, as an older adult with the groom to be and his mates. First thing we had on arrival was a sermon from the manager on what he didn't want to happen in the hotel and how the police act first and ask questions later, which, in all fairness, you cannot blame them when faced with drunken Brits hell bent on destruction.
The hotel is clean and the rooms aren't bad, Bit of paint needed in places. Food was basic - the usual all inclusive mass produced to try and please all. Chips with everything.
Drinks and service OK,
Pity the pool is down three sets of steps and over the road,
not enough sunbeds for size of the hotel and too many broken ones anyway. Why do they have to leave broken ones by the pool when they are dangerous?
I don't think it's suitable for families - there are too many stag and hen groups at this hotel and this leads to too much swearing around the pool area. The hill is mean.

People forget to look at the price before they judge a hotel. We paid 33 euros per person per night and this was with a nice room, all meals and all we could drink.
This is an amazing price. The lunch was nice and the dinner was nice. Nice compared to the price. Remember that. The breakfast we didn't eat because we did drink too much every night, but that's our own fault. The drinks were nice, almost a too little much alcohol in the gin and tonic but that's not a problem you can complain about.
Remember this is a hotel placed in the centre of an area for young people. If you seek a quiet vacation, go to the north west of Mallorca and so on. But not to say the hotel was loud, because it wasn't. Not compared to the place.
Compared to the price, the Honolulu hotel is excellent. Nice entertainment every night.
Only minus is the bartenders who are a bit quiet.

I was at the Honolulu Hotel for two weeks. I found the hotel to be in desperate need of a re-vamp, as door frames and were falling off walls.
The food was boring - almost the same menu everyday. The entertainment was OK, especially for the children.
The pool isn't easy to get to and I found it very dangerous as you have to go down marble steps from the hotel (and people were walking with wet feet), then down some more steps to the pool area. You then have to eventually get a sun lounger that wasn't broken. The pool could only be used for a short period in the day, as it is freezing and there is no heating in it.
I was really looking forward to my holiday, but was unfortunately disappointed with the accommodation.

I had stayed at the Honolulu in October 2005 for a week and said I would never go back. However, after staying for a week from the 4th October 2008, I would definitely go back to this hotel any time I could get the chance. I found a big improvement in everything about the hotel.
We arrived about 8 p.m. on Saturday night and the atmosphere in the hotel was very warm and welcoming. Reception staff were very efficient but so quick that they accidentally gave us the wrong safe box key. This got sorted out promptly and the staff member was very apologetic for our inconvenience.
As we only arrived that evening, we intended having dinner and discussing what we would do for the evening as we knew we wouldn't just stay in the hotel all night. After a couple of drinks, which, incidentally are good and served with a smile, we headed out to get our tickets for BCM. We are in our late forties and have walked past BCM on numerous occasions thinking that we are too old for it, but no way, it's brilliant. So if you don't want your night to end at midnight when the all inclusive bar at the hotel finishes, you pay 25 or 30 euros to get into BCM and you get a good gift, all inclusive drinks and dancing until 6 a.m. and it's then a short walk home to the hotel.
Reading reviews about the hotel before we went about not being suitable for families etc, I would say the hotel caters for families, groups of young people, stag and hen parties and couples and does try to cater for all age groups. It is very tolerant of the lively crowds but not to the detriment of other guests. I know that the hotel states not suitable for people with walking difficulties and if there are young families with pushchairs it could be a pain but if the hotel is telling this beforehand, why book then whine about it?
To be fair, I find the staff work very hard and put up with a lot of rude people who come on holiday, find fault with everything and will complain to anybody who will listen. I have been in all inclusive hotels and you are expected to clear up in the dining room etc. so in the Honolulu you are well looked after and it doesn't hurt to show respect to the staff who are doing a very good job.
I think your holiday is what you make it and a lot of the time it is other guests being, not noisy but moaney and rude that bring a hotel, down not the hotel staff. A big spoil is the way guests disregard any requests from the hotel i.e., not to reserve sunbeds by placing towels on them and disappearing all day, then coming back to expect the bed. It is very selfish and inconsiderate. Overall the hotel is what it says - it is a three star and I can honestly say I will go back expecting that not a four or five star and then complain.

