The castle was built in the tenth century by Abderramán III. It now houses 'La Zuda' (the well) and among the early constructions, the walled enclosure and what were the governor's palace and royal residence have been preserved. The current dining-hall occupies a large part of the former Palace and today is endowed with some very extensive windows, which are examples of the Catalunyan Gothic style. Facilities at this parador include a lift, gardens. Swimming pool with sun terrace, laundry service and car parking.