The Honolulu hotel is very noisy at night and should be kept separate if families want to stay there and not with people going for a drunken experience as well.
The showers in the single rooms are so tiny that water leaks all over the floor and it floods. The food is pretty similar every night with chips and trying to eat your sweet with a teaspoon is tricky.
There was no entertainment for the kids during the day and when it rained, there were no TVs in the bar area, so you have to go out which means buying drinks which you have already paid for with the all inclusive.
Some of the staff are friendly while others are miserable. The pool area is OK but when the pool area is shut down and night falls, the area is hosed down, but it is washed into the pool.

I went on holiday here for two weeks from the 27th of September to the 11th of October. We arrived on a lovely day, which made it all the better. When we checked in, we went to our room, opened the door and it was a huge room. Really nice, bright and clean. Opened the balcony door and the view was breath taking. We had a sea view of both Palma Nova and Magaluf beach so we knew the holiday was a bonus with that.
The food was good and a continuous supply of it also. The only thing I thought was odd they didn't have that much entertainment. What was there was good and couldn't fault any of the staff - they were helpful, friendly and always smiled.
This was my first time to the Honolulu hotel and the area and it was great. The hill up to hotel and the steps seemed to get longer and longer as the weeks went on but it burnt off all the good food that we ate. We went on a few trips which were fun and our rep was OK - she helped to pick the best places.
The beach is very close to the hotel and we walked down there every day for three to four hours a time so the hotel is very central to most of the island. I would definitely go back, in fact, I didn't want to come home.
The swimming pool area was always busy so I went to the beach, like I said, every day. I would recomend people to go but get a sea view as it makes all the difference to the holiday.
A great stay. The cleaners are friendly but have limited English. Oh, don't go down in the service lift with the maid on departure day. They helped as we waited for the lift and we were on sixth floor. Well, the maid let us go down with our cases in their lift - well, never again. It was funny looking back but at the time of all the days to get stuck in a lift, it had to be departure day!

I spent ages reading all the reviews on this page and I can honestly say what a load of rubbish most of them are! I've heard stories of naked men in the pool, loud drunken yobs smashing the place up at 4 a.m. or people getting sick from drinking ice! It's like something out of the Daily Star! Absolute farce! I've even read reviews where people have complained about walking up the hill to get to the hotel! That's mother nature for you and unfortunately, fellow Brits, that's just the way life is. Sometimes there are hills! Don't ever go to the countryside!
Firstly this is not the New York Hilton or the QE2 but its a decent hotel. I went with four lads, all of us in our early 20s, all inclusive and I cant complain at all. I think people need to realise exactly where they're going and treat it with the respect and sense of humour it deserves. It's Magaluf, the party town of Majorca and its summer. Its not St Tropez. There were plenty of families and senior citizens when I went and me and my mates thought it was class. I'd hate to stay in some youth hostel with a bunch of annoying 18 year olds running around the place! I thought the mix of ages really added to the atmosphere and I'd even recommend it to my gran!
Basically we just used the hotel for the free drinks and food up until midnight when we went out and hit the clubs. Its cheesy and just like the TV series Benidorm but that's what its all about. Just have a sense of humour!
The staff were fine, what do people expect? They're serving drinks and cleaning up after the British all day! It's a good idea to tip them on your last night.
Our rooms were fine, TV worked, air con worked and what more can you expect?
On a serious note, if any young lads or girls are coming home late at night on your own, steer clear of the African women that congregate at the corner of the hotel, they're pick pocketers and shouldn't be approached.
But all in all, I think people should stop being typical Brits for once and whinging for the sake of whinging. It's a decent hotel with above average food and respectable staff. Enough said.

There was a good choice of vegetarian meals and generally the food was good. The entertainment was a bit cheesy.
Room was nice but had a lot of trouble when using our card to open the room door. It was nice and cool but the TV didn't work. Went to buy a remote control at reception but was told the signal wasn't that good anyway.
Couldn't see any disabled access. The pool was nice and the staff were friendly and the hotel is very close to the beach and city centre. Would go back again after the school holiday period as it would probably be a lot quieter than then.

The hotel was a night mare for me as: 1. Food was awful. It was all inclusive but there was no point as no one ate there anyway!
2. My stuff was stolen from my room including cash (from speaking with other guests this happened a lot)
3. The staff were genuinely rude. Didn't care one bit. Threatened to call the police on us when we complained that stuff went missing.

A group of five of us went. When we arrived, the staff were okay except two of us were 17 so we got child bands which was gutting. The rooms were actually okay as well and the maids cleaned our room and gave us clean towels etc. everyday.
Our rep Sean was really nice and nice looking! Staff in the bar were chatty etc. The reception staff were nice as well and we could get a laugh with them. The oldies next door were just so moany - couldn't play music or anything. I wouldn't advise older people or families to go to this hotel as its full of young groups and is very lively.
The food wasn't that great as we lived on chips for a week. Except from that everything was great and we all had a really fun week when we were there, I would definitely go back to the Honolulu. Thought it was great and the atmosphere was brilliant.
BCM water party and popcorn party were amazing. You should all go when you are over there. Hotel eight out of ten. Magaluf ten out of ten!

The Honolulu is full of moody people. Good location near the beach. Staff rude. Food was bad. Thought I would give it a chance as I saw a few goods reviews. Wondering now if they were written by some travel agents or something.
There is a steep hill but doesn't really matter unless you're old or got kids.
If you're young, I'd advise you go to 'Fiesta Jungla'. If you're older, I just wouldn't even think about it. Or if you do go, don't spend the whole time complaining about the noise and people being sick - it's Magaluf!

"Hotel Poor - Magaluf Amazing"

There were about 25 of us that stayed in this hotel. Me and a friend booked late and paid £550 for one week's all inclusive in July.
We got to the hotel about 10.30-11 a.m. and the staff on reception were so rude and unhelpful. Most of my friends were waiting until about 1 p.m. for their rooms to be cleaned and the hotel staff didn't care. Every time we asked for an update, they said 'don't come back before 1' so we had to put everyones' suitcases in our rooms until they sorted everyone elses' rooms out!
The rooms were OK. Pretty basic, nothing special but the views are nice of the beach. The beds were uncomfortable but we weren't there to sleep. The showers aren't great either - not powerful at all. I would definately not recommend this hotel for families or older people because it was good for us - it was loud and that was good as they were pretty laid back with us being loud all night and morning! So if you have young kids or want a relaxing holiday, I would definitely say you're not going to get much sleep! Most people in the hotel were young groups but the atmosphere is friendly.
The pool is OK, just across a little road. It's not that big so you have to try and get there as soon as possible to get sun beds but most people don't come down before 11 because they're all still sleeping! The hotel was on a hill which wasn't as bad as some people said in other reviews but still a struggle after too many beers!
The worst part of this hotel was the food! It was absolutely disgusting. Not much selection and the same food all the time. I managed to live on chips for lunch then went out for dinner - seriously the food was horrible. I had chicken nuggets that I found a bone in, a sausage which was rock hard and I just couldn't eat the food. We ended up going to a bar called 'Eastenders' on the hill most of the time for food so that was a waste of money!
The drinks are OK, but ask for no ice because the ice they give you is from their tap water so some people got bad stomachs from this, so we asked for no ice even though they didn't like it! The staff are really rude - if there's a queue at the bar they shake their tip jar at you to get your attention. I will say as well that if you're going all inclusive with mates and you're not 18, they won't give you an adult band to get alcohol. We ripped ours off and they gave us adult ones though. The drinks were OK - loads of cocktails and local stuff - nothing like WKD or Magners etc. but you could get drunk on the cocktails.
The location was nice because it's a two minute walk to the bottom of the hill to get to the beach, which was really nice and then it's like no more than a ten minute walk to get to the night life, which is nice because you're not right in the middle of all the noise.
Magaluf is a great place to go if you're going for the typical booze filled holiday. I wouldn't reccommend it to families or older people although Palma Nova is a lot quieter! I had a wicked week minus the hotel. Oh, and the maids didn't actually change your sheets - they just made the beds and if you want to watch TV, then none of the channels in the room work (though that didn't bother us). So all in all I would reccommend Magaluf for people that want to go out there and party but I'd say go to a different, cheaper hotel like the hotel Samos (which was really nice and also cheap - right next to BCM too!) and go self catering or half board so you're not stuck with horrible food you paid for but can't physically stomach!
I'd give Magaluf 10/10 but the hotel Honolulu 2/10.

This hotel ruined my holiday and I'm surprised there aren't more negative reviews. As soon as you arrive, you have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs, then, awaiting, are the most rude staff I have ever encountered! There were people being sick in the corridors and a lad with his finger hanging off after he smashed his hotel room mirror.
When we got to our rooms, we found them pretty small and not very clean although the view over Magaluf strip wasn't too bad.
These points I could overlook. The hotel food was absolutely awful. As soon as we arrived everyone warned us not to eat the meat or the fish, which is a bit annoying when you pay for all inclusive. As a result you don't have much choice but to eat out. Whilst we were there, cameras, money and peoples' phones were stolen. When informing the hotel staff of what had happened, they were disinterested and said they were going to call the police on us (I see this happened to someone else below too!)
This is by far the biggest waste of money and the worst holiday I have ever experienced. As far as families are concerned, our rep informed us that many travel agencies fail to let families know what the place is really like. I wouldn't recommend the Honolulu hotel to teenagers and definitely not to families.

I have recently returned from a seven night stay at the Honolulu hotel with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised after reading other reviews on this hotel. Food was lovely, reception was really helpful 24 hours and entertainment was good from what we saw but we were mainly out at night.
Only had one night of noise from the room next to us and reception sorted that out for us in the morning! I agree with the stairs and hill being a bit much when it's really hot but not as bad as the reviews made out. Overall an excellent hotel. Made some lovely friends and memories that will last a lifetime! I will be returning in a few years time.

Five girls, all 17 years old. We went all inclusive to the Honolulu but we were not allowed adult bands when we arrived at five in the morning. The food was terrible - there was veal (baby cow) every night. The rooms were cramped and the sheets were not cleaned all week. None of the electric plugs worked all week and the staff were very rude.

Two lads, aged 18 and 19. We arrived at the Honolulu hotel at seven in the morning tired but excited about being in Magaluf for two weeks all inclusive but when we arrived, people were being sick on the stairs and a bunch of lads, about 12, were all in the pool naked - not the nicest thing you want to see then.
We got into the rooms which are very small and cramped. We were woken up by a guy fixing our door and we got accused of breaking the door and tried charging us 210 euros or the police were getting involved.
Once the hotel was clean, it was a nice place but with a lot of lads so if you're going for the ladies, it's very competitive as it's ten guys to one girl, literally.
The receptionists were really nice and we went out with the bar staff to BCM - great club but the people serving the food are like zombies and stare at you. So, be careful. Lads drinking all day and getting naked all the time isn't for anyone except young lads who want to cause fights all the time. Good luck to people who read this. Just try and get through the time. Don't be in the hotel. Time passes quicker and don't look at anyone because they try and start on you.

I have just come back from staying in the Honolulu hotel. Myself, my husband and our four children. The rooms were OK. Food was very good. Lots to choose from. Drinks OK.
Swimming pool good. Children's entertainers very good with my children. Entertainment in evening was not good. One band called 'Boogie Nights' was good but that was it. Shut at 12 p.m. so time to go to bed.
We had two rooms but not next door to each other. Hotel put a group of young girls in the middle of us. Didn't get much sleep for the week. The hotel was very noisy. Running and banging on doors 1 a.m. - 6 a.m. We had a lovely holiday but this hotel is not for families. The hotel is really just for young people.

"Awful Hotel"

I've just returned from a four night stay in the Honolulu and to be honest, the hotel completely ruined the holiday.
To start with we had to lug our cases up two sets of stairs to get into the hotel and there was no apparent slope or wheel chair access. We were then greeted by rude reception staff and told our room was on the top floor. We got one, of the two very small lifts in the whole of the hotel, up to the eight floor and then had to drag our cases up two sets of stairs to reach the ninth floor.
The room was horrible. There were two single beds crammed in the tiny room with a small table in between, which meant that the wardrobe door could not be opened fully as it was obstructed by the side of the bed. There was no main light, only two wall lights either side of the beds, which meant it was very difficult to do your make-up to go out and the lighting was terrible. The door onto the balcony was dented at the lock and would not close properly without a lot of force. There was also massive cracks in the wall between the wall and balcony door so it was very draughty and cold at night. The bedroom door did not lock properly and we once woke up to the door being wide open in the middle of the night which is obviously very dangerous.
The food was buffet style and more often than not it was horrible. It was reminiscent of school dinners. The waiting staff are friendly but sometimes to eager to take your plate which made you feel uncomfortable. Although we were half board, we actually ate out at least half of the time.
The noise at night was bad, but not particularly from the hotel guests. As the hotel is very near the main Magaluf 'strip' of clubs and bars, the noise from there could be heard until the early hours of the morning.
Definitely not a family hotel and I would not recommend anyone to visit it. The worst hotel and holiday I have ever experienced.

The only thing we griped about were that there are not enough toilet facilities on the ground floor. Would go back again to the Honolulu.

Family with three adults and two children spent six nights in this big and very nice hotel. It was an advantage for us to have the rooms on the seventh floor, as we couldn't hear any noise from the restaurant downstairs and could enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over this clean resort.
We were impressed by the variety and good quality of food; the services were very good and promptly responded to; excellent facilities in the hotel, such as the bar, restaurant, big swimming pool; an excellent hotel for a family with kids, where the children can enjoy activities during the day and as well a kids' disco in the evening time, very enjoyable by the adults also.
We were also impressed by the friendly staff who are very helpful in organising taxis, trips and responding to all queries. Apart from all this, the hotel has a very good location, near to two beaches, restaurants and shops. Altogether, a very pleasant place to stay in, we would definitely recommend the Honolulu for families with children.

As me and my friends, all aged 18, entered the hotel, we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Before even checking into the hotel, we had to go into the managers office to discuss how we were going to behave. This may be because of our age group and we were all girls! He did warn us that if there were any serious problems caused by us, we could get kicked out of the hotel! I thought that this was a very good idea to warn us of the goings on etc, in the hotel. This also reassures you that the hotel is for almost all ages including families!
The drink at this hotel is superb. Even though it is all inclusive you get a good selection!
The location of this hotel is also idea - not far from beach or night life. Ten out of ten for location! The hill that has been mentioned - don't worry about it - it's nothing if you have two good working legs!
I would definitely visit the Honolulu hotel again and again and again!

The hotel itself was good enough, the rooms were clean, the food was alright and the staff were friendly enough.
The only problems we had with the hotel were the stag do's from Thursday to Sunday who were never sober and the hotel only employed only one security guard and from Friday to Sunday. The other thing was the entertainment. They did activities for an hour and took two hours off and that was for the adults and only entertained the children that where there for about an hour a day. The hotel said they had a children's club but not from what we could make out. So overall the entertainment was rubbish. I would not recomend hotel Honolulu to families.

We travelled as a family with two pushchairs that we now have to replace because of lack of access and facilities. We went there being told there were a kids' club and there was absolutely nothing for our two children to do. There was a park but it was dirty and never cleaned, the swimming pool was full of grit and sand and was located out of the complex by going down and across the driveway.
The all inclusive was not worth the money we paid as you could only eat the awful restaurant food and my partner had frozen food at meals. There was no food for children. You had to pay for all bar snacks and ice creams apart from after 9:30 when you were offered cheese or ham sandwiches.
The bedrooms were a basic building site as we have pictures to prove this. There were live wires hanging out of the wall of both rooms we stayed in. The door didn't lock from the inside, tiles missing on the balcony and very dangerous with children. Sink didn't work and very poor workmanship.
There were stag and hen parties in a supposed family complex. Would not recommend the Honolulu to anybody. This is a very dangerous hotel for all ages.

We have just returned from this hotel and want to reassure families travelling to this hotel that it is not as bad as many people make out.
Yes, the hotel is located at the top of a steep slope and this can be tricky for anybody to climb, particularly during the hottest parts of the day. I am a fit 27 year old who dreaded this walk every day, though I kept telling myself it was doing me good!
The rooms are very basic and are not all perfectly maintained. In our room there was a faulty bathroom door - it appears that a previous guest may have punched it at some point, but overall the rooms were cleaned daily and towels were changed.
The food is not as bad as some reviewers have stated: yes for those who adore chips there are chips every day (at least twice a day) although for those of you with more refined palates, there are various salads, vegetable, meat and fish dishes. Lots of fruit and jelly-style desserts and as much ice-cream as you desire.
I had very little exposure to the evening entertainment programme, but from what I saw I would say that it is your average hotel-type entertainment - whilst we were there there was a 'Grease' show, a bingo night, some karaoke and cabaret.
The waitresses in the restaurant were lovely and fantastic with our son, especially when we made some effort to speak in Spanish. Similarly, Guido on reception is very helpful and the bar staff were kind when serving us drinks.
I did not notice any hen or stag parties - what I observed in the Honolulu was a mixed bunch of youngsters, families and couples alike. On a couple of occasions there was some noise but I never witnessed drunken crowds.
You are close to all amenities, lots of nice shops and supermarkets within a stone's throw and a beautiful sea view that cannot fail to impress. Son Matias beach is literally a five minute walk and it is stunning.
I would rate this hotel seven out of ten as in general it met my expectations but if you are looking for five star luxury, I would advise you to book elsewhere. Enjoy your stay!
